BREAKING NEWS Channel Nine confirms veteran will make a sensational return to TV after quitting radio gig

Daily Maila day ago
Channel Nine has confirmed Deborah Knight will be stepping away from her role on 2GB's Money News and returning to a full-time television role at the network.
The seasoned journalist is set to take on the role of presenter for the national 9News Morning bulletin at 11:30am each weekday from July 21.
The 52-year-old will also present 9News Afternoon each weekday in Sydney and will continue to host A Current Affair on Saturday night.
'I'm incredibly excited to be stepping back into a full-time television role with 9News and Current Affairs,' Deb said.
'It's a fantastic opportunity to be part of the daily news cycle and connect with viewers during these important bulletins.

'I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in radio, particularly hosting Money News, and I'm grateful for the wonderful listeners who tuned in. I'm also very pleased to continue hosting A Current Affair on Saturday nights.'
Deb's final show on 2GB will be on Thursday, with a new host set to be announced in the coming weeks.
National Content Manager of Nine Radio Greg Byrnes acknowledged her contribution to radio.
'Deb has been an integral part of the 2GB on-air team since 2020, but her ties to talk radio stretch back much further,' he said.
'Nationally, the Money News program with Deb as host, has recorded some of its best ratings on record and she finishes up as No. 1 overall in Sydney. We'll miss Deb on and off the air but as she's remaining in the Nine family she'll never be too far away.'
Deb's exit from 2GB will leave the Sydney station without any female presenters during the weekday daytime lineup.
She first joined 2GB's afternoon program in 2020, reportedly on a $600,000 salary, before being moved off the role in late 2023 due to disappointing ratings.
At the time, the broadcaster was said to be 'shattered' by the decision.
Despite the shake-up, Knight quickly bounced back, taking over Money News in November 2023 in a revamped 7pm-8pm slot.
And it didn't take long for her to prove the doubters wrong.
Knight helped drive Money News to a 13.3 per cent share in the latest ratings survey -ranking her number one in the country for the timeslot, and more than doubling the show's audience in Queensland, where it's also broadcast on Brisbane's 4BC.
The program also recorded a 0.6 point increase in the latest survey, contributing to 2GB's strongest ratings result of the year.

Bec Judd is mocked for shaving her legs in the supermarket aisle in cringe Coles promo

Bec Judd has copped some gentle ribbing from fans after sharing a cringeworthy Coles promo. The football WAG and influencer, 42, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a clip that showed her spruiking Gem Personal Care products, which are sold in the supermarket chain. The clip showed Bec swanning into her local Coles supermarket in Brighton, decked out in a sleeveless black hooded top and form-fitting black gym shorts. She went 'bougie' for her sponsored shopping trip too, accessorising with a Louis Vuitton bag slung over her shoulder. Bec then walked down one aisle, where she found an array of Gem deodorants. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Without hesitation, she picked up a couple of cans and proceeded to liberally spray their contents on her underarms. She did something similar with a bottle of Gem body mist, spritzing up a storm in the aisle. Bec's public personal grooming didn't end there, as she discovered the company's grooming range. She proceeded to take a can of shaving gel and lather a healthy portion over her lithe legs before shaving her pins in-store. 'I couldn't help myself,' she said in the clip, while offering the camera a cheeky wink. Bec's public preening was met with some low-key mockery from fans, with one commenting: 'the shave mid aisle hahahaha.' Another questioned Bec's decision to step out in such skimpy attire during inclement weather. 'You're shopping in tiny shorts and a T in 10-degree weather,' they wrote with a raised eyebrow emoji. Others, however, praised Bec for her mid-aisle leg shave, with one fan adding: 'Shaving in the aisle is a mood.' Another admitted that Bec's display had the desired effect with: 'Great promo!!!! Great humour!! So I'm going to Coles immediately.' In April, Bec fired up about the unrealistic beauty standards foisted upon women of a certain age in the public eye. 'I am around the same age as Lindsay (Lohan), Anne (Hathaway) and Hilary (Duff). For the record, I think they look unreal,' she began in several fiery Instagram posts. 'Beauty standards for women are just impossible. If you show signs of ageing, you have let yourself go. 'If you look too fresh-faced for your age, you are accused of getting work done and blamed for promoting vanity when you should just be comfortable with growing old and looking old. '"Oh but yuk", society says, "women shouldn't look old." And so the cycle continues. Women can't win.' Bec has long been a beacon of ageless beauty, spruiking skincare brands, facials, and non-surgical treatments for her plump visage. For two decades, she has denied having any plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures done, instead pointing to healthy living and expensive skincare as her saving grace.

BHP inks charter contracts with COSCO for ammonia dual-fuelled vessels

SINGAPORE, July 2 (Reuters) - Australia's BHP Group ( opens new tab has signed contracts with China's COSCO Shipping for the charter of two ammonia dual-fuelled Newcastlemax bulk carriers, the mining giant said on Wednesday. The two vessels are expected to be delivered from 2028 and will be charted for five years. They will mainly be used to transport iron ore from Western Australia to Northeast Asia. These vessels can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50 per cent and up to 95 per cent on a per-voyage basis compared to a conventionally-fuelled voyage, if they run on lower or low-to-zero GHG emissions ammonia, according to BHP. The mining giant previously told Reuters that it plans to receive its first ammonia-fuelled bulk carrier from 2026 as part of the company's plans to cut shipping emissions. Ammonia is among several alternative fuels that shippers are exploring to cut carbon emissions, though adoption will take time to scale up.

US, Indo-Pacific partners agree to strengthen maritime, critical minerals cooperation

The United States. Australia, India and Japan have agreed to expand their cooperation on maritime security in the Indo-Pacific and further collaborate on supplies of critical minerals and rare earths that are key components of high-tech production. The foreign ministers of the four countries, known as the 'Quad,' met in Washington on Tuesday as the Trump administration seeks to expand U.S. influence in the Indo-Pacific to compete with a rising China amid tensions with partners over trade and defense issues. In a joint meeting with his three colleagues, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Quad must be a 'vehicle for action' that goes beyond statements of intent and stressed that commerce and trade will be critical to ensuring the group's relevance in the future. To that end, the four announced in a statement the creation of a 'Quad Critical Minerals Initiative' that aims 'to strengthen economic security and collective resilience by collaborating on securing and diversifying critical mineral supply chains.' The statement did not provide details of the initiative. 'We are deeply concerned about the abrupt constriction and future reliability of key supply chains, specifically for critical minerals,' they said. 'This includes the use of non-market policies and practices for critical minerals, certain derivative products, and mineral processing technology.' The statement did not mention China by name, but Chinese domination of the critical minerals supply chain has long been a concern of the U.S. and others. The ministers expressed specific concern about rising tensions in the East and South China Seas, where Beijing has become increasingly assertive of maritime and territorial claims that are rejected by its smaller neighbors. 'We reiterate our strong opposition to any unilateral actions that seek to change the status quo by force or coercion,' they said. 'We express our serious concerns regarding dangerous and provocative actions, including interference with offshore resource development, the repeated obstruction of the freedoms of navigation and overflight, and the dangerous maneuvers by military aircraft and coast guard and maritime militia vessels, especially the unsafe use of water cannons and ramming or blocking actions in the South China Sea.' The ministers also condemned North Korea for continuing to launch ballistic missiles, expand its nuclear weapons program and engage in malicious cyberactivity. In a veiled reference to North Korean support for Russia in its war against Ukraine, they expressed 'deep concern about countries that are deepening military cooperation with North Korea, which directly undermines the global nonproliferation regime.'
