"More jerseys than trophies" - mixed reaction as Bohemians launch Oasis jersey
Oasis return to the stage this Friday in Cardiff some 16 years after their stunning break up and excitement is in overdrive with the Gallagher brothers' reunion.
The Daylymount-based outfit are no strangers to linking up with or paying tribute to some of music's finest. The club has previously launched strips linked with Thin Lizzy, Aslan, Fontaines DC, and Bob Marley.
In recent years, the Gypsies have looked to make a splash with their jerseys, and recent offerings include a Dublin Bus-dedicated strip and a link-up with Guinness.
Half of the profits raised from the Oasis shirt will go to charity, split between Music Generation Ireland and Irish Community Care Manchester. The other half will go to the club itself, with adult jerseys costing €75.
The jersey has divided opinions, with some praising it while others criticising the launch of another new strip.
"More jerseys than trophies," said one fan on social media.
"May aswell turn the trophy room into a kit room at this stage," said another.
But the strip did receive plenty of praise too.
"Take my money once again," said one football fan on social media.
"Another all timer, what a club," added another.
"Superb shirt and marketing," added another.
Daniel Lambert, the chief operating officer at Bohemians, said: 'We are delighted to unveil this jersey today following lots of work with the Oasis over the past six months.
'Special thanks to Noel and Liam (Gallagher) for supporting this. To be able to work with Oasis and design a new iconic shirt that will reach fans around the world is special.
'And to once again have funds going towards such worthy causes, that will assist thousands of people across Ireland and Manchester is brilliant.'
Lambert added: 'As a fan-owned football club and a not-for-profit entity, the impact on Bohemian FC will be significant and we are most grateful for the support.
'I would also like to thank Paul Weller who features in the promotional video and came to Dublin specifically to do so.'

I went from having a curtains haircut and listening to Whigfield to having the basin haircut, getting the baggy checked shirts and walking around in shades even when the sun wasn't out. So, I started buying bits and bobs for fun. Then I got a phone call from Alan McGee, the record label owner who'd signed Oasis in 1993. 'Either you're f***ing mad, or you're a genius,' he said to me. And he asked me to sell some of his Oasis stuff for charity. Then I started selling and valuing things for ex-bandmembers too. Oasis release show details as tour set to kick off
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite for the first time in more than a decade as they kick off their Oasis Live 25 tour this weekend in Cardiff's Principality Stadium. The band split up in 2009 but announced their reunion tour last year, sending fans wild as they battled it out on Ticketmaster for some of the coveted tickets. While Irish fans still have to wait almost two months before the brothers take to the stage at Croke Park, details of what to expect have been released ahead of the first gig of the tour. Indie rock band Cast and singer-songwriter Richard Ashcroft, known as the frontman of The Verve, support Oasis over the weekend — and are set to be on supporting duties throughout the tour. Both acts have close ties to the Gallagher brothers over the years with Cast opening up for Liam earlier in 2024 as part of his Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary tour. Oasis are set to take to the stage at 8.15pm with the band confirming that curfew is 10.30pm — meaning they are due to play more than two hours of their greatest hits in their first show back. It comes as the band collaborated with beloved Dublin soccer club, Bohemians FC for their latest jersey. The fan-owned club have revealed the new design will be worn during the upcoming FAI Cup campaign to pay 'homage to the one of the greatest bands of all time, and two of Ireland's most famous sons.' The highly coveted jersey features the Oasis logo in the traditional blue tones of Dublin City, with a 90s styling and sublimated chevron patterns, as well as a white and blue collar and sleeve trims.
