Paramilitary shelling of the besieged Darfur city of El-Fasher in western Sudan killed 13 people, including 3 children, on Friday, a medical source told AFP on condition of anonymity for their safety.
"Another 21 people were injured due to the artillery shelling from the Rapid Support militia," the source said, referring to the Rapid Support Forces, at war with the regular army since April 2023.

UN warns of 'disastrous consequences' of escalating Sudan fighting
The United Nations' rights chief Volker Turk said on Friday that escalating fighting in Sudan's west and centre risks aggravating harm to civilians and abuses, more than two years into the country's war. Gaza rescuers say 18 killed by Israeli fire
Gaza's civil defense agency said that Israeli forces on Thursday killed at least 18 people, including 15 who had gathered near an aid distribution site in central Gaza. Civil defense official Mohammad al-Mughayyir told AFP that "18 people have been killed due to ongoing Israeli shelling on the Gaza Strip since dawn today, 15 of whom were waiting for aid", adding that the remaining three were killed by shelling near Gaza City.
