Marvel Adds Possible Fourth Movie to 2028 Slate
Yara Sameh
Disney announced on Wednesday that Marvel Studios is scheduled to release an untitled movie on December 15, 2028.
It would be the fourth movie from the division set for that calendar year, with previously announced films scheduled for release in February, May, and November of 2028. Should all four films hold onto those dates — which is not nearly certain — it would be an unexpected move for the studio, given Disney CEO Bob Iger's recent public admission that Marvel 'lost a little focus by making too much.'
'We all know that in our zeal to flood our streaming platform with more content, that we turned to all of our creative engines, including Marvel, and had them produce a lot more,' Iger said during an investor call in May. 'We've also learned over time that quantity does not necessarily beget quality. And frankly, we've all admitted to ourselves that we lost a little focus by making too much. By consolidating a bit and having Marvel focus much more on their films, we believe that will result in better quality.'
It is quite unclear, however, whether Marvel will release four films in 2028. Disney has a history of holding onto release dates for feature projects well past when those films could realistically make those dates to ensure they remain available for other films from the company: Marvel's 'Blade' was removed from its November 2025 release date only after Disney was ready to slot the 20th Century Studios film 'Predator: Badlands' in its place.
For 2026 and 2027, Marvel has significantly winnowed its feature slate. After 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' opens in July, the studio is producing two films in 2026 — 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' (a co-production with Sony Pictures) in July and 'Avengers: Doomsday' in December; and two films in 2027 — an untitled project in July and 'Avengers: Secret Wars' in December.
'Secret Wars' is meant to be the finale of the Multiverse Saga, after which Marvel is expected to pivot to a saga centered around characters inherited in Disney's 2019 acquisition of 20th Century Fox: the X-Men.
'Thunderbolts*' director Jake Schreier has been tapped to helm the MCU's first mutant movie (although many actors from Fox's 'X-Men' movies in the 2000s, including Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, will appear in 'Doomsday').
Other Marvel projects in development that could wind up opening in 2028 include the aforementioned 'Blade,' 'Black Panther 3,' and a 'Fantastic Four' sequel.

"Lilo & Stitch 2" Live-Action Movie in Works
Yara Sameh Get ready for more Stitch mayhem. Disney is developing a sequel to its live-action remake of " Lilo & Stitch ". The studio announced the follow-up on 6/26 — a reference to the wild blue alien's government name, Experiment 626. In a brief teaser, Stitch drives a hot-pink convertible through the Disney lot as he shouts, 'Get ready. Here we go!'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Walt Disney Studios (@disneystudios) News of the follow-up film comes as 'Lilo & Stitch' has grossed over $910 million at the global box office since Memorial Day weekend. Originally planned as a straight-to-streaming release, the PG adventure is on pace to become the year's first billion-dollar blockbuster, and this is just the theatrical windfall. Long before he and Lilo returned to the big screen, Stitch-themed merchandise has remained a huge moneymaker for Disney in the 23 years since the original 2002 animated film. In 2024, Disney sold $2.6 billion in consumer products featuring the 'Lilo & Stitch' characters. 'Lilo & Stitch' follows an adorable blue extraterrestrial creature who crash-lands in Hawaii and gets adopted by a young girl and her older sister. Dean Fleischer Camp directed the remake, which is benefiting from generation-spanning appeal a short two decades after the original 2002 animated film. Disney hasn't announced the details, including the creative team, plot details or release timeline, for the sequel. 'Lilo & Stitch' is one of Disney's more successful live-action remakes, joining the likes of 2019's 'The Lion King,' 2017's 'Beauty and the Beast' and 2019's 'Aladdin.' However, not every Disney classic has proved worthy of the revival treatment, with this year's 'Snow White' and 2019's 'Dumbo' among its costly box office failures. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Marvel's "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" Runtime Revealed
Yara Sameh The runtime for Marvel's highly anticipated movie " The Fantastic Four: First Steps " has been revealed. While AMC Theatres previously listed the superhero adventure at a generous 130 minutes, the theater chain has just quietly shaved that down. It is now officially clocking in at 115 minutes, making it the shortest Marvel Studios release of 2025. For context, that's 1 hour and 55 minutes — a fairly standard runtime by most blockbuster standards, but surprisingly compact for an MCU film that's introducing a brand-new reality, a massive villain like Galactus, and Marvel's First Family all in one go. This isn't just a minor tweak. The original runtime of 130 minutes — just over two hours— had positioned "First Steps" among the longer entries of the Multiverse Saga. Now, with only a month to go until the film hits theaters on July 25, AMC's updating the listing brings it down by a full 15 minutes, which is enough time to cut an entire action sequence or at least a few of Reed Richards' monologues. Still, at 115 minutes, "First Steps" is now the shortest MCU film of the year, trailing "Captain America: Brave New World" (118 minutes), "Thunderbolts*" (127 minutes), "Deadpool & Wolverine" (128 minutes), and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" (150 minutes). The only movie with less screentime in recent MCU history was "The Marvels", which breezed by at just 105 minutes. "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. The cosmic conflict comes courtesy of Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer. It also stars Matthew Wood, Mark Gatiss, Sarah Niles, and some heavily guarded mystery roles played by John Malkovich, Paul Walter Hauser, and Natasha Lyonne. Directed by Matt Shakman ('WandaVision') and written by Peter Cameron, the film doesn't just change the runtime formula — it throws out the entire setting. Set in a retro-futuristic 1960s Manhattan, the film introduces a version of Earth separate from the so-called 'sacred timeline.' "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" marks the second MCU movie after "Deadpool & Wolverine" to exist outside the main universe. The multiverse is multiversing. The full synopsis reads: "Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' introduces Marvel's First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal." "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" will open exclusively in theaters on July 25. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
