Madeleine West shares a heartwarming tribute to her children on Mother's Day after welcoming her seventh child at the age of 47

Daily Mail11-05-2025

Madeleine West has shared a touching tribute to her seven children on Mother's Day.
The 47-year-old former Neighbours actress posted a throwback Christmas picture of herself posing with her six eldest kids to Instagram on Sunday.
A smiling Madeleine can be seen sitting alongside Santa as she hugged one of her children.
The actress, who welcomed her seventh child only last month, used a smiley emoji to obscure the identity of each of her kids in the picture in order to protect their privacy.
The TV star—who shares Phoenix, 19, Hendrix, 16, Xascha, 14, Xanthe, 12, and twins Xalia and Margaux, 10, her ex partner Shannon Bennett added a lengthy message to her children including her newborn in the post.
'My darlings...My magnum opus SEVEN times over!' she began.
'My crazy, cantankerous, curious, clever, chaos of children (collective noun trademarked!)
'Thank you. The woman I've become, as your mum, is the best version of myself I could ever wish to be....
'Thank you for your trust when you reach out for me. Thank you for your forgiveness when I don't have all the answers. Thank you for the love in your eyes when you call my name,' Madeleine said.
'I don't always get it right, but thank you for your patience as I try to do my best.
'The journey has not been easy, what journey ever is?
'It is an honour to bear witness to your trials and tribulations every day, and to witness the incredible people you are and contribute to become,' she continued.
'Please know I love you, now and forever, more than words can say.
'Who knew the human heart could hold so much? And who knew that love could continue to grow, expand and flourish.
'I'm so blessed to be a Mother of Many (even if you lot are a lot harder to train than dragons).
'My babies always and forever. Just call, I'm always here.'
Madeleine singed the message 'Mama' and included a read love heart emoji.
It comes after the actress welcomed her seventh child and shared a glimpse on her newborn in an Instagram post in April.
Alongside a truncated image of the child, the Neighbours star wrote: 'Earthside at last… and utterly perfect'.
She did not reveal the sex or name of her new arrival at the time.
Madeleine revealed the response she received from her friends after she announced her pregnancy in January.
'When I first reached out to my circle and revealed the big news, there was certainly a look. A bit of a stunned mullet, I would say,' she shared.
However, she added the shocked expression was soon followed by 'wow' as her friends asked if she was going to 'keep' the baby.
The controversial question also opened up a conversation about 'geriatric pregnancies' and the risks which come with them, which she expanded on in her interview with Stellar Magazine.
'I strive to not see motherhood as a limitation on my capacities,' she told the publication, but rather something that 'adds to it exponentially'.
She went on to say while falling pregnant certainly wasn't something she was expecting, it was a welcome surprise nonetheless.
'I feel like this little person has come along at the best possible time when I'm so very ready,' she said.
Madeleine went on to say she now has 'more time, wisdom and experience' when it comes to parenting.

The moment I knew: I declined his proposal, then something clicked

It was the day before my 25th birthday in 2005. I was living alone in a flat in Sydney and getting ready for a friend of a friend's 30th that night. I wanted to look vengefully hot for the occasion – someone who had dumped me was going to be there. But later that night I forgot all about my ex. As I was sitting in the back garden at the party, making balloon animals, I looked up and saw a man wearing a bright blue floral 80s outfit – a dress and matching jacket – with fishnet stockings and a floppy hat. It was a circus freaks-themed party and he was one of only a handful of other guests who had dressed up, the only Bearded Lady among us. His humour and confidence glowed as brightly as his pearl choker and matching clip-on earrings. I instantly sensed a strong connection. Drew and I followed each other around all evening, trying not to let the other realise it. A few days later I sent him some pictures from the party and we wasted an entire week of our respective employers' time emailing all day every day, each trying to flirtatiously out-funny the other. Finally, I asked him out for a drink. We started dating and suddenly we'd been together for eight months. Before our first Christmas as a couple, I got wind that he was planning to buy me a kitten. Feeling headstrong about my independence, I gazumped him by buying a kitten for myself. I wasn't ready to share a pet. We slotted easily into each other's lives, sharing eclectic circles of friends, love for our close families and travel. After a year, he moved from the Central Coast to be closer to me in Sydney; after two, he moved into the flat with me and my cat. Three years later, alone on a beach in Borneo except for the three men fixing a generator just behind us, Drew proposed to me. I was taken aback. I didn't feel ready to settle down and I said no immediately. 'I'm not ready,' I uttered. Drew simply kissed me and said: 'I'll wait until you are.' When he said that, something clicked. I realised that whether I was ready was immaterial. I'd never felt ready for anything I've done that was exciting and wonderful and worthwhile. I was ready to not let that stop me. After a few moments I said yes. It was the best decision I've ever made. We got married in 2009. We've faced many challenges since – the terminal illness and death of Drew's father, fertility hurdles, the births of two babies who could stay awake for Australia, postpartum depression, and much more – and Drew has been exactly the right balance of strong, brave, funny, sad, vulnerable, supportive, clever, kind and loving. With Drew as my champion, I said yes to a whole lot more in life too, including writing my first book. In return, it has been the best thing ever to watch as he has thrived in his own life, as an artist. Seeing Drew's work on gallery walls and in people's homes thrills me every time, and there's no one who deserves it more. As for my kitten, Gusto, she's about to turn 20. Our now-shared cat has always, quite rightly, loved Drew the most. Former Channel Seven star Denham Hitchcock reveals why he decided to live at sea with his young family - as he prepares to start new role at Ten

