Tyler Perry's Hit BET+ Series ‘Sistas' Gets ‘Divorced Sistas' Spinoff Starring LeToya Luckett

Yahoo13-05-2025

Tyler Perry is expanding the world of Sistas yet again with a brand new spinoff series, Divorced Sistas, set to premiere this summer on BET and its streaming service, BET+ — coinciding with the 2025 BET Awards.
Leading Divorced Sistas is the talented LeToya Luckett, known for her role in Greenleaf, alongside a strong lineup that includes Khadeen Indréa (Ellis Ever After), Porscha Coleman (Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!), Briana Price (Step Up: High Water), Jennifer Sears (Madea's Family Funeral), RonReaco Lee (Survivor's Remorse), DeVon Franklin (Kingdom Business), Donovan Christie Jr. (The Oval), and Robert Christopher Riley (Dynasty).
According to the series' synopsis, the spinoff centers on five close friends — Rasheda, Geneva, Naomi, Tiffany, and Bridgette — as they 'navigate life, love and the challenges that come with divorce, marriage and dating. As they lean on each other through heartbreak and healing, their biggest test comes from within their own circle, challenging their loyalty, character and true bond of sisterhood.'
'This is a story of resilience and the power of female friendship,' stated Perry about the show. 'I hope audiences fall in love with these dynamic characters and are able to explore their own personal truths about healing and love through them.'
This exciting new project marks the second spinoff of the Sistas franchise — following the success of Zatima — and is the first under Perry's expanded multiyear content partnership with BET Media Group. The series is created, written, and directed by Perry.
Divorced Sistas premiers on June 9. See the trailer below.

Netflix's Wild Teen Gambling Drama 'Bet' Is Coming Back for Season 2

Netflix has officially gone all-in on Bet, its hot show with a 60 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Deadline reported that the streamer announced it has renewed the live-action thriller for a second season, bringing back the high-stakes world of underground gambling at an elite boarding school. Based on the Japanese manga Kakegurui, Bet follows the twisted social hierarchy at St. Dominic's, where status isn't earned through grades or athletic ability, but through strategic, high-risk gambling. The arrival of Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student played by Miku Martineau, quickly turns the school on its head. Her uncanny skill at games of chance and her hidden agenda set her on a collision course with the powerful student council. The show's first season drew global buzz, landing in Netflix's Top 10 English-language series for three straight weeks. Fans were quick to embrace its chaotic energy, stylized aesthetic, and the psychological warfare that played out in every hand dealt. "I'm extremely happy for our amazing Bet fans from all over the world, who get to enjoy another season," said showrunner and director Simon Barry. "And for this incredible cast and crew to return to St. Dominic's for more gambling and general madness." Season 2 will feature 10 new episodes, each running 30 minutes, and promises to ramp up the psychological tension. The ensemble cast also includes Ayo Solanke, Eve Edwards, Clara Alexandrova, Hunter Cardinal, Anwen O'Driscoll, Aviva Mongillo, Laura Afelskie, Dorian Giordano, Emma Elle Paterson, Ryan Sutherland, and Peter Outerbridge. Behind the scenes, Bet is produced by Boat Rocker, with Barry joined by executive producers Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell. With its mix of elite privilege, cutthroat gamesmanship, and revenge-fueled drama, Bet has carved out a unique space in Netflix's teen thriller lineup. And if the first season is any indication, viewers can expect season two to double down on the Wild Teen Gambling Drama 'Bet' Is Coming Back for Season 2 first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 25, 2025

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez tie the knot in opulent Venice wedding

