'I'll f**king kill you': Travis Kelce reveals he was paralyzed with fear after nfl star threatened to kill him on the field

Travis Kelce
may be a three-time
Super Bowl
champion now, but his early
NFL
days were anything but glamorous. In a candid podcast appearance, the Kansas City Chiefs star revealed a chilling moment from 2014 when
Clay Matthews
, then a feared linebacker, allegedly threatened to kill him on the field—leaving Kelce frozen in fear and humbled by NFL reality.
Travis Kelce recalls terrifying threat from Clay Matthews
Kelce recently shared a striking memory on the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast – an encounter that left him utterly speechless. It involved the formidable former Green Bay Packers linebacker, Clay Matthews, and a brief, impactful moment at Lambeau Field that truly shook the young Kelce.
"It was 2014 - one of my first games - and I had maybe 10 catches total in my career up to that point," Kelce recalled. He remembered thinking, "'This is Lambeau.
This is my moment. People are gonna know me after this.' I see Clay Matthews and I'm like, 'Oh [expletive], that's Clay Matthews.'"
Kelce went on to depict blocking Matthews during a play. Riding high on the success of the hit, the confident young tight end decided to try some trash talk. That's when Matthews turned, squared up, and delivered a stark warning that Kelce paraphrased as, "Don't [expletive] ever [expletive] talk to me.
I'll [expletive] kill you,' or something along the lines..." Kelce confessed, "I just stood there - couldn't even say anything after that.
"
The message was obvious: Matthews wasn't in the mood for a rookie's chatter. This moment served as a profound, although harsh lesson in the unwritten rules of the NFL – a reminder that experienced legends like Matthews didn't take kindly to being challenged by unproven players.
The story, a mix of intimidating and humorous, quickly resonated online. Matthews himself playfully chimed in on X, tweeting, "Allegedly @tkelce. We were BFFs by the end of the game," adding a lighthearted twist.

Now a multiple Super Bowl champion and widely considered one of the greatest tight ends in history, Kelce can look back at such formative experiences with a grin. Despite facing rumors of retirement after a 2024 season that saw his lowest full-season receiving yards, Kelce eventually chose to return. At 35, he remains a vital cog in the Chiefs' offense, and with
Patrick Mahomes
at quarterback, the possibility of another deep playoff run is always accessible.

India vs England: 'Very tempting to play Kuldeep, but ...': Shubman Gill explains Edgbaston selection call

Shubnam Gill (Pic credit: BCCI) Shubman Gill , leading India in a historic series-levelling triumph at Edgbaston, revealed the rationale behind excluding in-form wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI. Despite the allure of Kuldeep's wicket-taking prowess, the team opted for Washington Sundar to bolster lower-order batting following twin collapses in the Leeds Test. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'It's very tempting when you have a bowler like Kuldeep,' Gill said after India's emphatic 336-run win. 'One of the reasons why I wanted to play Washington was because he gives us batting depth.' Poll How do you feel about India's chances at Lord's? Very optimistic Cautiously optimistic Not very optimistic Pessimistic Washington vindicated that decision with his all-round performance — offering key contributions with both bat and ball — helping India to their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston and their biggest victory overseas by runs. Shubman Gill, Gautam Gambhir shut critics with thumping win over England Gill highlighted how a crucial partnership between himself and Washington shifted momentum. 'If there was no partnership, our lead would have been around 70-80-90 runs, which is psychologically very different from 180.' The skipper also emphasised the importance of spinners like Washington and Jadeja when the Dukes ball goes soft after 30-odd overs, offering limited assistance to pacers. 'Sometimes spin gives you more control than fast bowling. That was our mindset.' Elaborating on in-game strategies, Gill admitted taking a calculated risk during England's first innings. 'When they were 83/5, we went for short balls to try for that extra wicket and break through. We leaked some runs but were ahead enough in the game to afford that.' 'Any attack of ours can take 20 wickets anywhere': Shubman Gill hails Mohd Siraj, Akash Deep after historic Edgbaston win Addressing India's long-standing Edgbaston jinx, Gill was unfazed. 'I don't believe in stats or history. I believe this is the best Indian team capable of winning here.' He also disclosed that his dominant form - 585 runs in four innings - was a result of dedicated Test preparation that began as the IPL wound down. 'I want to make the most of this purple patch,' he said. The focus now shifts to Lord's, with Gill optimistic: 'We've got the momentum. If we keep fighting, this could be a series to remember.' IND vs ENG: 'India too good, but …' - Michael Vaughan stands by 3-1 England prediction

