Scot who died after getting into difficulty during Ironman event named
Sam Buchan, from Scotland, got into difficulty approximately halfway through the swim portion of the triathlon on July 13.
He was given immediate medical care and taken to the hospital, where he died three days later.
The 31-year-old's death was confirmed by Swansea coroner's office.
The event marked the UK's first-ever Ironman Pro Series, featuring a swim at the Prince of Wales Dock before a 56-mile cycle.
A spokesperson for Ironman said: 'Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of the athlete. We will continue to offer them our support and keep them in our thoughts as they go through this challenging time.
'We are deeply grateful to the swim safety personnel and first responders who worked quickly to provide the athlete with medical assistance.
'Out of respect for the family and friends, we will have no further comment at this time.'

Conan admits that victory tastes all the sweeter for having been taken to the wire as Australia raised their game to a whole new level a week after starting the series with a whimper in Brisbane. Lennon Miller to Bologna transfer domino that has yet to fall as Celtic told 'truth' about hijack attempt
The Motherwell midfielder is attracting interest from across Europe this summer Bologna are reportedly holding off on a formal bid for Motherwell prospect Lennon Miller as they look to sell on their key stars. The Serie A side and their rivals Udinese are both keen on the £5million-rated teenager - who did not feature in any of the Steelmen's Premier Sports Cup group stage games. Napoli and Nottingham Forest are reportedly battling it out for a £43million deal - with the Italian side now pressing pause on an incoming stars as they await a cash injection. That leaves the door open other clubs to snap up the Scotland internatioanal with Udinese and Como among the interested parties - while Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is understood to be a fan of Miller.
