
Serious collision closes Highway 402 near Strathroy
Highway 402 westbound is closed between Centre Road and Kerwood Road in Strathroy, after a serious collision resulted in a slow chemical leak on the highway.
A passenger vehicle and transport truck were involved in the collision.
Police urge motorists to avoid the area, as the highway will be closed until Thursday morning.

One of four people sent to the hospital after a serious three-vehicle collision near London has died. The deceased 87-year-old man from Sarnia was a passenger in the van that was hit by an SUV crossing from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane. A transport truck was also hit by the SUV. The collision, which happe ned around 12:30 p.m., closed all eastbound lanes between Colonel Talbot Road and Wonderland Road South. 'Preliminary stages are indicating us that this SUV was traveling westbound in the 402, crossed over the center median into the eastbound lanes, colliding with the minivan, at which time that SUV then collided with a transport truck,' said Sgt. Ed Sanchuck of West Region OPP. Three people in the van and the SUV driver were taken to the hospital. The driver of the transport truck was uninjured. Eastbound traffic was turned around to allow drivers off the highway. Police continue to investigate, while vehicles are removed. The highway reopened to vehicular traffic just before 10:00 p.m.
