Tesla Diner, Drive-in, Supercharging Station Opening: Photos
Tesla has been working on a diner-supercharger-drive-in concept in Los Angeles for years — the building broke ground in 2023 — and it looks like the project has finally entered soft-opening mode.
CEO Elon Musk (and some other Tesla enthusiasts) have already tried the food. Musk called it "one of the coolest spots in L.A."
I just had dinner at the retro-futuristic @Tesla diner and Supercharger.
Team did great work making it one of the coolest spots in LA! https://t.co/wRuyeh9x00 — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 14, 2025
The supercharger station triples as a 1950s-styled diner and drive-in movie theater, complete with burgers and shakes, but modernized with two 45-foot LED movie screens.
InsideEVs reports that there are about 75 V4 Supercharger stalls, and a security guard told the outlet it is expected to be open in a few weeks.
First look at Tesla's completed Hollywood diner and Supercharger! It looks sick! Really dope futuristic/retro vibe.
Tesla has completely taken down the fencing surrounding the whole place, so these photos were able to be taken from the public sidewalk/street.

The station, located at 7001 West Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Trump Moves to Kill California's Dreams of High-Speed Rail
President Donald Trump's feud with California Governor Gavin Newsom is hitting the Golden State's long-awaited high-speed train project with yet another setback. The U.S. The Transportation Department announced Wednesday that it is rescinding $4 billion in funding for a bullet train project that aims to connect Los Angeles with San Francisco. 'Governor Newsom and the complicit Democrats have enabled this waste for years,' said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy — a former cast member of MTV's The Real World: Boston and ex–Fox Business co-host — in a press release. 'Federal dollars are not a blank check; they come with a promise to deliver results.' The California High-Speed Rail project, approved by voters in 2008, was pitched as an 800-mile rail system linking Northern and Southern California, with trains traveling at speeds up to 220 miles per hour. A planned second phase would extend the line further, reaching Sacramento in the north and San Diego in the south. The project was initially projected to cost $33 billion and be completed by 2020. But after years of delays and escalating construction costs, the estimated price tag has now surged past $100 billion. Governor Newsom and other California officials are not happy with the news and have signaled that they could take legal action. 'Trump wants to hand China the future and abandon the Central Valley. We won't let him. With projects like the Texas high-speed rail failing to take off, we are miles ahead of others,' Newsom said in a statement. 'We're now in the track-laying phase and building America's only high-speed rail. California is putting all options on the table to fight this illegal action.' California High-Speed Rail Authority CEO Ian Choudri, who is spearheading the project, also called the move 'illegal,' stating that the grants are legally binding and the Authority has met all its obligations. For his part, Trump posted on social media that he has 'freed' the citizens of America from 'California's disastrously overpriced, 'HIGH SPEED TRAIN TO NOWHERE.' 'The Railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. 'This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED.' This marks the latest clash between the Trump administration and Governor Gavin Newsom, who have sparred over everything from the state's transgender rights laws to the deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles. Newsom also fired back at Duffy after the Transportation Secretary posted a video on X criticizing the high-speed rail project. 'Won't be taking advice from the guy who can't keep planes in the sky,' Newsom wrote in response.

Robinhood Is Using AI to Generate Half of All New Code
Robinhood co-founder and CEO, Vlad Tenev, says almost all engineers at the company have adopted AI coding tools. Engineers at the stock trading and investing app Robinhood are using AI to generate new code instead of writing it themselves. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said on the 20VC podcast earlier this week that "close to 100%" of software engineers at the company are using AI to write blocks of code, tapping into tools like Cursor and Windsurf, which advertise advanced coding, debugging, and editing capabilities. According to Tenev, over 50% of new code at Robinhood is AI-generated, the same percentage as Salesforce. Related: Robinhood Is Offering a Credit Card for the First Time — and It's Available in 10-Karat Gold Tenev said that it was difficult to differentiate between AI-written code and human-created code, estimating that only a "minority" of new code at Robinhood was now written by humans. "It's hard to even determine what the human-generated code is," Tenev said on the podcast. "If I had to guess, it's in the minority." Meanwhile, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella have individually stated that AI writes 30% of the code at their respective companies, putting Robinhood's AI coding adoption ahead of those big tech companies. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev. Photo byfor Breakthrough Prize Tenev also said on the podcast that AI has had a "huge" impact on Robinhood internally, affecting teams like customer support. For example, Robinhood built its own version of ChatGPT for customer service. "The impact that it's had on internal teams, ranging from software engineering to customer support, the really big internal teams, has been huge," Tenev said on the podcast.
