Alabama Gets Huge News on No. 1 Recruit in Minnesota

Yahoo13-05-2025

Minnesota's No. 1 ranked four-star recruit Roman Voss is one of the most prolific athletes in the entire 2026 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 8 athlete in the country.
He plays quarterback and defensive back in high school, and could play almost any position that is needed with the help of his 6-foot-4 210 pound stature. He also saw play as a tight end and linebacker.

Voss has announced his final two schools that he could commit to, deciding between the Minnesota Golden Golden Gophers and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He will decide between staying in his home state with Minnesota or going to one of the most historic college football programs in Alabama.

Not often have Minnesota and Alabama been the final two to battle it out for a highly ranked recruit, but the potential of staying in his home state is certainly a big draw.
After Alabama held a visit for Voss in March, they immediately shot up on his list, and now rests in the final two where they will await his decision.

If the Crimson Tide are to land the top ranked recruit in Minnesota, he would join an already exceptional class with highly ranked defensive stars coming in, and could slot in anywhere that head coach Kalen DeBoer would need him.
Minnesota on the other hand would benefit significantly from Voss staying in his home state, as he would be the Golden Gophers' top recruit by a long shot. The current No. 164 ranked high schooler would beat out the next highest by 82.
Time will tell where he chooses to commit, but has a big decision to make on where to begin the next stages of his hopefully successful career.

Alabama lands commitment from local standout, 2026 in-state linebacker

On Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from a local product, as in-state standout Zay Hall announced that he had committed to the program. Hall is the sixth different player to commit to Alabama so far this week, as well as the third within the past two days alongside the four-star duo of Ezavier Crowell and Mack Sutter. At the moment, Hall is currently considered as the nation's No. 1,148 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Longhorns have No. 1 offense, No. 2 defense & No. 2 overall in new EA College Football 26

In less than two weeks EA College Football 26 will be released. At launch, the Texas Longhorns will be ranked high on both sides of the ball and overall. UT will have the No. 1 ranked offenses and No. 2 defense in the game. The Horns are ranked No. 2 overall behind the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Texas offense has a rating of 91, which is tied with Penn State, Ohio State and Arizona State. But the Longhorns have a slight edge and claim the No. 1 ranking. There are nine SEC teams in the top 25 offense in the video game. Advertisement The Texas offense will feature Arch Manning at quarterback, Quintrevion Wisner and CJ Baxter at running back and Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore at wide receiver. On defense, UT is ranked second behind Alabama. Texas has a defensive rating of 94, behind 'Bama's 96. Penn State, Georgia and Ohio State fill out the top five. There are ten SEC teams in the top 25 defenses in the game. The Horns defense will feature Anthony Hill, Colin Simmons and Michael Taaffe leading the charge. EA has ranked Alabama the overall No. 1 team despite having the seventh ranked offense to go with the Tide's No. 1 defense. The SEC has 12 teams in the overall Top 25, almost half of the ranking. Texas is heavily featured in the game's trailer. The video showcases Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterback Arch Manning. The video also shows off the Longhorns running onto the field at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium and the drone show Texas produces for night games. The game also shows off a couple of Longhorns plays. This year, schools are getting paid differently than in the past. The University of Texas will be paid based on how many users play EA College Football 26 using the Longhorns. The "play-for-pay" model is a change on the way the video company pays for Name Image Likeness (NIL) rights to participating schools. So the more you play using Texas as your team, the more money the program gets. Advertisement The game is set for a worldwide release on July 10. Follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @LonghornsWire.
