Black buck poaching case: Rajasthan HC to hear actor Salman Khan's appeal on September 22
Rajasthan High Court
on Monday fixed September 22 to hear actor Salman Khan's appeal against his conviction in a black buck poaching case.
Justice Manoj Kumar Garg would hear Khan's appeal along with the state government's leave to appeal against the acquittal of the co-accused, including Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and a local Dushyant Singh.

The development in the high court took place after both petitions were clubbed and listed for hearing following the transfer of Khan's appeal to the high court from the district and sessions court.
"Salman Khan's lawyers had earlier filed a transfer petition in the high court against his sentence from the district and session court, so that the appeal filed against him could be clubbed with the appeal filed by the state government," said prosecution's counsel Mahipal Bishnoi.

The transfer was delayed due to some technical reasons and hence the hearing in both the appeals had been stalled since long, he added.
In 1998, during the shooting of the film "Hum Saath Saath Hain", Khan was accused of hunting two blackbucks in Kankani village of Jodhpur district.
While Khan, the main accused, was sentenced by the chief judicial magistrate's court (Jodhpur district), Saif Ali Khan, Bendre, Tabu, Neelam, and Singh were acquitted.
Khan filed a criminal appeal against his conviction whereas the state government filed a leave to appeal against the acquittal of the co-accused persons. PTI

1 2 Nagpur: The Regional Transport Office (Nagpur City) cancelled the learner licences of three individuals after detecting misuse of the eKYC-based faceless system. The action followed an internal probe which revealed that the candidates shared their Aadhaar-linked OTPs with third parties, who then took the online test on their behalf. Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Dhwaj Dakhne lodged a complaint with Sitabuldi Police Station on July 10, 2025, seeking an investigation into the matter. According to RTO officials, the faceless system was designed to eliminate human intervention by using biometric verification and OTP-based authentication, but this case exposed vulnerabilities in its implementation. According to the RTO's findings, three candidates allegedly shared their eKYC-generated OTPs with third-party representatives, who then appeared for the learner licence test on their behalf. The RTO submitted that all relevant evidence, including audio recordings, will be provided to the police. Personal notices are expected to be issued to the candidates to seek their explanation before further departmental action. A senior official from Sitabuldi Police Station confirmed receipt of the complaint and said coordination is ongoing with the RTO. "We have asked the RTO to verify the case at their level and identify the three individuals who indulged in malpractice. Once we receive proper documentation and evidence to the matter, legal action will follow," the official said. "This incident is a serious breach of the faceless service system, which was introduced to simplify the licensing process. Sharing OTPs to let someone else take the test is a clear violation of the law and undermines the system's credibility," said Kiran Bidkar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur (City). Bidkar added that the licences have already been cancelled and a formal police complaint has been lodged. "Citizens are strictly advised not to misuse the faceless system. If any such fraud is found, we will take stringent action in the interest of road safety and system integrity," he said.

Hyderabad: Citing her 25 years of experience, Dr A Namratha of Srushti Test Tube Baby Centre — arrested by Hyderabad police along with seven others in the alleged baby-selling racket — insisted that the complainant couple opt for surrogacy. This, despite the couple's medical tests confirming them fit to conceive. The tests were worth Rs 66,000. These revelations have come to light in the remand report filed by Gopalapuram police recently. The report also stated that the doctor used to store all surrogacy-related documentation in a separate consultancy room to keep it out of the reach of the staff and ensure that none of the records were handed over to patients. The remand report stated that the complainant couple was told by Dr Namratha in September last year that a healthy embryo was successfully implanted in the surrogate and confirmation of pregnancy was awaited. "But the couple could not reach her after that despite trying multiple times," the report added.
