'Aaj meri darling ka burday hai,' Karan began in his caption, going on to share how his grandfather, a magistrate, wanted to celebrate his youngest daughter's birthday with grandeur. 'He told her she was born on 1st July, not 30th June… just so he could celebrate it with flair,' Karan wrote with affection. 'Lekin ab hum amir ho gaye hain, so we celebrate both days.'
While this milestone birthday called for a grand celebration, Karan shared that he couldn't be by her side and for a beautiful reason.
He starts shooting for his new film on the very same day. 'It's her 70th birthday and also my 1st day on my film set which starts shooting tomorrow… but I promise to make it up to you mommy love.'