Former Channel Seven star Denham Hitchcock has revealed what inspired him to live at sea with his young family. The veteran reporter lived on a catamaran with his wife Mari and their young children before returning to Sydney earlier this year. He told this week's Stellar magazine how reporting on disasters and destruction and a health scare inspired him to set sail. 'I interviewed people most of the time in a terrible stage of their life, horrendous things have happened to them... And everybody says the same thing: 'I never thought it would happen to me',' he said. 'I realised there's really no good time to leave it behind and go and chase other dreams. So we should just do it and the rest will work itself out.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, s ubscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Denham also discussed the new current affairs program he is set to start co-hosting on Channel Ten. 'That's the great unknown. The journos, the network [are] fully behind it. No-one is half-hearted about this show,' he explained. 'And the platforms it will be on is also revolutionary in a way. [I'll be] let out of the gate. [I have] an absolute blockbuster. It's a story 60 Minutes, Four Corners and Spotlight would kill for.' Industry sources say the new program will focus on long-form investigative stories. A Ten spokesperson confirmed the shake-up to Daily Mail Australia recently, saying: 'Following the continued growth and success of our news brand, 10 News, we are investing in an investigative unit that will work on long-form stories.' Earlier this month, Denham officially jumped ship to Network Ten, becoming the third high-profile journalist to exit Seven in a major shake-up of Australia's media landscape. 'Well here we go. I've switched channels. But also in a way – I've come full circle,' Hitchcock began. 'I grew up watching my father on Channel Ten News every night. I had a bunk bed with Eyewitness News stickers all over it – and can still sing the theme song.' He added: 'So I'm delighted to start work here today – joining the network to help with its plans for the future.' He also shared a throwback photo of his father, veteran Ten journalist Kevin Hitchcock, sporting a classic 1980s moustache and captioned it with some amusing words: 'Not sure I could pull one of those off – but there's still time.' The move came just three months after returning to Seven following a break from TV journalism to live on a catamaran with his wife Mari and their young children. He had originally helped launch Spotlight in 2019 and led the network's coverage of major crime and current affairs stories, including last year's Who Killed Marea? documentary on Sky News.

Aussie boxer Nikita Tszyu welcomes first child and reveals newborn's VERY unusual name

Nikita Tszyu has welcomed his first child with his wife Nikita Bedwell. The Aussie boxing star, 27, shared the happy news to Instagram on Saturday and revealed his baby girl's very unusual name. The couple named their daughter Curiosity and hope the name will give her both courage and strength. 'Curiosity is the passion that drives us through our everyday lives. It is this powerful force of curiosity which has led humans to become explorers, scientists, historians and artists,' Tszyu posted to social media. 'Curiosity is the everlasting flame burning in all of us that compels us to ask questions, to wonder, to learn, to grow and to know. 'As parents, we hope our daughter's name will give her the courage and strength to explore life without fear. 'May her own curious mind be the guiding compass leading the way as she grows to understand herself and the world around her.' 'As Curiosity's parents, we vow to nurture her spirit of adventure and use the principles of the Japanese Bushidō 'The Way of The Warrior' as a guide to raising her.' Tszyu, who is known for staying out of the spotlight, wed Bedwell in January, with just his famous father Kostya, brother Tim and Ms Bedwell's dad there as witnesses. When Tszyu's mother was asked about the ceremony, she revealed that she had only just been informed about the wedding taking place. 'If the couple are happy — I'm blessing them both!' she told News Corp. Tszyu, known as 'The Butcher' for his aggressive style in the ring, is much more reserved in his personal life. There is barely a photo of his partner on social media or from public events, with many outsiders unaware that he was even in a relationship. Tszyu, who has been fighting as a pro for three years, is rumoured to be taking on Michael Zerafa in his next bout, but nothing is as yet finalised.