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are officially husband and wife. The Amazon founder, who's been linked to Sánchez since 2019, hosted an extravagant, reportedly $50-million celebration in Venice, Italy, stretching three days. From the lavish location to the celebrity guest list, the event has attracted a media frenzy, but also experienced its fair share of hiccups — including a last-minute venue change to the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Here's what we know about the wedding so far. Sánchez opted for a custom Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown inspired by Sophia Loren's gown in the 1958 film 'Houseboat.' This marks the first time Sánchez has worn such a high-necked formal dress, she told Vogue. 'It is a departure from what people expect,' she said, 'from what I expect — but it's very much me.' The bride shared two images of her dress Friday on Instagram, where she also updated her handle to @laurensanchezbezos. Other ensembles planned for the big day were a corseted gown inspired by the Rita Hayworth film 'Gilda' and an Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress with 175,000 crystals, according to Vogue. Sánchez's 'something borrowed' was a pair of Dolce & Gabbana Alta Gioielleria Miracolo earrings, according to Vogue. And her 'something blue,' she revealed, was a souvenir she brought on her controversial 11-minute Blue Origin spaceflight. 'It was literally one of the most profound experiences I've ever had in my life,' she told Vogue. 'Jeff said, 'It's gonna change you more than you think,' and it completely has, visually, spiritually.' As expected, several A-listers made the 200-person guest list. Notably, Orlando Bloom arrived solo after reportedly ending his engagement with Katy Perry. Sánchez seemed to acknowledge Perry's absence, commenting, 'We miss you Katy,' Friday on the pop star's Instagram. Perry famously joined Sánchez on the Blue Origin space flight and has received a disproportionate amount of the criticism. Though President Trump was not present (despite reports that he received an invitation), his daughter Ivanka Trump and Ivanka's husband, Jared Kushner, were in attendance, along with in-laws Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner. Other celebrities in attendance were Kim and Khloé Kardashian; Kris, Kylie and Kendall Jenner; Bill Gates and Paula Hurd; Sydney Sweeney; Tom Brady; Leonardo DiCaprio; Usher; Eva Longoria and José Bastón; Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller; Oprah Winfrey; and Gayle King, who was also aboard the Blue Origin spaceflight. The lavish celebration was not without its critics. The No Space for Bezos movement — a combination of anti-cruise ship campaigners, university groups and housing advocates — staged protests throughout Venice leading up to the event, even planning to obstruct canal access to prevent wedding guests from reaching the venue, according to the Associated Press. The newlyweds reportedly had to make an eleventh hour venue change, opting for the more secluded and secure Arsenale for the Saturday reception, according to local media.

Lauren Sánchez Sends Public Message to Katy Perry as She Misses Her Wedding to Jeff Bezos

THE RUNDOWN Katy Perry's ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, has been in Venice, Italy, this week for the wedding of their friends Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Perry won't be joining the weekend nuptials—but not because of any drama between her and Bloom. Perry has to work: She is performing at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Australia on June 26, 27, 29, and 30 as part of her Lifetimes Tour. After her Adelaide shows, the singer will get a little break before her next concert date on July 10 at Denver's Ball Arena. On Friday, Sánchez posted a message of support on Perry's Instagram. The singer shared a carousel of photos documenting her time in Australia, which included some yacht and zoo time. 'Mood: Quokka,' Perry wrote. Sánchez commented, 'We miss you Katy ❤️' Earlier this week, sources revealed that Perry and Bloom had ended their six-year engagement. On Thursday, an insider told People that 'the split is amicable. They got to a point where they feel there is no going back to a healthy relationship and that it's better to live separate lives.' It's been a difficult period for Perry, the source added: 'She's felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It's been a lot for her. She's still doing great though.' She and Bloom are now focused on co-parenting their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy. 'Katy has every intention of maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with Orlando,' a source explained to People. 'He's the father of their daughter, and that will always come first for her. They've been through a lot together and while they've decided to go their separate ways, there's still a mutual respect between them. They're still very much in touch and co-parenting Daisy together. For the sake of their daughter, they're committed to keeping things amicable.' While Perry isn't at the wedding, many celebrities are. Stars spotted in Venice for the nuptials so far include Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Sydney Sweeney, Tom Brady, and Oprah Winfrey.
