115-song Billy Joel 'And So It Goes' playlist hits YouTube, Spotify, streaming sites
Need a new playlist for weekend listening or an upcoming road trip? Billy Joel has got you covered.
Just hours after the second half of documentary "Billy Joel: And So It Goes" hit HBO Max on July 25, streaming services made available a massive playlist of Joel's music from the movie.
The 155-track "musical companion" the documentary can be found on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and other music streaming services. The playlist includes 115 songs that span his five-decade career, ranging from his early bands The Lost Souls and The Hassles to a 2024 performance of "New York State of Mind" from his 100th concert during his Madison Square Garden residency.
In addition to the 115 songs, there are also audio clips from the documentary featuring Joel, his first wife, Elizabeth Weber, and others, which serve as introductions to the musical tracks. The version on YouTube also includes official music videos for several songs including "Big Shot," "Pressure" and "The River of Dreams," and live performance videos of songs such as "The Stranger" and "Just the Way You Are."

The playlist is produced by creative director Steve Cohen, engineer Bradshaw Leigh and Joel archivist John Jackson and there may be more music coming out of the vault, Cohen told the Ultimate Classic Rock website. Coming to Joel's YouTube channel on Monday, July 28 is a performance of "Piano Man" recorded in 1975 on the U.K. TV show "The Old Grey Whistle Test," Cohen told Ultimate Classic Rock.
Among the unreleased live recordings and demo versions included on the playlist, Rolling Stone notes, is the first-ever live performance of 'Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,' recorded May 6, 1977 at Long Island's C.W. Post College.

British Comic Nish Kumar on How YouTube Helped Him Achieve Success Outside of the U.K.
British comic and podcast host Nish Kumar knows the value of Netflix specials for A-listers like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. But he sees emerging comedians like himself with slow-burn careers often getting their biggest boost globally from YouTube after years playing clubs big and small back home. 'I'm primarily known in North America because of a British show called Taskmaster, which people outside the UK watch on YouTube,' Kumar told The Hollywood Reporter while performing at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. The podcast gig followed Kumar appearing on stage at a live London comedy show produced by Crooked Media, which was followed by that proverbial chance call from Hollywood. Soon after he walked off stage, he got a call from Los Angeles asking if he could be at a meeting in London in 20 minutes. 'And I was like, I'm already there. I'm literally in the audience. So I got pulled out of the crowd like Courteney Cox in the 'Dancing in the Dark' video,' Kumar recalled. Later, Crooked Media asked if he'd be interested in launching and hosting a British show, which he did. Kumar's Pod Save the UK offers a weekly fix on U.K. politics. That means Kumar and co-host Khan got to cover the downfall of British prime minister Boris Johnson over his rule-breaking parties in No. 10 during the COVID-19 pandemic. 'In terms of historic failures of leadership, I think Johnson's conduct in the pandemic is one of those things that people will study for years,' Kumar says. But while the U.K.'s Conservative Party sent Johnson packing, Kumar has a take on why Donald Trump, also judged by many as a political buffoon whose erratic style endears him to followers, was restored to the White House for a second term. 'Trump has killed the broad church in the Republican Party. It's no longer a political party. It's a delivery system for a single man and that's a huge problem,' he insists. As Nigel Farage, a protégé of Trump, challenges Britain's current Labor government in the polls, Kumar doesn't look forward to his Reform UK party coming to power to reinvigorate his political comedy. 'The thing with (Farage) and Trump is there is a shamelessness. It actually makes it harder to make fun of them. Politicians in theory are supposed to conduct themselves with a level of dignity that means there's something to prick for principles. Farage and Trump are congenitally shameless men,' Kumar said. Christie Brinkley reveals Billy Joel's three final words to her before she left him
Billy Joel said he was "devastated" when second wife Christie Brinkley left him during their nine-year marriage that ended in divorce in 1994. "I realized love is not concrete," the "Uptown Girl" singer told the producers in the second part of his documentary "Billy Joel: And So it Goes." He added, "You know, you feel like it is, but there are things eating away at it, and in the end it all catches up. And it's hard. And I was so devastated." An obviously emotional Brinkley said she had tried. Christie Brinkley Recounts The Devastating Personal Moment That 'Nearly Broke Her' "I wanted it to work. I knew how lucky I was, having music and all that, but it just didn't work," she explained. The former couple met in 1983 in St. Barts. They married in 1985 and soon had their only daughter, Alexa Ray Joel. "And I just got like 'I don't even know what to do, but I can't be lonely just me and Alexa in this big old house that was supposed to be so full of life and love and music and laughter and all that.' Things were starting to deteriorate." Joel said it was a hard time for him because they were newly married and had a young daughter, but he was on the road a lot of the time. Joel's own parents divorced when he was 8 years old, around the same age as Alexa when he and Brinkley divorced in 1994, but Joel's father left after the divorce, and he didn't see him again until he was in his 20s. "I don't think it's a secret that his drinking got pretty bad, and he couldn't really remember what he did when he was drinking, so he didn't really know how he could hurt people," Brinkley added. They divorced five years later, and he married his current wife, Alexis Roderick, in 2015. They share two daughters. Before his marriage to Brinkley, Joel was married to Elizabeth Small from 1973 until 1983. The first part of "Billy Joel: And So it Goes" premiered last Friday on HBO and for streaming on HBO Max.
