Bengaluru Infosys employee admits to recording women in office restroom, says it gave him ‘satisfaction': Report
Following a complaint filed by the woman's husband on Tuesday, police took Mali into the custody. A search of his phone revealed a collection of videos, including footage of the complainant and other women, raising concerns that multiple victims may be involved. 'We are investigating how long this behavior continued and whether more women were targeted. We are also checking if he shared these videos elsewhere,' said Inspector B G Naveen Kumar of the Electronics City police station.

In a disturbing revelation, he also confessed to police that he had previously recorded at least one more woman in a similar manner. During interrogation, the accused, Swapnil Nagesh Mali, told investigators he derived 'satisfaction' from watching such videos and had over 50 related clips saved on his mobile phone, reported The Times of India.

Hailing from Sangli district in Maharashtra, Mali holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree and is the son of a farmer. Police said his family was shocked and devastated upon learning of his arrest.
After being produced before a magistrate, Mali was granted station bail, as the charges invoked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) carry a punishment of less than seven years. The court also issued a reminder to the police about ensuring proper arrest protocols are followed to avoid procedural lapses that could potentially result in acquittal.
Officials have confirmed that a detailed forensic analysis of Mali's phone is underway, and further legal action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
Infosys has since issued a statement confirming that the employee has been terminated from service and that the company is cooperating fully with authorities. 'We acted promptly to support the complainant and facilitated her filing a police complaint. The individual has been separated from the company,' the statement read.

Surat man held at Ahmedabad airport for travelling on fake passport
Ahmedabad: A Surat resident was arrested at the Ahmedabad airport on Friday for allegedly travelling on a fraudulently obtained Indian passport. Pramod Ithape, security assistant at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport registered a complaint against Prakashkumar Dave, a resident of Punagam in Surat. Ithape stated that on Friday, Dave, holding Indian Emergency Certificate No. X1022911 approached for immigration clearance after arriving from Berlin via Qatar on a Qatar Airways flight. Burial of bodies in Dharmastala: Complainant produces some skeletal remains
The person, who claims to have buried many persons who were murdered and raped in Dharmastala, on Friday (July 11, 2025), July 11, produced before the Principal Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate First Class, Belthangady court, some of the skeletal remains of the bodies that he claimed to have exhumed on his own. The complainant, who claims to have worked as a sanitary worker in Dharmastala between 1995 and December 2014, filed a complaint on July 3, stating that he was forced to bury many bodies in Dharmastala a decade ago. These bodies were of both men and women, who were allegedly murdered and raped. While asking police to conduct an inquiry into those deaths by exhuming the remains, the complainant sought police protection. He also offered to show police the places where he claims to have buried bodies. The bodies included those, which according to him, were murdered in a 'cruel manner' before him. After taking permission of the court, the Dharmastala police registered for offence under section 211 (a) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on July 4. As requested by the complainant not to reveal his identity, the police did not reveal his name. The police did not post the FIR on the Karnataka Police's FIR portal. On Friday (July 11, 2025), the complainant came to the Magistrate court along with a team of advocates. A mask was placed on his face of the complainant as he entered the court. The Magistrate recorded his statement by sending advocates out from the court hall. Inquiry The police said advocates representing the complainant have posted the FIR and also released press note, which gave details including the age, nature and period of work, place of work, in the social media. These details have led to many locals, narrowing down on the identity of the complainant. This was despite the complainant seeking identity protection, which led police to maintain the identity undisclosed for all official purposes. A separate inquiry by Deputy Superintendent of Police has been initiated on the advocates of complainant. The protection of the complainant was approved by the competent authority in the district on Thursday (July 10, 2025) and it has come into immediate effect, the police stated.

Karnataka: Complainant's statement recorded in Dharmasthala Mass Burials case; granted witness protection
Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka) [India], June 12 (ANI): In a key development in the Dharmasthala Mass Burials case, the complainant's statement was recorded today by the Principal Civil Judge and JMFC, Belthangady Taluk, Dakshina Kannada. The statement was taken under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), which corresponds to Section 164 of the former Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). However, the process has raised concerns among the complainant's legal representatives, advocates Ojaswi Gowda and Sachin Deshpande. The advocates stated that they had 'firmly and clearly instructed' the complainant that one of them should be present during the recording of the statement. They pointed out that the complainant is 'illiterate, has never been to a Court before and had expressed serious difficulty with the process.' Despite raising these concerns and requesting to be present, the statement was recorded in their absence. 'This is for information and record,' the advocates said. In a related development, the complainant has been granted protection under the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018. A formal communication in this regard was sent to the complainant's legal team on the evening of July 10, by the concerned authorities.
