Emmerdale star ‘torn' over future of engaged couple as a secret looms large

Emmerdale star ‘torn' over future of engaged couple as a secret looms large

Metro2 days ago
Emmerdale's Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) currently has no idea boyfriend Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is hiding a huge secret from her in Emmerdale.
A few weeks ago, Vinny and friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) spent the day together. Vinny then got caught up in a moment and tried to kiss his friend, a move that left both of them surprised.
In the aftermath, Vinny has tried his best to ignore his confusion and doubt in his mind. Wanting to help, Kammy has attempted to get Vinny to talk about it and his sexuality, but he's continuously shut his friend down.
Vinny ignoring it all in the lead up to the engagement party has left Gabby none the wiser. Given this is a soap though, there will always be the possibility of Gabby discovering how Vinny really feels.
And given Gabby's history when it comes to relationships, it's left star Rosie Bentham feeling sorry for her alter-ego.
'I just think 'Poor Gabby.' It would really, really rock her. I think because she's been through it before she would probably just give up', she told us recently.
'I think she has more of an understanding relationship with Vinny. The one with Nicky was a very vindictive plan. He was never interested in Gabby, really. It was more of a superficial, surface-level romance with Nicky and she got swept away and the engagement happened so quickly.'
'Whereas with this we do see a lot more of their home life. So I think this one would hit even deeper because it is someone that she genuinely has feelings for and has developed a very strong connection with. I obviously don't know where this story is going but I think Gabby could possibly end up being supportive of Vinny. Not in the sense of letting him go off and do whatever he wants.
She added: 'They started out as best mates and they'll always have that underlying love for each other whether it's romantic or not. I think if Vinny is questioning things and really struggling, some communication needs to happen.
'But this stuff with Kammy, I don't know how it would be initially received. I can imagine Gabby feeling really let down and this big wedding and everything she's expecting to happen, moving in together and him being such a father figure to Thomas – if that came crashing down I think she would really struggle.'
Rosie pondered over the upcoming wedding, noting that if Vinny was open with Gabby, their relationship may not completely fall apart. More Trending
'I'm really torn because I think it depends on Vinny and how he goes about it, because Gabby's not horrible. If he was to sit down and have an honest conversation with her, then I don't know. I don't think she could go through with having a ring on her finger for the rest of her life having that doubt because it touches a nerve too deep, considering it's happened before. She's basically following in her mum's footsteps, because I think Bernice married a few gay men.

'With Nicky, he and Caleb had a plan, they had an agenda. Whereas this… It would be nice to see Gabby being there for him as a friend and help him with his confusion, but I reckon for her own sake and her own future she'll probably have to take a big step back. Because at the end of the day she does want a secure family and she does want that picture-perfect home. They can't start a wedding off ready for disaster straight away. So we'll see.'
The star continued: 'You've got to go into a wedding day with full clarity. If Gabby doesn't find out, and finds out after, I think it could be quite disastrous. Vinny could be more open with his friends, he's got a good relationship with Kammy now so Kammy will encourage him to get his head straight.

Martin Kemp makes touching death admission to son Roman after health scares

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Martin Kemp had a touching admission to son Roman after battling major health issues. The Spandau Ballet star had two metal plates put into his head in the 1990s after having two brain tumours. It led the EastEnders icon to take a three-year break from his professional career while he recovered. Martin, who won a plethora of awards for his role as Steve Owen in the BBC soap, said the tumours left him with 'controlled epilepsy'. After the surgery, he struggled with the use of one leg and said he had problems with one of his eyes. He even believes the tumours caused his dyslexia. Martin, 63, has previously confessed he doesn't believe he will live for another decade. It has led to a series of frank discussions with The One Show star Roman. On his You About? podcast with Tom Grennan, Roman said: 'I always say to my dad, 'What do you want to be known as when you die? What's on your grave stone?' And he literally says, 'A good man'. (Image: Dave Benett/WireImage via Getty Images) 'And I'm like, 'What is that?' Because it's not anything to do with success and that's what intrigues me. And I always think about that with people in the limelight.' Roman went on to say his father's desire to be remembered as a 'good man' gives him one big worry in life. He added: 'My worry about it is when I think about it, I go, 'Okay, am I a good person?' 'And then you think if it's how you treated people or if it's who you truly know yourself to be. You can't be nice to everyone.' During a conversation with Roman, Martin said "spent two years" believing he was on the brink of death after being diagnosed with the tumours in his thirties. He now sees each year he's lived "as a bonus". On their FFS! My Dad is Martin Kemp podcast, the Spandau bassist explained he has even considered his own funeral arrangements after the health battle. Martin said he would like to limit the 'private' event to around 20 people - although he previously confessed he believes only six would turn up, including his dog. After Roman pressed him for names, he said: "I wouldn't want to put anyone under pressure to come to the funeral, you know." (Image: Channel 4) Martin went on to recall similar sentiments when he once hosted a joint birthday party with his brother Gary Kemp, adding: "I hated it because I was putting people under pressure to come out for me, and I didn't like it at all." Further grilled by his son about the numbers, Martin continued: "I don't mind if it's 20 people or whether it's six, I'll be quite happy if it's six people, I don't mind. "I want a private funeral, I don't want people coming just to have a look or just to say, 'I was at Martin Kemp's funeral'. I don't want that at all, I would rather have six people that are there to say goodbye to me, because that's who I am."
