The PGA Tour Champions saw a dramatic finish this week at the U.S. Senior Open, the fourth of five majors this season.
In what proved to be a wild, back and forth day at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, CO, Padraig Harrington prevailed by one shot over Stewart Cink. It was Harrington's second career U.S. Senior Open win.
But it did not come easy.
There were six lead changes during Sunday's final round, as Cink went tit for tat with the Irishman.

(Photo by) MoreHarrington and Cink played all four rounds together, which is not very common. But the two have played together for years, including on the PGA Tour.
Earlier in the week, the 3-time major champion was in the news for something other than his play. Harrington had words with an NBC Analyst, prompting rabid reactions online.
But it was his play that stole the show on Sunday.
Harrington Shows Clutch Gene
As both Harrington and Cink approached the 18th tee on Sunday, the former held a one-shot lead at 11-under, and had the honors.
He split the fairway, putting a bit of pressure on Cink to answer, which he did in spades. He outdrove the 2-time U.S. Senior Open champion, and put himself in prime position for his approach.
That put the pressure back on Harrington to deliver, and that he did.

The 53-year-old fan favorite showed his clutch gene. He stuck his approach shot inside 10 feet. That forced Cink to have to some up with something special. But the second-place finisher was unable to do so, as his approach failed to stay on the top level and rolled more than 30 feet from the hole.
That allowed Harrington to easily two-putt for another championship.
With the win, he joined some truly exclusive company. Harrington is now only the third golfer ever to win multiple Open Championships and U.S. Senior Opens. The others are true legends of the game: Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.
Harrington won three majors while playing on the PGA Tour, two of which came in 2008: The PGA Championship and Open Championship. That win overseas was his second as he defended his crown, which he won at Carnoustie in 2007.
Since joining the Senior Circuit, he captured the 2022 U.S. Senior Open, while also winning the Charles Schwab Cup that year.
The Irish pro is known for his social media presence, as he loves posting tutorials for Sunday golfers. But this Sunday, he proved that he can still play the game at an elite level.

Son of four-time PGA Tour winner gets through John Deere Classic qualifier in playoff
Carson Herron, the son of four-time PGA Tour winner Tim Herron, will make his PGA Tour debut at this week's John Deere Classic. The 22-year-old Herron, who recently turned pro with no status on any world-ranked tours, won a 3-for-1 playoff at the Monday qualifier at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Illinois, defeating fellow pros Michael Johnson and Blake McShea after all three players matched 6-under 66s. Josh Radcliff of Grapevine, Texas, fired a 9-under 63 to win the qualifier while Korn Ferry Tour players Petr Hruby and Zack Fischer also advanced to the Deere at 8 under. This will also be Radcliff's PGA Tour debut. Herron is coming off a senior season at New Mexico where he won twice, led the Lobos to an NCAA Championship appearance and finished No. 161 in the national individual rankings. He also ended up No. 47 in the PGA Tour University rankings. Notables not advancing through the Monday qualifier include Blades Brown, Doc Redman, Sean O'Hair, Nick Watney, Ian Gilligan and John Augenstein.

Countdown underway for the PGA 3M Open in Blaine. Why it's their deepest field ever.
3M Open organizers say this tournament will be its deepest field yet 3M Open organizers say this tournament will be its deepest field yet 3M Open organizers say this tournament will be its deepest field yet Start the countdown. The 2025 PGA 3M Open is almost here. The 3M Open is taking place at the TPC Twin Cities golf course in Blaine, Minnesota from July 21 through July 27. The tournament says this will be their deepest field ever. Thirty of the top 80 players in the Official World Golf Rankings will play at the 3M Open. A big reason for that is the changing structure of the PGA Tour and the signature events. That makes this tournament key to securing a spot in the playoffs. "These benchmarks have been set. And the players know that," said 3M Open Tournament Director Mike Welch. "If they're anywhere from (number) 37 to 125, they're like, 'I gotta play these events.' And we just happen to be in a great spot in the schedule." That's the kicker. The 3M Open used to be one of the least coveted dates of the pro golf schedule, but not anymore. "We knew that this moment was coming," said Welch. "Where it's like 'Hey, the depth of the field is just gonna be there.' We're still lacking around the top, top-end talent. If you're one to 10 (ranked player), you probably don't need to be here — being after the Open Championship, obviously, that presents some challenges — but if you're not, you're usually coming. So, we knew it was here and now we're reaping the rewards." Like last season, it's been a stormy summer in Minnesota. With a few weeks to go, Superintendent Joe Rolstad hopes it'll stop raining. "We can control. We can put a little water out if we need to. All the ponds are full out here right now," he said. To buy tournament tickets, learn more about the schedule or sign up to volunteer, head to the 3M Open's website.

Rodney Harrison Was A Big Hit In San Diego For The Chargers
Kansas City Chiefs running back Priest Holmes (31) breaks away from San Diego Chargers safety Rodney ... More Harrison (37) during a game in 2001. "Why aren't I playing more?'' Harrison inquired years ago. The scribes weren't sure and they didn't have to ponder the question long. Harrison, a fifth-round pick in 1994 soon shed his status as a special-teams player to become an All-Pro safety in a career which has landed him into the Chargers Hall of Fame. Harrison, who'll be inducted at halftime of Los Angeles' game against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 23. The upbeat Harrison had a sensational run of delivering hard-nosed, in-your-face, football that made him one of the most feared defenders of his generation. His style came with a price as he was fined more than $200,000 for questionable hits, a dose of regular discipline that often came with suspensions. Harrison, though, shrugged while noting that he was doing his part to prove the worth of safeties. Harrison, a long-time member of NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' telecast, has a resume that screams Pro Football Hall of Fame. Over his 15 seasons, with the first nine coming in San Diego and the final six with the New England Patriots where he won two Super Bowls, Harrison was named All-Pro and Pro Bowler twice and became the first player to record 30 interceptions and 30 sacks in a career. (AP Photo/ Gregory Bull) 'What I remember most about Rodney is his incredible toughness,'' former Chargers coach Bobby Ross said in a statement. ''He was a hard-hitting, relentless safety – fearless in every sense of the word.'' Nicknamed 'The Hitman' Harrison always played to the echo of the whistle and then some. He performed with an edge and flair that guaranteed opponents were always aware where No. 47 was on the field. That's why ex-Patriots coach Bill Belichick consistently champions his entry into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Harrison is already a member of the Patriots Hall of Fame. 'I think Rodney Harrison 100 percent (belongs) in that conservation,'' Belichick said of Harrison's bid to enter the game's hallowed gates in Canton, Ohio. 'And I've coached some of the other safeties in the Hall of Fame, and not taking anything away from them, but certainly Rodney Harrison belongs in that conversation.' Former Chargers tight end Antonio Gates will welcome ex-safety Rodney Harrison into the Chargers ... More Hall of Fame during the upcoming season. Among those he'll join is tight end Antonio Gates, who is being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in July.
