Applauding Jaishankar's remarks, PM Modi said, 'The speech by EAM Dr.Jaishankar Ji was outstanding. He highlighted how the world has clearly heard India's perspective on fighting the menace of terrorism through Operation Sindoor.'
Defence Minister: Operation Sindoor Achieved Objectives
Opening the debate on Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that India is prepared to go to any extent to eradicate terrorism.
He explained that Operation Sindoor, launched to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan, is currently paused as the armed forces have achieved their objectives. However, he cautioned that the operation could resume if Islamabad undertakes any hostile actions.

Eight air accidents killed 274 people this year: Govt data

(File photo) The government on Thursday said there have been eight air accidents that killed 274 people in the country so far this year. Apart from the Air India plane crash on June 12 that killed 260 people, there were three trainee aircraft accidents and four helicopter accidents. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol told the Lok Sabha that the cause of these accidents is under probe by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). "There have been a total of 08 accidents (involving 1 scheduled aircraft, 3 trainee aircraft and 4 helicopters) reported in the year 2025 (till date)," he said in a written reply. On April 22, one person was killed in a helicopter accident in Gujarat, while on May 8, six people died in a chopper crash in Uttarakhand. In another helicopter accident in Uttarakhand, seven people were killed on June 15. As many as 84 people were injured in the eight accidents, including 81 persons in the Air India plane crash. In a separate written reply, Mohol said a total of 18 accidents involving Indian civil registered scheduled aircraft have been reported from 2015 till date. "Payment of compensation to the passenger or next of kin in case of death or bodily injury to the passenger, caused by air accident /incident is governed by the provisions of Carriage by Air Act, 1972. "India has ratified the Montreal Convention, 1999 by making amendments to the Carriage by Air Act, 1972 in 2009. As per the said act, the liability of payment of compensation in case of death, delay, damage or loss to persons, baggage or cargo for international carriage, is of the carriers," Mohol said.

It was Congress' conspiracy to malign Hindu community: Indore man discharged in Malegaon blast case
An Indore-based businessman who was discharged in the 2008 Malegaon blast case eight years ago, on Thursday (July 31, 2025) welcomed the acquittal of seven accused, and alleged that he was implicated in the case as a result of the Congress's "conspiracy" to malign the Hindu community. Demanding an apology from the Opposition party, he accused it of coining terms like "Hindu terrorism" and "saffron terrorism" to appease a particular section of society. A special court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Colonel Prasad Purohit, observing that there was "no reliable and cogent evidence" against them. The blast had killed six persons and injured 101 others nearly 17 years ago on September 29, 2008. Businessman Shyam Sahu from Indore, who was arrested in this case in October 2008, said he was in judicial custody for three years. The special court, however, discharged him in 2017 citing lack of evidence. Talking to PTI, Mr. Sahu alleged that he, Pragya Singh Thakur and others were implicated as part of a "Congress conspiracy" to malign the Hindu community by coining terms such as "Hindu terrorism" and "saffron terrorism" to appease a particular section. "We have got justice," he said about the court verdict. "The Congress' conspiracy has been exposed. The party should apologise for its conspiracy, though I don't think it will," he said. He said he had to face several "ordeals" following his arrest in the case. "While I was in jail after my arrest, my elder brother Mohan Sahu came to support me during a court appearance. Before my eyes, he suffered a heart attack and died about half-an-hour later. I could not do anything to save him," he added. "No one can compensate for the loss my family suffered due to the death of my elder brother," Mr. Sahu said.
