Congress leaders slam BJP, JDS for targeting Karnataka CM, wife

BENGALURU: After the Supreme Court upheld the Karnataka High Court decision quashing an ED notice against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi in the MUDA site allotment case, Congress leaders slammed the BJP and demanded the resignation of Leader of Opposition R Ashoka and BJP State President BY Vijayendra.
The CM's legal adviser and Congress MLA Ponnanna said the SC quashed the notice issued to Parvathi Siddaramaiah and minister Byrathi Suresh, as the case does not come under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. 'We have belief in the judicial system.
The SC has said not to politicise this. It is applicable to the entire country. They should stop talking if they have any conscience left,'' he said. Ponnanna asked whether Byrathi Suresh was minister when MUDA sites were allotted to Parvathi. 'BJP dragged Parvathi's personal issue into their politics, which is not correct,'' he said.
Suresh said that right from the beginning, he had been saying that he, the CM and his wife had no role in in MUDA case.
The Supreme Court decision should be a lesson to BJP and JDS leaders for making false allegations. 'Instead, why cannot they go to the people and listen to their woes. The court has warned, now BJP and JDS leaders should be more careful,'' he said, and demanded the resignation of Ashoka and Vijayendra.
AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said BJP manufactured false allegations against CM Siddaramaiah. RDPR and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge pointed out that the Supreme Court not only rejected the ED's plea in the MUDA case, but also slammed the central agency for being the puppet of the BJP and pursuing political vendetta. The ED-BJP nexus and conspiracy stands exposed and shattered. If Ashoka and Vijayendra have even an ounce of shame left, they should resign immediately, he demanded.

BJP MP claims KTR was open to political alliance, but on one condition

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP CM Ramesh kicked off a fierce political storm in Telangana, claiming that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President Kalvakuntla Tarka Rama Rao (KTR) had offered an alliance or merger with the party on one condition. BRS Working President and MLA K T Rama Rao reiterated that the BRS will never merge with any other party. (PTI File) According to Ramesh, KTR had laid out his condition as dropping the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probes against his sister K Kavitha. "Did Kalvakuntla Tarka Rama Rao forget that he came to my house in Delhi? It's recorded in CCTV - and I can share it with the media... Didn't he ask for ED, CBI probes to be stopped against Kavitha and others and asked to talk to HM (Home Minister)? Didn't he say that if the investigation is stopped, BRS would merge with BJP?" CM Ramesh asked. The latest claim comes amid a heated exchange of salvos among the BJP and the BRS leaders. KTR had denied ever suggesting any merger with the BJP. KTR denies proposing a merger of BRS with the BJP BRS working president KTR has vehemently denied the allegations that he proposed a merger between his party and the BJP. KTR reiterated that the BRS will never merge with any other party. He said that the BRS was born for Telangana and remains committed to the state's welfare. The BRS leader alleged a secret understanding and collusion between Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy and BJP MP CM Ramesh, in large government contracts awarded to Andhra Pradesh contractors in Telangana. 'To divert attention from these scams, they are bringing up the useless and useless issue of merging with the BJP again. The party born for the people of Telangana.. The party that fights for the people of Telangana is not now.. The people of Telangana know that there is no question of merging with any party ever. Every time they are in trouble, both Congress and BJP are trying to confuse the people of Telangana by bringing up this useless issue,' KTR wrote in a post on X. KTR also challenged Revanth Reddy and Ramesh to take him on in a public debate on these alleged scams.

26.34 lakh ‘ineligible' beneficiaries will be temporarily suspended under Ladki Bahin scheme

The Maharashtra government has revealed that 26.34 lakh beneficiaries, who are ineligible under the Ladki Bahin Scheme, have been temporarily suspended for the June instalment. 'The benefits for 26.34 lakh applicants have been temporarily suspended starting from June 2025. The instalments for the month have been disbursed to 2.25 crore eligible beneficiaries,' said Minister for Women and Child Development Aditi Tatkare, adding the suspended beneficiaries' eligibility will be verified by the respective District Collectors. The Department of Women and Child Development had sought information from all government departments to verify the eligibility of all applications. 'The Information and Technology Department reported that approximately 26.34 lakh beneficiaries, despite being ineligible, became beneficiaries of the scheme,' said Aditi Tatkare, Minister for Women and Child Development, on X. The Ladki Bahin scheme was launched in August 2024 ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly election held in November 2024. The scheme was considered one of the reasons for the BJP-led Mahayuti victory in the election. However, after the elections, the government started the scrutiny of the beneficiaries availing the scheme. Since then, the government has regularly suspended ineligible beneficiaries. State government will resume the scheme benefits for those found eligible after the verification, while action will be taken against fraudulent beneficiaries who have 'misled the government' and availed benefits through 'improper means'. Ms. Tatkare pointed out that all the ineligible beneficiaries were availing benefits of multiple schemes, some families had more than two beneficiaries, or men applied for the scheme. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday expressed that stern action will be taken against men who took advantage of the scheme, saying the Ladki Bahin scheme is for poor women, and it makes no sense for men to be the beneficiaries. So, money will be recovered. Action will be taken on the non-cooperation. He was responding to reports of 14,000 men being the beneficiaries of the scheme.

BJP urges K'taka govt to act against firms selling fake seeds, fertilisers

Accusing the ruling Congress of 'failing' Karnataka, state BJP President B Y Vijayendra on Sunday urged the Siddaramaiah-led government to file a criminal case and take strict action against companies that are supplying fake seeds and fertilisers to farmers. He said a police vigilance team should be formed to take strict action against the networks that cheat farmers. The BJP chief was responding to reports about fake seeds and fertilisers being supplied to farmers in some parts of the state. "The efforts to trouble the food-providing farmers and exploit them within the system have been ongoing for a long time. Companies supplying fertilizers and seeds are engaging in the despicable act of sabotaging agricultural activities by providing fake seeds to the enthusiastic farming community that are expecting a good harvest in the backdrop of a promising monsoon this time," Vijayendra said. "I urge the government to file a criminal case against such companies in this regard and take strict action, and also to take all necessary measures to ensure that the farming community gets quality seeds and necessary fertilizers in a timely manner," he said in a post on 'X'. Stating that it should be the government's top priority to ensure that the farming community, which is the largest human resource of the country and who live by trusting nature, does not face any problems, Vijayendra said, in this context, Prime Minister Narendra Modi- led central government, along with agricultural incentive schemes, has taken precautionary measures to protect farmers. "The state government too needs to take committed steps in this regard, so that the lives of farmers are not affected," he said. To strengthen the Agriculture Department and to take strict action against the networks that cheat farmers, a police vigilance team should be formed, the BJP leader said, adding hashtag "CongressFailsKarnataka". "This time, mother nature has embraced the farmers through a good monsoon, I urge the government to take all possible precautionary measures to thwart any fraudulent attempts that may disrupt the farmers from enjoying its benefits." Targeting the Congress government citing media reports about farmers protest in some parts, against urea shortage, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R Ashoka said, the Congress government should have been alert and paid attention towards ensuring storage of necessary amount of fertilizer and its timely distribution, when the monsoon arrived a month in advance this time. Instead, those in the government completely neglected the farmers in the heat of factional fights for power or chair, Ashoka said in a post on 'X'. "The curse of the farms will affect this Congress government," he added.