Michael Vaughan (Photo Credits: Getty Images) India's stunning 336-run win over England in the second Test at Edgbaston may have levelled the five-match series 1-1, but former England captain Michael Vaughan isn't backing down from his pre-series prediction of a 3-1 victory in favour of the hosts. 'India have been too good this week .. Outstanding performance .. My prediction is still alive .. 3-1 England ..' Vaughan posted on X, acknowledging India's dominance but staying firm on his forecast. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In his column for The Telegraph, however, Vaughan was more critical of England, accusing them of regressing after Headingley. 'This week, they were back to their bad old ways,' he wrote. 'Apart from four hours on the third day where Harry Brook and Jamie Smith batted beautifully, they have been totally dominated by India.' Shubman Gill, Gautam Gambhir shut critics with thumping win over England Vaughan pointed out that England misread their opening win in Leeds, where dropped catches by India tilted the momentum. 'They turned up here and thought they should do everything the same way, and it has backfired,' he said, warning that relying on 'fortune' won't win big series. Poll Will England still win the series 3-1 as predicted by Michael Vaughan? Yes, they will bounce back No, India will take the series 'You win games relying on fortune, but not big series like this one or the Ashes,' he added, urging England to 'evolve' rather than base their method on a single game. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Former pacer Stuart Broad, speaking on Sky Sports, also raised red flags about England's bowling setup. IND vs ENG Test: 'It ended up...' - Ben Stokes blames Edgbaston pitch for England's 337-run hammering

BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND - JULY 06: England batsman Ben Stokes reacts after being dismissed during day five of the Second Test Match between England and India at Edgbaston on July 06, 2025 in Birmingham, England. (Photo by) England captain Ben Stokes on Sunday blamed the Edgbaston surface for his team's 337-run loss in the second Test against India in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. India defeated England by 337 runs to level the five-match Test series 1-1. The third Test between the two sides will be played at Lord's, starting on July 10. 'To be honest, it probably ended up being more of a subcontinent pitch as we got deeper and deeper into the game,' Stokes told the BBC. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'There was certainly a little bit in it to start off with. I think we exposed that very, very well early on. But then just as it got deeper and deeper, it became a real tough slog for us. 'Obviously with the Indian attack in the conditions they are used to, they knew sort of how to expose those conditions better than us. And that can happen sometimes. It's nothing to be too disheartened about, you know. We can take being out-skilled.' 🗣 "It ended up being more of a subcontinent pitch." Ben Stokes thinks the Edgbaston pitch didn't really suit his England side. #ENGvIND #BBCCricket — Test Match Special (@bbctms) July 6, 2025 At the post-match presentation, Stokes pointed towards two situations where England lost the match, as they conceded a huge 180-run lead to India and allowed their batters, including skipper Shubman Gill, to make gigantic scores. Shubman Gill, Gautam Gambhir shut critics with thumping win over England 'Two moments — having them 200-5 and not being able to burst them open after a good start with the ball. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo And being 80-5. It was going to be tough to scrape it back from there. You look back at 200-5 — if we were able to burst them open quicker, things could have been different,' he said. Asked if he's concerned about England's bowlers struggling to fire collectively, Stokes stated, 'I wouldn't say it's a concern. We ran in, we tried everything, we changed plans, but when a team's on top of you — and India are a class team — it's hard to change the momentum. Shubman Gill had an unbelievable performance.'
