Kerala Governor fuelled Bharat Mata row, he must defuse it: Binoy Viswam
Speaking to mediapersons in Alappuzha on Monday, Mr. Viswam said that it was the Governor himself who had ignited the Bharat Mata controversy, and it was his responsibility to defuse it.
'India does not recognise Bharat Mata as a woman draped in saffron, holding a flag and riding a lion. Only those who attend RSS shakhas are familiar with that image. The RSS does not have the authority to impose its version of Bharat Mata. Attempts are being made to display that image not only inside Raj Bhavan but also in universities. Kerala will not accept it,' he said.
The CPI leader said the Governor seemed to have forgotten that universities should not be held hostage to any political ideology. 'Bharat Mata is, in fact, the countless men and women who make up India,' Mr. Viswam said.
Stating that the Tricolour national flag is 'the true symbol of India', he said that neither the BJP, the RSS, nor the Governor had the right to 'monopolise the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai.'
Mr. Viswam also warned that filling wetlands and paddy fields at Aranmula would lead to disaster. 'The Left Democratic Front will never implement any project in Kerala that undermines nature and the environment,' he said.

In a statement quoted by TOI, retired inspector Mehiboob Mujawar, who was part of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) that initially probed the blast, said the recent acquittal had exposed the 'fake things' done during the investigation.'The verdict exposed the fake investigation done by a fake officer,' Mujawar said, directly naming a senior ATS further alleged that he received confidential orders to act against several individuals, including Ram Kalsangra, Sandip Dange, Dilip Patidar, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. 'I can not say what investigation the ATS did then and why... But I was given some confidential orders regarding personalities like Ram Kalsangra, Sandip Dange, Dilip Patidar and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. All these orders were not such that one could follow them,' TOI quoted Mujawar as claimed he chose not to comply with the orders because he found them 'horrific' and 'knew the reality.''It was beyond my capacity to apprehend a towering personality like Mohan Bhagwat. As I did not follow the orders, a false case was registered against me and it destroyed my career of 40 years,' he said he has documentary proof to support his claims and insisted that the saffron terror theory was fabricated. 'There was no saffron terrorism. Everything was fake,' he Malegaon blast on September 29, 2008, killed six people and injured several others. The explosion took place near a mosque during Ramzan and on the eve of Navratri. The Maharashtra ATS, then led by the late Hemant Karkare, had arrested Pragya Thakur and Prasad Purohit, alleging that the motorcycle used in the blast belonged to Thakur, and that Purohit had sourced RDX from Jammu and Kashmir. A former Maharashtra Police officer who was part of the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) that probed the 2008 Malegaon blast case has claimed that he was asked to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in connection with the an exclusive conversation with India Today TV, the retired officer, Mehboob Mujawar, alleged that the directive by the Investigating Officer Paramveer Singh aimed to create the narrative of 'saffron terror' in was directed by Paramveer Singh, and those above him asked me to arrest these individuals --Ram Kalsangra, Sandip Dange, Dilip Patidar, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. It was beyond my capacity to arrest someone like Mohan Bhagwat, who holds significant influence in Maharashtra," the officer said. Mujawar was speaking after the trial court's verdict on Thursday acquitting all seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, in the blast that killed six and injured over 100. The court underlined the lack of credible evidence, procedural lapses, and unreliable witness testimonies that weakened the prosecution's retired officer alleged that the verdict exposed the "fabricated investigation" conducted by a "fake officer", further claiming that he was falsely implicated by the Investigating Officer for refusing to comply with his unlawful orders."They asked me to file a charge sheet showing dead people as alive. When I refused, the then IPS officer, Paramveer Singh, implicated me in a false case... I protested because I did not want to engage in false work, and as a result, fabricated cases were registered against me. I have been acquitted in all of them," he continued. Nearly 17 years after the blast in Malegaon town in northern Maharashtra, a special court in Mumbai on Thursday acquitted all the seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit, noting there was "no reliable and cogent evidence" against ATS, which initially probed the incident, had alleged that the blast was carried out by individuals linked to a right-wing extremist group called 'Abhinav Bharat' and had claimed that the motorcycle used in the blast belonged to Pragya Singh Thakur and that other accused, including Colonel Purohit. It had alleged a larger conspiracy to create communal the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which took over the probe, found major flaws in the ATS investigation and dropped charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), giving a clean chit to some of the trial, which began in 2018, saw over 300 prosecution witnesses, with a significant number turning hostile. The NIA special court acquitted all seven accused, citing a lack of "cogent and reliable evidence" to prove the judge noted that the prosecution had failed to establish that the bomb was fitted on the motorcycle, that the bike belonged to Thakur, or that Purohit had stored or assembled the explosives.
