Tipster reveals when the Google Pixel 10 Pro will go on sale
We were contacted by someone who works at a phone shop, claiming to have seen documents that state that the Google Pixel 10 Pro sale will go live on August 20.
This might apply to the entire 10-series, though it might not – last year Google launched the vanilla and Pro XL models in August, then the small Pro and the Pro Fold in September. Given that the tip was specifically for the 10 Pro, we don't think that the 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL will be split this time around. Whether the Pro Fold is ready in time is another question.
We can't verify the claims of our tipster, but the information is not surprising either. Note that the August 20 date most likely refers to the start of pre-orders - Google should begin shipping pre-orders and kick off open sales of the new models several days after that. The Google Pixel 10 series
Looking back at the 9-series, it was unveiled on August 13 and pre-orders for the vanilla and Pro XL models started immediately after the event. Shipping and open sales for those two started on August 22. Deliveries of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold were set for September 4 and open sales began the day after.
If the Pixel 10 series follows the same timeline, pre-orders will start on August 20 and the first models will be shipping by the end of the month. Nine days later is August 29, a Friday. There's a good chance that the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a will follow the same timeline as the Pixel phones.

The main 50MP camera has a smaller but still large 1/1.3' sensor. There is only one telephoto module on board, but it's a 200MP 3x/72mm camera. And there's the 50MP ultra-wide too. The Honor has the bigger battery too, 5,850mAh vs. 5,410mAh for the global models, with comparable charging (100W wired, 80W wireless vs. 90W wired, 80W wireless). The Google Pixel 9 is up to £300 off, which makes it as cheap as it has ever been. But the more capable Google Pixel 9 Pro isn't far off with a solid discount of its own. Check out our detailed head-to-head comparison for a closer look at how these two stack up. Unfortunately, Pro models with more than 128GB storage seem to be out of stock. You can try your luck at the Google online store, but at the moment of writing that doesn't have any stock either. If you like high-end Snapdragons on the cheap, the Poco F7 family is the place to go. The vanilla Poco F7 offers a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for just £330 at the moment. It is paired with a large 6.83' 12-bit 1280p+ display with 3,200 nits peak brightness and a huge 6,500mAh battery. However, the camera is pretty basic. The Poco F7 Pro upgrades you to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (no 's') for just £50 more. Its display is smaller at 6.67', but it has a higher resolution of 1440p+. The battery is pretty big too at 6,000mAh. Our Poco F7 vs. F7 Pro article has more details. Then there's the Poco F7 Ultra – it's pricey for a Poco F, but this is as close to a proper flagship as the series has ever gotten. And it's hard to find a Snapdragon 8 Elite at just over £500 anywhere else. The 5,300mAh battery is on the small side, but it has fast wired (120W) and wireless (50W) charging. The camera has a 50MP 1/1.55' sensor, there is a telephoto module too, 50MP 2.5x/60mm, and a 32MP ultra-wide. Not amazing, but better than any previous Poco F. Here's how it compares with the F7 Pro. Another branch of the Xiaomi family tree has the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G. It is equipped with a 200MP main camera, but that's where most of the budget went – the ultra-wide has only an 8MP sensor. To be fair, we're looking at something that's quite a bit cheaper than even the vanilla Poco F7 and it offers a great quality 6.67' display for the class (1220p+, 12-bit, Dolby Vision, 3,000 nits with GG Victus 2). The 5,110mAh battery is on the small side, but since this is the Pro+ model, you get 120W wired-only fast charging. If you are looking at a Samsung Galaxy S25 model, check out the Samsung UK offer, which gives you a free Galaxy Watch7, plus a few other perks like 6 months of Google AI Pro (with 2TB cloud storage) for free. However, the base discounts are pretty small – e.g. the S25 and S25+ are only £100 off. Sure, the free Watch7 adds value and you get a minimum of £50 if you trade in an old phone. Still, the S25+ starts at £900. You can dodge the hassle and get the Galaxy S25+ for £700 after a £200 discount and additional £100 off at checkout from Amazon. No freebies, but a Watch7 may not be to your taste, anyway. The Samsung Galaxy S25 starts at £700 in Samsung's offer and if you want the small flagship, you should probably take it. Amazon UK has it cheaper at £650, but without the extra £100 at checkout, we think we'd rather pay £50 more and get the free watch. That £50 difference disappears with the guaranteed £50 trade-in value, anyway, so check your drawers for an old, forgotten smartphone. PS. It's official! T-Mobile swallows another wireless provider
