TikTok star's body found dismembered in bags at water treatment plant
The body of a teenage TikTok star was found cut up into pieces and put in bags at a water treatment plant.
Staff discovered Fabiola Alejandra Caicedo Piña's remains and identified them thanks to her distinctive tattoos.
She had been missing since June 7, posting her final video on the platform where she was known as 'China Baby' on June 5.
Fabiola often posted videos of herself posing and dancing before the 19-year-old went missing.
Fabiola's remains were found in the El Agustino district of Lima, Peru, on June 9. Police say she may have been strangled before being dismembered.
Police are investigating to see if the crime was committed by the family or the close circle of her ex-boyfriend, who died in 2022 in unclear circumstances.
Fabiola – originally from Barquisimeto, Venezuela – left her country in 2022, when she was 16.
Her then-boyfriend accompanied her, Mayner Yoffrey Giménez Castrillo, was 21 years older than her.
Their journey, according to Fabiola's family, was voluntary but illegal.
Once in Lima, they lived together in a rental flat in the Huaycán district, where, months later, Mayner was found dead.
His death was ruled a suicide, but his family never believed this version.
They accused Fabiola and an alleged lover of Mayner's death, but Fabiola was never the centre of any investigation.
Some reports say the area where she worked in Peru was controlled by Venezuelan mafiosi, who had threatened to make her 'pay' for Mayner's death.
Police believe that on the night before her death, she was lured away from a party under false pretences. More Trending
Some reports say she was tortured – with cigarette burns on her legs and feet – before being killed.
Her remains were allegedly dumped into the Rímac River and ended up at the water treatment plant.
Detectives are still reviewing CCTV footage and gathering statements from those who knew Fabiola.
There have been no arrests yet, but local media say key breakthroughs are expected in the coming days.

Labelling someone a 'Karen' is 'borderline racist, sexist and ageist', an employment tribunal has ruled. Charity worker Sylvia Constance claimed she had been unfairly dismissed and subject to racial and ageist discrimination by her employer Harpenden Mencap, an organisation which supports adults with learning disabilities. In a complaint about her client's treatment she wrote: 'The Respondents have acted like the stereotypical 'Karen' having weaponised their privilege and more powerful position against the Complainant, making up and suspending the Complainant for numerous fictitious infringements, and deflecting from their personal misconduct.' She continued: 'As egregiously, they encouraged residents under their care to do same. 'There is also something very sordid about the way in which white, female management have facilitated racism by colluding with white, male residents to give a misogynistic, racist view of the black complainant.' Employment judge George Alliott described Ms Yates' language in the communication as 'trenchant'. Fake dentist treats dozens of patients using instructions he found online
The 22-year-old man and two of his relatives, a 50-year-old woman and 44-year-old male, opened up a dental clinic in Havickluv Brod where they treated dozens of patients and earned £137,000 A fake dentist has been arrested after treating dozens of patients by following online tutorials. The 22-year-old man and two of his relative assistants had been working at an unlicensed surgery in Havickluv Brod, Czech Republic for two years, treating patients without having an ounce of"necessary professional knowledge". He performed tooth extractions, complex root canals and even applied anaesthesia - which can kill in rare cases - after reading about the procedures online. According to police, they each pleaded guilty and could be jailed for up to eight years. It's currently unknown whether the police investigation was sparked by patient complaints. His two accomplices, a 50-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, each had a different role in the organisation. The woman worked as a nurse while the man created prosthetic devices for the patients. Dozens of patients handed over money to bootleg surgery, making four million Czech koruna (£137,827) over the course of 28 months. In a statement, Czech police said: "The woman, who worked in the health sector, provided anaesthetics but also other dental material to which she had access, such as fillings, cleaning powder, glue, impression material and much more. "A 22-year-old man posed as a dentist, although he lacked the necessary professional knowledge." Michaela Lebrova, police spokeswoman, was unwilling to share whether it was patients that alerted cops to the practices. All three pleaded guilty this week to operating an illegal business, money laundering, attempted assault, drug dealing and theft. Roman Šmucler - the president of Czech dental chamber - said he receives reports of 10 fraudsters acting as dentists each year. The president of Czech dental chamber,, said that he had an average of 10 fake dentist cases reported a year in the country. "I have two more submissions today, so today there are three cases in the Czech Republic," Šmucler told Czech media outlet Radiožurnál. A fake TikTok dentist has allegedly left people with severe gum and teeth issues due to her scam veneer business which saw her arrested. Monica Davis, from Illinois, registered the business The Veneer Experts in July 2023, which is now under investigation by police. Davis also offered braces, which left Monica Bailey and her 15-year-old daughter terrified of the dentist. Davis marketed her sham on TikTok as 'changing lives one smile at a time.' The Veneer Experts had also been operating at a Las Vegas strip mall, where Davis was found to be illegally practicing dentistry without a license. Court documents show Davis was released from police custody in Nevada on January 31, and nine days later gave Bailey her braces. Bailey said: "It's hard. It is. I'm just hoping that we can have a positive outcome." Bailey added that Davis "cleaned my teeth and started, you know, putting the glue on and putting the brackets on for the braces and I thought what she was doing was how it's supposed to be done.'
