Lee Carsley challenges England Under-21s to complete European hat-trick
Harvey Elliott and Omari Hutchinson gave England a 2-0 first-half lead before Nelson Weiper and Paul Nebel drew Germany level.
Germany came close to snatching it late on when Nebel rattled the woodwork.
Substitute Jonathan Rowe then made an instant impact from the bench in extra-time as his header put England ahead with Germany nearly salvaging an equaliser in the dying moments when Merlin Rohl was denied by the crossbar.
Carsley expressed his pride at his players' achievement.

'I'm proud of the players, the commitment they've shown over the last 28 days and all the instruction we've tried to put into them so quickly, they've taken it on board,' he told Channel 4 post-match.
'They've got so much belief, we spoke about it when we were at St George's that this squad believe that they can win and that's the kind of players we need.
'I'm so proud of them, so happy for them. To be European champions for the second time is a great achievement and I suppose the challenge now is to do it again in two years.
'Any setback we've had, the players have just got together. I think I said at the start of the tournament, the longer we stay in, the better we play.
'I didn't think we played great tonight, I thought we sat a little bit too deep and didn't have as much control as I would've wanted, but we probably won't remember that in a couple of days.'
Carsley's side had won the tournament two years ago in Georgia and steered his side to back-to-back titles with a thrilling victory in Bratislava.
The 51-year-old had an interim stint in charge of the senior England team following Gareth Southgate's departure last year and at the start of June, he signed a new deal through to the end of the 2027 European Championship.
When asked what was next and if he could work alongside Thomas Tuchel, Carsley replied: 'I'm not sure, I'm going to try and enjoy tonight. I love my job, I'm very proud of the job that I do, I love working with the players.

'Obviously I've had a chance with the senior team and loved that. So the best thing I can do is help the pathway and try to help the senior team.'
Marseille forward Rowe ensured England wrapped up the title, flicking a header home two minutes after coming off the bench in extra time and he hailed his team's mentality.
'Everyone's exceptional, the mindset from the minute I came into the camp, I could just tell that everyone had the same mindset,' Rowe said.
'We all wanted to win, we've done that now, job's finally finished and we can all celebrate.'

Imminent Rangers transfer ridiculed as Hotline spots the real answer staring Russell Martin in the face
The calculators are out on the Hotline but is the free transfer option one Rangers should be pursuing? Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, thinks so. He said: "It's unlikely Rangers will get the money wanted for Hamza lgamane, he'll stay. With Dessers it's been a drawn-out affair for that extra £1m, he also may stay. So any point spending £5m on a risky untried Dor Turgeman who may or may not be any good? " Russell Martin wants to wake up to himself and get Lawrence Shankland for nothing, it's staring him in the face. He's fit and ready for European and SPFL games. Most punters say it's common sense, and last chance saloon for Martin to get him." Charles Maxwell reckons former head of recruitment Nils Koppen is due some credit for his role in bringing Igamane to Ibrox in the first place. He said: "Going by the figures flying around for Igamane, it's beginning to look like blue chip holdings sold the golden goose just as it was starting to lay an egg or two. "Perhaps now the poorly treated and recently punted Nils Koppen will get the credit he deserves." Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: "Rangers and their fans need to stop dreaming. I was scoffed at by Chris Lowe and co for mocking Rangers £25m valuation of Igamane and now it seems that has dropped to a pitiful £13m and the likes of Lille are walking away laughing. "Celtic get big money deals for our players because we are champions and play at a much higher level in Europe so get used to it. " Rangers have been heavily linked with Brighton teenager Zebedee Lawson but Richard Wharton, Carlisle, said: "Who is this Zebedee who has turned down Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Dortmund to sign on at Govan? Oh yes he's from the magic roundabout!" Across the city Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, has two exits he'd like to see at Celtic. He said: "So fed up with the same crap coming out of Parkhead every transfer window. Forget buying rubbish. Just get proper professional coaches in and bring through the talent at Lennoxtown. "What we have now is coach John Kennedy who wanders about the training ground with a notepad and fellow hanger-on Gavin Strachan who does the same only with his trusty laptop. Get this pair out or Celtic will never go forward." Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: "It's reported that Brenford are the latest club to be linked with Daizan Maeda but I think he will have second thoughts regarding moving at this stage of his career when seeing how Matt O'Riley and Kyogo's moves turned out. "Brentford are hardly a Bayern and I can see him moving to a top European side in the future but not at this moment in time." And a quote from Jim Goodwin after signing defender Bert Esselink has caught Tim Gibbens' attention. He said: "Are Dundee United now being managed by an algorithm? "Jim Goodwin announced the signing of Bert Esselink by saying that 'the statistical data reinforces his intelligence when selecting a progressive passing option'. Can you imagine the likes of Jock Stein or Brian Clough ever saying that?"

Rangers star bids emotional farewell to club as he confirms spell has ‘come to an end'
RANGERS will be hoping to shift some players out of the club this summer. But one man who doesn't appear to have an Ibrox future is on his way BACK. 3 Joe Cifuentes played 29 times in the Greek Super League for Aris Thessaloniki Credit: Alamy 3 He now looks set to return to Rangers Credit: Willie Vass Jose Cifuentes was a key transfer target for Michael Beale when he was Rangers manager. The Ecuador international signed a pre-contract deal in the summer of 2023 to join the Light Blues the following January following the conclusion of the MLS season. But the Gers would get the deal done early, paying LAFC £1.2million to land Cifuentes just as the 2023/24 campaign was getting started. The midfielder, capped 21 times by his country, struggled. He made just nine appearances in the league and wasn't able to make much of an impact. Beale was sacked as Gers boss at the beginning of October and Cifuentes found opportunities hard to come by under his replacement Philippe Clement. In February 2024, just six months after joining the Gers, Cifuentes was on the way out. He joined Cruzeiro on loan but his time in Brazil would also come to an end after just six months. That loan agreement was terminated and Cifuentes then headed for Greece, joining Aris Thessaloniki on a season-long loan last August. He would become a key man for Aris, appearing 29 times in the league. Ex-Rangers supremo David Murray on the club's new owners and why Gio shouldn't have been sacked The club secured European football after finishing fifth and they'll enter the Conference League qualifiers. Aris had the option to sign Cifuentes permanently in a £3m deal but they missed the deadline at the end of May to make it happen. They indicated to Rangers they couldn't afford the fee and re-entered negotiations with the Light Blues. But no agreement was reached and Cifuentes has now bid an emotional farewell to Aris. He'll now head back to Rangers and looks set to show new boss Russell Martin what he can do. Taking to Instagram, Cifuentes said: "Thank you, Aris! 3 "Teammates, coaching staff, fans, and club personnel: It has been a pleasure to share this season with all of you—a season full of challenges that has now come to an end. "On behalf of myself and my family, I thank you for everything we have experienced, and I wish you all the best for the upcoming season!" Cifuentes still has two years left to run on his Rangers contract. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
