The development in the high court took place after both petitions were clubbed and listed for hearing following the transfer of Khan's appeal to the high court from the district and sessions court.
"Salman Khan's lawyers had earlier filed a transfer petition in the high court against his sentence from the district and session court, so that the appeal filed against him could be clubbed with the appeal filed by the state government," said prosecution's counsel Mahipal Bishnoi.
Live Events
The transfer was delayed due to some technical reasons and hence the hearing in both the appeals had been stalled since long, he added.
In 1998, during the shooting of the film "Hum Saath Saath Hain", Khan was accused of hunting two blackbucks in Kankani village of Jodhpur district.
While Khan, the main accused, was sentenced by the chief judicial magistrate's court (Jodhpur district), Saif Ali Khan, Bendre, Tabu, Neelam, and Singh were acquitted.
Khan filed a criminal appeal against his conviction whereas the state government filed a leave to appeal against the acquittal of the co-accused persons. PTI

RTO detects misuse of eKYC-based faceless system, 3 learner licences cancelled
1 2 Nagpur: The Regional Transport Office (Nagpur City) cancelled the learner licences of three individuals after detecting misuse of the eKYC-based faceless system. The action followed an internal probe which revealed that the candidates shared their Aadhaar-linked OTPs with third parties, who then took the online test on their behalf. Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Dhwaj Dakhne lodged a complaint with Sitabuldi Police Station on July 10, 2025, seeking an investigation into the matter. According to RTO officials, the faceless system was designed to eliminate human intervention by using biometric verification and OTP-based authentication, but this case exposed vulnerabilities in its implementation. According to the RTO's findings, three candidates allegedly shared their eKYC-generated OTPs with third-party representatives, who then appeared for the learner licence test on their behalf. The RTO submitted that all relevant evidence, including audio recordings, will be provided to the police. Personal notices are expected to be issued to the candidates to seek their explanation before further departmental action. A senior official from Sitabuldi Police Station confirmed receipt of the complaint and said coordination is ongoing with the RTO. "We have asked the RTO to verify the case at their level and identify the three individuals who indulged in malpractice. Once we receive proper documentation and evidence to the matter, legal action will follow," the official said. "This incident is a serious breach of the faceless service system, which was introduced to simplify the licensing process. Sharing OTPs to let someone else take the test is a clear violation of the law and undermines the system's credibility," said Kiran Bidkar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur (City). Bidkar added that the licences have already been cancelled and a formal police complaint has been lodged. "Citizens are strictly advised not to misuse the faceless system. If any such fraud is found, we will take stringent action in the interest of road safety and system integrity," he said.

Doctor in trafficking net insisted couple opt for surrogacy despite being fit to conceive
Hyderabad: Citing her 25 years of experience, Dr A Namratha of Srushti Test Tube Baby Centre — arrested by Hyderabad police along with seven others in the alleged baby-selling racket — insisted that the complainant couple opt for surrogacy. This, despite the couple's medical tests confirming them fit to conceive. The tests were worth Rs 66,000. These revelations have come to light in the remand report filed by Gopalapuram police recently. The report also stated that the doctor used to store all surrogacy-related documentation in a separate consultancy room to keep it out of the reach of the staff and ensure that none of the records were handed over to patients. The remand report stated that the complainant couple was told by Dr Namratha in September last year that a healthy embryo was successfully implanted in the surrogate and confirmation of pregnancy was awaited. "Believing this the couple made further payments…...Dr Namratha later confirmed the pregnancy (to the complainants) over a phone call and periodically shared some medical reports, but withheld originals and did not allow complainant to retain even digital copies, often forcing them to leave their phones outside her office," the report added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Shop Sale Libas Undo You Can Also Check: Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad Dr Namratha promised the complainants that a healthy child would be delivered to them after DNA confirmation and for that, their own sperm and eggs would be used to develop embryos. However, she handed them a two-day-old boy born to an Assamese couple, under the pretext that the child was biologically theirs. According to the remand report, when the complainants confronted Dr Namratha about it, she "verbally accepted her mistake" and sought time to resolve it. "But the couple could not reach her after that despite trying multiple times," the report added. Cops have also found that another accused, Dr N Sadanandam of Gandhi Hospital, used to supply anaesthesia to Dr Namratha despite knowing that the centre was running without registration. The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has served a show cause notice to both the jailed doctors. While eight accused have been arrested in the case, three others - Kalpana, Sanjay and Nandini - are absconding. MSID:: 123044508 413 |

Who is Michael Brown? 45-year-old suspect in Montana bar shooting; manhunt launched for armed local resident
45-year-old suspect Michael Paul Brown (Image credits: X) Four people were killed Friday morning when a gunman opened fire at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, before fleeing the scene and prompting a massive manhunt and town-wide lockdown by afternoon. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed the shooting occurred around 10.30 am. All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities swiftly launched a search operation, concentrating efforts in the nearby Stump Town area west of Anaconda, reported AP. More than a dozen local and state law enforcement officers, supported by helicopters, drones, and K9 units, joined the manhunt. The suspect, identified as Michael Paul Brown, lived next door to the bar and his home was cleared by a Swat team shortly after the incident. Who is Michael Brown ? 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown, also known as "Mike," is a resident of Anaconda. He was reportedly last seen wearing a tie-dyed shirt, blue jeans, and an orange bandana. Authorities say Brown is believed to be armed with a .762-caliber assault rifle and was last seen driving a 2007 white Ford F-150 pickup truck with Montana license plate DTY493. He was seen heading to the Stump Town area, which is just west of Anaconda. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If you have a mouse, play this game for 1 minute Navy Quest Undo Brown is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Officials are urging the public not to approach him and to report any sightings to 911 immediately. The owner of the Firefly Café in Anaconda said she closed her shop around 11 am Friday after a friend informed her about the shooting. Two hours later, she was still waiting for the official all-clear to reopen. 'It's a small town, so we all probably know someone who was there' at the shooting, she said as quoted by AP. Anaconda, a historic mining town with a population of about 9,000, is located roughly 75 miles southeast of Missoula. Surrounded by mountains and steeped in copper mining history, the town was founded in the late 1800s and is known for the massive, now-defunct smelter that still towers over the landscape.
