, was celebrated with spiritual devotion and cultural grandeur in various parts of the city on Monday. The central event took place at Gorkha Chowk, Nepal House premises in Doranda, where a large number of devotees gathered under the aegis of the Chotanagpur Buddhist Society to take part in the religious ceremonies.The event began early in the morning with special prayers and rituals performed by a Lama who arrived from Darjeeling in Bengal for the occasion.

A large congregation of women devotees took part in the prayers. In a traditional ceremony, the 'Lungdar Flag' was hoisted at Hospital Line in Siddharth Nagar, followed by the worship of Lord Buddha.Lohardaga MLA Rameshwar Oraon, who attended the event, said, "The life and principles of Lord Buddha continue to guide humanity towards compassion, peace, and social equality." He also urged citizens to adopt the Panchsheel principles to create a society which would live in harmony.A grand celebration was also held at the Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) Forest Campus, organised by the JAP-1 Vahini Gumba Committee. A ceremonial Prabhat Pheri was conducted, which was marked by traditional rituals, saw vibrant participation from local women and devotees, who chanted prayers and celebrated the occasion . Special prayers continued here for three consecutive days, followed by various cultural programmes to mark the auspicious occasion.The Shri Krishna Pranami Seva Dham Trust also marked the occasion of Buddha Purnima at Shri Radha Krishna Temple in Pundag with special puja-archana, bhajan-kirtan, and Maha Aarti.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan commences at Waltair Division

The Waltair Railway Division will be observing 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' from August 1-15, 2025. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra led a Prabhat Pheri with the participation of officers, staff, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, and Swachh Sewaks at the railway station here on Friday (August 1, 2025). Mr. Lalit Bohra emphasised that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims to eliminate single-use plastic, ensure effective waste disposal, and create public awareness and participation towards a cleaner environment. The DRM administered the Swachhta Pledge to officers, staff, and the public, who pledged to uphold cleanliness and participate in these activities under the Swachh Bharat Mission. ADRM (Operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Infrastructure) E. Santharam, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer and Head of Environment-cum-Housekeeping Management Praveen Bhati, and other branch officers participated. Swachhta Pledge was also taken at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Koraput, Jagdalpur, Kirandul, Araku, Simhachalam, Duvvada, Electric Loco Shed, Diesel Loco Shed, Coach Care Centre, and other units across the division. The Environment-cum-Housekeeping Management wing will conduct intensive cleanliness drives throughout the division during this period.

The early morning commenced with Vedic scholars performing abhishekam for Goddess Mahankali, followed by the offering of Maha Naivedyam and Maha Aarti. Following these rituals, women devotees engaged in Sahasranamarachana and Laksha Kumkumarchana in honour of Goddess Lalitha Devi, continuing the festive spirit. At the Uppuguda Mahankali temple, DCP Sneha Mehra of the Dakshina Mandal participated in the special pujas. She was warmly welcomed by Temple President Janagama Madhusudhan Goud, who facilitated her darshan of the Goddess.

VVIT University celebrates Jagannath Rath Yatra

Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology (VVIT) University celebrated the Jagannath Rath Yatra with grandeur and spiritual fervour, drawing hundreds of devotees, students, and faculty to a vibrant procession, on Tuesday. The yatra began at the Sri Bhramaramba Malleswara Swamy temple in Pedakakani and concluded at VVIT University's campus in Namburu. VVIT chairman Vasireddy Vidyasagar flagged off the procession, which resonated with the chants of 'Jaya Jayahe Jai Jagannath' as devotees, students, and members of ISKCON, Mangalagiri, walked in unison. Residents of Gollamudi village greeted the procession with traditional 'arti' and floral offerings, adding cultural warmth to the event. Upon reaching the VVIT campus, ISKCON members performed a special puja and Maha Aarti, marking the culmination of the yatra.
