In six months of 2025, state deported 77 foreigners for overstaying, illegal activities
In the first half of this year, 77 foreigners — 32 men and 45 women — were deported from the state by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). These foreigners are from Russia, Bangladesh, Uganda, Nigeria, Britain, Argentina, Ukraine, Belarus, and Mauritius.
Goa police arrested 32 foreigners for overstaying and eight in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances cases.
Operation Flushout launched by Goa police involves intensive action against foreigners who deliberately overstay or engage in illegal activities. North Goa police and the crime branch have been continuously acting against these offences. The action intensified in May and June 2025.
A total of 56 such actions were taken over the past six months, of which 35 cases were detected in May and June.
'Operation Flushout will continue,' SP crime branch Rahul Gupta said. 'Our resolve is to ensure that foreigners who come to India follow and respect the law and culture of the country. Action was enhanced in recent months as per the directions of the chief minister and the DGP.'
FRRO SP Arshi Aadil said, 'Of the 32 males deported by FRRO Goa, 13 were from Russia, 12 from Bangladesh, and one each from Uganda, Nigeria, Poland, Morocco, Britain, Ukraine, and Mauritius.'

Aadil added, 'Of the 45 females deported, 17 were from Uganda, 14 from Bangladesh, 12 from Russia, and one each from Britain, Ukraine, Belarus, and Argentina.'
Police said that FRRO Mumbai shared the details with Goa police on the illegal stay of foreigners in the state, and based on that, action was taken in Goa.
'The action against illegally overstaying foreigners will continue considering the security of our nation,' Goa police said.
'The accommodation providers are requested to promptly submit the C-Forms to indianfrro.gov.in about foreign nationals within 24 hours of their arrival in their accommodation and to effect cross-entry of their departure on the online portal once they depart from their accommodation.
'
The public is requested to report any illegally overstaying foreigners noticed in their locality to the nearest police station for appropriate action, Goa police said.
'Timely reporting will go a long way in maintaining law and order and peace in the state,' police said.

Bizman dies after neck gets stuck in goods lift amid power cut
Meerut: A 63-year-old sports equipment manufacturer died after his neck got trapped in an "illegal" goods lift inside his workshop during a power outage in Meerut's Surajkund area on Saturday evening, police said. Harvinder Singh was using the lift meant for transporting goods from the ground to the second floor when a power cut occurred. Police said Singh leaned out to check the situation, just as the electricity suddenly resumed, causing the lift to move abruptly and trap his neck. CCTV footage captured him stuck in the elevator for nearly 15 minutes. Factory workers managed to pull him out and rush him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. SP (city) Ayush Vikram Singh said, "His body was sent for postmortem examination, and the autopsy reports are awaited. No complaint has been filed in the case.
