Police rule out charges in fatal Hwy. 6 crash
The investigation into a fatal two-vehicle collision that temporarily closed Highway 6 near Espanola last Tuesday has been concluded by police.
The crash involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle took place at about 1:30 p.m. on July 8 and resulted in the death of the lone motorcyclist, a 47-year-old from Kleinburg, Ont.
Members of Ontario Provincial Police, alongside paramedics and the Espanola Fire Department, attended the scene.
The motorcyclist was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were also taken to hospital as a precaution, but sustained no injuries.
Investigation of the crash
Following a thorough investigation with assistance from technical collision investigators and a reconstructionist, police determined the motorcycle had been travelling southbound on Highway 6 before entering the northbound lane and colliding with the oncoming vehicle.
No charges laid
In an updated news release on July 15, OPP confirmed the investigation has concluded.
'The investigation has concluded and there will be no charges,' police said.

Police did not identify the MP's office where the demonstration took place. The group allegedly occupied the area and caused staff members to fear for their safety, police said in a news release issued last week. Officers were called to remove the protesters from the property. During Saturday's protest, police said they recognized a woman in attendance as an outstanding suspect in their investigation. In addition to the four suspects previously charged in connection with the April 24 incident, 32-year-old Toronto resident Ahlam Mohammed was arrested and charged with forcible entry, mischief interfere with property, and unlawful assembly. It's unclear if they are facing any charges following the Saturday protest.

One dead, three sent to hospital after serious crash in northeast Calgary
Calgary police were called to a multi-vehicle crash on 52 Street N.E. on July 21, 2025. One of the crash victims has life-altering injuries, police said. One person has died and three people were taken to hospital after an early Monday morning crash. At 5:14 a.m., police were called to 52 Street and 32 Avenue N.E. for a multi-vehicle crash. On arrival, police discovered one of the vehicles had rolled onto its roof. Officials say three people were taken to hospital in critical condition while a fourth died at the scene. As of 6:30 a.m., 52 Avenue N.E. is closed in both directions while police are at the scene. Traffic on 32 Avenue N.E. is not affected.

Montreal police searching for missing 73-year-old man
Social Sharing Montreal police are asking the public for help finding a 73-year-old man who suffers from heart problems. Robert Joncas was last seen on July 19 around 9 p.m. in Montreal's Saint-Léonard borough, according to a Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) news release. He is a white man who is four feet, seven inches tall and weighs 119 pounds. He has a white horseshoe hairline and green eyes. Police said Joncas could be wearing blue jeans, a green T-shirt and a red cap. They said he speaks French and might be travelling on foot. The SPVM is asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911.
