Jax Taylor admits 'stuborness' undermined his marriage
The 45-year-old reality TV star has confessed that he "never wanted to take any accountability" for his actions because he was older than Brittany, 36.
Speaking on In the Mind of Jax Taylor, he shared: "I didn't seek help when I should have, when she told me to. I didn't wanna hear it.
"And men, I believe ... are very stubborn. And I'm a very stubborn human being — I'm not wrong, she's wrong, you know?
"I never wanted to take any accountability for my actions because like I said, I'm older. I know more than you. You don't know anything.
"I had that mentality because she was a lot younger than me."
Jax admits that he struggled to be open and honest with his wife.
The reality star - who has Cruz, four, with Brittany - is now convinced that his attitude influenced their marriage troubles.
He said: "I was afraid to talk to Brittany about a lot of things, not only because of her reactions, but as a man, I felt very vulnerable and weak.
"I just don't like to ask for help."
Jax and Brittany would often have explosive arguments, and they never fixed the underlying problems in their relationship.
Jax said: "Brittany and I would have these blow-ups, huge blow-ups that would last a few days. And then forty-five minutes later, 'Should we go get some food? What do you wanna do?' Like, we don't really fix the problem."
Meanwhile, Jax previously admitted that he's been battling a cocaine addiction for more than 20 years.
The TV star - who split from Britanny in 2024 - said on the Hot Mic podcast: "I have substance issues - primarily with cocaine. It's hard to say out loud. I've been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I'm 45.
"There was times where I would stop doing it but then there were times where I'd go heavy on it.
"I just want to let people know this is a really, really tough disease and it's a really tough sickness."

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright still sleep in the same house
Jax Taylor still sleeps at Brittany Cartwright's house. The celebrity duo announced their separation in 2024, but Jax still sleeps under the same roof as his estranged wife when he's looking after their son. Jax - who has Cruz, four, with Brittany - told The Valley After Show: "A lot of times I like to go stay at the house - our house. That way it doesn't uproot him. That way he has his pool. He has his house. His room. I'll just stay at the house. She's comfortable with me doing that." Brittany, 36, has assumed responsibility for the mortgage on the $2 million property in the San Fernando Valley. However, Jax suggested that their co-parenting relationship is improving all the time. Jax - who married Brittany in 2019 - feels their current arrangements can still be improved. He explained: "Every Wednesday. Every other weekend. That's the goal. "But right now it's like, 'Can you grab him? Can you take him for a couple nights? I need to go to New York.' Because we travel a lot. That's how it is right now." Jax Taylor 'devastated' by divorce from Brittany Cartwright
Jax Taylor found being served divorce papers to be "devastating". The 45-year-old TV star emerged from a stint in rehab to find that Brittany Cartwright was planning to divorce him, and Jax has now admitted to feeling overwhelmed by the situation. Jax - who has Cruz, four, with Brittany - said on The Valley: "Imagine coming out of a facility, dealing with your mental health issues and then being slammed with divorce papers. And then, on top of it, it going public before you've even had the time to digest it. It's hard. "Getting those divorce papers, it's devastating. "We're both so hurt. We both hurt each other so much in the last couple of years. We don't have anything left." Jax felt "safe" during his stint in rehab, but reality hit him when he returned home. The TV star - who married Brittany back in 2019 - said: "You walk out the doors, and it's like, life just hits you. "Now, okay, I got to remember everything that I've learned, I got to move into this new place, I got to see my son, I got to face everybody. It's a lot to take in at once. I just don't want to go back into my old ways, because it's very easy to slip." Meanwhile, Jax previously admitted that he's been battling a cocaine addiction for more than 20 years. He said on the Hot Mic podcast: "I have substance issues - primarily with cocaine. It's hard to say out loud. I've been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I'm 45. "There was times where I would stop doing it but then there were times where I'd go heavy on it. "I just want to let people know this is a really, really tough disease and it's a really tough sickness." Brittany subsequently claimed that she spent years trying to help Jax to "get better". She said on When Reality Hits: "No one wants Jax to be better more than I do, let's be real. "I tried and tried and tried for years to help this man get better and for us to be a happy family, I was deeply and madly in love with him, there's no one that can ever deny that."
