Kim Minjae opens up about ongoing injury struggles

Yahoo28-04-2025
For months, Kim Minjae has played through pain, with the Bayern Munich defender battling a persistent Achilles tendon problem.
Although the South Korean international has been given occasional breaks, he has often had to push through the discomfort for his team. Most recently, in Bayern's 3-0 win over Mainz, he was substituted at halftime as the pain became unbearable.
In an interview with Korean broadcaster Leestar TV (via TZ), Kim opened up about his ongoing struggles.
"The Achilles tendon issue is still there, but I'm gritting my teeth. Eyes closed, and just pushing through," he said.
While Kim has faced criticism for his performances this season, he refuses to use his Achilles problems as an excuse.
"Mistakes, injuries, or too many games - those might just be excuses," he said.
"I still need to stay focused. That's my job. In the end, I should have played better.'

Journalist: Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Bayern Munich midfielder

Tottenham Monitoring Joao Palhinha as Bayern Consider Options Spurs show interest in experienced midfielder Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Joao Palhinha's situation as Bayern Munich remain open to offers. According to Florian Plettenberg, the interest is not yet concrete, but Palhinha's representatives are aware of Tottenham's monitoring. Photo IMAGO 'Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Joao Palhinha's situation. It is not concrete at this stage, but there is interest,' reported Plettenberg. The 30-year-old defensive midfielder has been a long-term target for Premier League clubs, and with Bayern now prepared to engage in talks, his future may be revisited. Bayern's stance is clear: 'Bayern are open to talks should suitable offers arrive for the 30 y/o.' Tottenham, seeking greater balance in midfield under Thomas Frank, may yet decide to escalate their interest. Our View – EPL Index Analysis Joao Palhinha is undoubtedly a solid midfielder, and if Spurs had signed him from Fulham a year ago, few would have objected. But now, at 30, the deal starts to feel less like forward planning and more like a patch job. Photo: IMAGO We've seen this film before. A veteran name becomes available, Spurs show interest, talks drag on, and eventually either the price is too high or someone else swoops in. If this is just posturing, then fine. If it's serious, then you hope the club have done the long-term analysis. Palhinha could bring structure and aggression to their midfield, but how does he fit stylistically? Can he keep up with the pace Frank wants? And Bayern are not desperate sellers. They know what they have. So do Spurs really need to take this on unless it's for the right fee, the right contract length, and a clear role within the squad? It's not about saying no to Palhinha, but about asking the right questions. Because after so many misfires, Spurs can't afford to make another short-sighted call.

Report: Woltemade receives priority over Simons at Bayern, Leão still open to move

Within Bayern Munich's supervisory board, there is surprise that Xavi Simons is being linked to the club again. Sport BILD reports that Max Eberl is a big fan of the Dutchman, while Vincent Kompany sees a potential move in a positive light. However, Simons is only an alternative - even though they decided not to submit a third bid for now, the bosses still want Nick Woltemade. The Bavarians' hierarchy believe that time plays in their favour as the Stuttgart striker is determined to move to Die Rekordmeister. Meanwhile, Rafael Leão would still be willing to join Bayern this summer, expressing said desire during a recent conversation. The Portuguese winger recently rejected a big offer from Saudi Arabia as he wants to play at European football's top level. Former RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku is also listed as a €40million option should Bayern fail to attract their main targets.

Zaragoza declines Fenerbahçe move, per Kicker

journalist Frank Linkesch has reported that Bryan Zaragoza has rejected a move to Fenerbahçe. The Turkish Super Lig side was willing to pay a fee in the low double-digit million range, which is what Bayern were looking to get. However, the deal has supposedly fallen through because the player turned down the transfer offer. As things stand, Zaragoza is expected to be at Säbener Straße when Bayern Munich's pre-season starts. Die Rekordmeister want to get the 23-year-old Spaniard off the books, despite a second failed deal after his Celta Vigo move also collapsed.
