Sergio Garcia snaps driver in rage at The Open after wild tee shot
Seething Sergio Garcia disrupted the calm morning air at Royal Portrush by snapping his driver in rage.
The Spanish star lost the plot on the second tee after sending a wild shot off target.
Garcia was furious at himself and cracked his club into the deck. As he smashed it into the turf, the head came flying off leaving him without a big dog for the rest of the round.
The LIV ace is desperate to do well at The Open to give himself a chance of making The Ryder Cup team for the clash against the United States at Bethpage in September.
However, at level par, he's been unable to trouble the leaders in Northern Ireland and his chances of playing in Luke Donald 's team look slim.
At the beginning of the month, Europe's record points scorer had outlined his ambitions as he said: 'It's going to be my second time playing at Royal Portrush, and it's obviously nice.
"It's one of the goals that you have at the beginning of the year, to try to play as many majors as you can with the limitations that we get.
"I didn't help myself very much the last three months, but I'm glad that I got enough work done in the first third of the year, in the first part of the season. I'm excited about it and, hopefully, I'll play well.
'It's a five-week stretch, so it's going to be Dallas, BMW Munich, Valderrama, British Open and JCB, so it's a big stretch. But thankfully I'm doing well physically, even at my age, and hopefully I'll be able to get through the five weeks well.'
'If they had told me I was going to be in this position and with a chance of being on the Ryder Cup team, obviously I would have taken it without a doubt. Now what I have to do is keep showing my strengths, keep showing my golf, especially what I showed in the first third of the year.
'The good thing is that I know I'm on Luke's ballot and I just have to keep showing that I can do good things and that I can help the team. The Ryder Cup is my favourite golf tournament in the world.
'It would be incredible to be able to compete in another Ryder Cup, especially knowing that in New York, at Bethpage, it's going to be tough and maybe a little experience always comes in handy.'

'Hard to come by' - Man Utd urged to sign £34m former Chelsea star
Manchester United have been urged to consider a move for Atletico Madrid's Conor Gallagher to beef up their options in central midfield. The Red Devils' early transfer activity has focused on improving their attacking output after a dismal season last time out under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. Matheus Cunha has already arrived from Wolves, while United are now close to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. A move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson could also be in the works after United held talks with the striker's representatives. But United are looking to make signings, elsewhere, and will no doubt need further cover in central midfield following the departure of Christian Eriksen at the start of the summer. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. And former United midfielder Gordon Strachan reckons Ruben Amorim's side would benefit from Gallagher's talents to provide some much-needed energy in the middle of the park. 'Man Utd don't need a bit more bite, they need legs, real legs, real closing down,' he told OLBG. 'Can Conor Gallagher do that? Yes he can, he's definitely got legs, he's a good team mate. 'Has he got enough imagination? I don't know, but if you have people like that with legs in there and have imagination around them, then he'd be a good signing. 'The days of the luxury player, if you want to be a top side, are gone. So, Conor Gallagher has definitely got the legs. 'He's got the robustness. Has he got goals? Has he got that flair? These players are hard to come by. More Trending 'Would I take him compared to some of the players that I've played over the last couple of years at Man Utd? Yes, I would.' Gallagher enjoyed an impressive maiden season at Atletico after joining from Chelsea for £34million, but could find his future in a state of limbo after the signing of Thiago Almada from Botafogo. Almada's arrival means Diego Simeone's side now has four non-EU players, which exceeds the threshold of three allowed within a La Liga squad. Samuel Lino and Nahuel Molina are the other two non-EU players at Atletico, with Spanish outlet COPE reporting that one non-EU player is now expected to leave this summer. Marcus Rashford travels to Catalonia as Barcelona move appears close
Rashford posted on social media a picture of himself travelling on a private plane, and Spanish media reported that the Manchester United forward had arrived in Catalonia at around 9.30pm local time. The PA news agency understands a broad agreement is in place following talks between United and Barcelona over a season-long loan that would include an option to buy. The 27-year-old has not played for his boyhood club since being hauled off in a Europa League match away to Viktoria Plzen on December 12 and ended the season on loan at Aston Villa. Rashford is among five players to have informed United they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford, where he came through the academy and scored 138 goals in 426 first-team appearances. He has been training away from Ruben Amorim's first-team since pre-season began while seeking a fresh start elsewhere. In December, the England international admitted he was 'ready for a new challenge' and last month revealed he would like to play alongside Barcelona's teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal. Barcelona sporting director Deco in May told Catalan radio station RAC1 that the club 'like' Rashford, who does not have a squad number at United having lost the 10 shirt to new signing Matheus Cunha. Cunha is one of two new signings at United this summer, with the club having also added left-back Diego Leon. Bryan Mbeumo is set to join them at Old Trafford, with the Cameroon forward in the final stages of completing his move after United finally struck a deal with Brentford worth £65million plus up to £6million in add-ons.