T-Mobile officially closed Friday on its latest purchase as 4 million UScellular customers now belong to T-Mobile and can experience what Ookla called "the best mobile network" in the U.S. Consumers in UScellular's coverage area who were unable to subscribe for high-speed connectivity eventually will be able to join T-Mobile 's in-home broadband service. But the advantages aren't all going to former UScellular customers. T-Mobile said on Friday that its customers who find themselves in UScellular's former coverage areas will benefit from enhanced network coverage. That's because, as part of the transaction, T-Mobile gets spectrum once owned by the carrier that was the fifth largest in the U.S. UScellular customers will enjoy a seamless transition to the T-Mobile network and should notice performance improvements right away starting from the first day. Nearly all UScellular customer devices will continue to work on the T-Mobile network. But once networks and systems become integrated, these customers will be able to select from one of T-Mobile 's unlimited plans to join. Once on a T-Mobile plan, these customers will have the opportunity to add great features to their unlimited plans and enjoy such outstanding streaming services such as Netflix, AppleTV+, and UScellular customers moving to a T-Mobile unlimited plan will be allowed to roam internationally in over 215 countries and destinations free, view free in-flight Wi-Fi, take advantage of built-in device upgrades, and more. UScellular customers could decide to move up to one of the Experience plans, which include T-Satellite. This benefit automatically connects T-Mobile subscribers' phones with a Starlink satellite in areas where there is no cellular service. Users are currently limited to sending and receiving text messages and sharing their location via their phones' messaging app. Picture and voice messaging via satellite is also being pushed out now by T-Mobile . The carrier says that next, satellite data from optimized apps will be available. Eventually, users will be able to make and take calls via satellite. Former UScellular subscribers can also decide to choose a T-Mobile plan made for first responders, teachers, and Seniors (those 55 and older). The final totals for the deal show that T-Mobile acquired practically all of UScellular's wireless operations for $4.3 billion after final adjustments were made. T-Mobile paid $2.6 billion in cash and will assume responsibilities for approximately $1.7 billion in UScellular debt. T-Mobile will take over responsibility for this debt following an exchange offer made to UScellular debtholders, which is expected to close on August 5, 2025. The UScellular brand will transition in phases to T-Mobile . Before or during its third quarter earnings call, T-Mobile will release a statement about how the transaction will affect the company financially. As we told you late last month, UScellular will get a new name and NYSE ticker symbol. Array Digital Infrastructure Inc. is the new name, and AD is the new stock symbol. The company will now manage two portfolios; one consists of cell towers, and the other consists of spectrum. Now that the UScellular deal has closed, it joins some other recent acquisitions made by T-Mobile . Last year, the carrier picked up MVNO Mint Mobile, which was part-owned by actor Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds also came up with Mint's humor-based ad campaigns which still run to this day. Also announced last year, T-Mobile picked up another MVNO, Ultra Mobile. The Mint Mobile closing took place on May 1st, 2024, while the Ultra Mobile transaction closed on the very same day. Of course, the largest deal closed by T-Mobile was the $26.5 billion acquisition of Sprint, which closed on April 1st, 2020. Before that deal, T-Mobile bought MVNO MetroPCS, with that transaction closing on May 1, 2013.

iPhone 17 Air's battery leaks and it's ridiculously small
Vlad, 01 August 2025 Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 Air this year alongside the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. The Air will be very thin and is the replacement for the Plus model in the line, which has been the worst selling by far. To accomplish better success, the iPhone 17 Air will be all about radical slimness, but in the service of that it will only have one rear camera like the iPhone 16e. And it's also been rumored to have a tiny battery. Today a new leak brings us some shots that purportedly show its battery in all its glory, here it is. Alleged shots of the iPhone 17 Air's battery The source of these images tells us to expect the iPhone 17 Air's battery capacity to be "around 2,900 mAh", which even for iPhones (that are notoriously more efficient than Android devices) is incredibly small. For comparison's sake, note that the vanilla iPhone 16 has a 3,561 mAh cell, and that's the smallest one of the family. The iPhone 17 Air's battery will be encased in steel. Such technology was first used for the iPhone 16 Pro last year. The steel case is supposed to improve heat dissipation and battery density thanks to its higher structural resistance. The steel case can also very easily be integrated with the L-shaped design of the phone's inner side, fitting its reduced-size logic board perfectly. The entire iPhone 17 lineup is said to come with new battery adhesives that will serve to make replacements easier.
