'We look out the window and there is the circuit'
A Formula 1 team principal said he hoped to "put on a show" for fans ahead of its "home race" at the British Grand Prix this Sunday.
The Aston Martin F1 team's £200m headquarters, located across the road from the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, opened in 2023.

The team is one of seven British-based F1 outfits, but none can claim to be closer than the Aston Martin HQ on Dadford Road.
"We look out the window and there's the circuit." said Andy Cowell, who is also the team's chief executive.
"It's very definitely our home race and we're looking forward to seeing all the fans with green T-shirts and green caps on and hopefully we can put on a good show."
The team, owned by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, is eighth in this season's constructors' championship with two-time world drivers' championship winner Fernando Alonso and Stroll's son, Lance, racing for it.

Formula 1 is marking its 75th anniversary in 2025 and Cowell, who formerly worked for the Brackley-based Mercedes team, said he had many fond memories of races at Silverstone.
"I guess seeing Lewis Hamilton with the gold [Royal Automobile Club] trophy a few times," he said. "Having contributed to that was a special moment".

Aston Martin's £200m home features a factory and wind tunnel for testing the performance of its cars.
Speaking to BBC Radio Northampton's Motorsport Show about the building, Guy Austin, who designed the campus, said: "You look out of the window here, look at the view everybody gets out of this building... it's extraordinary. There's no other Formula One team that offers that.

"Creating the very best environment allows us to attract the very best talent and hopefully retain the very best talent because we're creating the best environment in Formula 1.
"I can confidently say that, because I've delivered every factory in this country for Formula 1, apart from McLaren."

F1 chief Stefano Domenicali tells Keir Starmer what sets the UK apart: ‘The home of our sport'
Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali has revealed what sets the UK apart in the sport in a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer ahead of Silverstone. Starmer welcomed a host of F1 personalities, including drivers Carlos Sainz, Alex Albon, Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon, to 10 Downing Street on Wednesday in celebration of the sport's 75th anniversary year. Advertisement With close to half a million set to flock to the British Grand Prix this weekend, Domenicali believes it is not simply the country's passion for motorsport that makes it so integral to F1, but also what it puts into the industry, highlighting the UK's burgeoning employment sector in F1 that is unmatched by any other. "Next year, nine of the 11 Formula 1 teams will have a base here. We have our office and technical centre here in the UK. No other country can make that claim, and we are very proud of it,' said Domenicali. "But this is not just about the presence here, it is about what we bring with fans, employees at 4,500 companies working with the sport, 41,000 jobs linked to the F1. And 25,000 highly skilled engineers. We generate over £12bn to the UK economy and help keep the country a leader in world-class innovation, technology and skills. "This country is passionate about Formula 1 motorsport, and very proud of it. Seventy-five years ago, Formula 1 started here in the UK at Silverstone in 1950. Since then, it has become a British institution with deep roots and a huge contribution to the country.' Advertisement Domenicali has run the sport since 2019 and recently agreed a new five-year deal to remain in his post. Other attendees at Downing Street included leaders of the incoming Cadillac F1 operation Graeme Lowdon and Daniel Towriss, F1 Academy managing director Susie Wolff, and F1 legends Sir Jackie Stewart, Damon Hill, Martin Brundle and Jenson Button. Starmer added: "It is really great to have you and to celebrate that so many teams have chosen the UK as their base. This is pretty extraordinary - the sheer number of teams that are based here, just like the headquarters of Formula 1 itself. And next season's new teams on the grid - Cadillac, which opened a new facility at Silverstone, and Audi's building its technical centre near there as well. "So the continuation of the British stamp on the sport is absolutely there. In fact, there is only one team without a presence here, and I did wonder whether it would be too much of a diplomatic incident if I tried to lure Ferrari out of Italy, and whether it would increase our relationship or not!" The British GP is race 12 of the 2025 F1 season and will be nine-time winner Lewis Hamilton's first home race in Ferrari red.

Gill and Jadeja broken by England after 203-run stand at Edgbaston
BIRMINGHAM, England — India cruised to lunch on 419-6 as Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja collected easy runs against England on the second morning of the second test at Edgbaston on Thursday. The captain and Jadeja ate up ideal batting conditions — a flat pitch under sunny skies — in a partnership of 203 runs. Gill moved from 114 overnight to 168, his maiden 150-plus score. Jadeja advanced from 41 to 89 when he tried to fend off a Josh Tongue short ball that reared up. Jadeja gloved it to the wicketkeeper about 10 minutes before lunch. That wicket finally exposed India's wobbly tail and bowling allrounder Washington Sundar was with Gill on 1 at lunch. India scored 109 runs in the session in a slow 25 overs. Until Tongue's breakthrough, England didn't look like taking a wicket. The only disturbance to the serenity was very early when England complained to the umpires about Jadeja running on the pitch. Jadeja's reply was to cut and drive England captain Ben Stokes for consecutive boundaries. He reached his 50 in 80 balls, his ninth 50-plus score against England. Gill flicked, drove, pulled and punched Brydon Carse for fours, and reverse swept spinner Shoaib Bashir for another. Closer to lunch, both batters hit sixes off Bashir in the same over; Jadeja over long-on to bring up India's 400 total, and Gill a sweep. They were smiling and chuckling in the middle. But the smiles were gone moments later when Jadeja was out after a 173-ball knock including 10 boundaries and a six. Gill has 18 boundaries and the six. ___ AP cricket:
