Source Says Cowboys Report On Rookie Star Shavon Revel ‘Completely Wrong'
The Dallas Cowboys believe they have a star-quality player and future starter in Day 2 NFL Draft selection Shavon Revel Jr.

The scouting staff, coaching staff and medical staff at The Star knew full well that when the Cowboys selected East Carolina standout Revel Jr. - whose college career came to an early end after suffering a torn ACL - that rehab would be part of the process.
There are still some questions about a solid timetable as it regards readiness to start training camp in Oxnard later in July. … but there is also still hope that he would be healthy for the start of the regular season.
Suddenly, though, it is being suggested that Revel's health status could be in jeopardy, according to a new update from SI.com's Albert Breer.
According to Breer on the latest episode of MMQB, Revel suffered "a little bit of a setback with his knee."

The problem with the national report?
It's false.
'It's completely wrong.' a source close to the situation tells CowboysCountry.com.
Our source tells us that the 6-3, 195-pound Revel is doing all the things necessary to get ready as quickly and as smartly as possible.
And that he is doing so without any sort of 'setback.'
Another source wonders if Breer's reference is to the pre-draft injury itself … though that was hardly a 'little bit of a setback.' (Breer is now claiming that's exactly what he meant.)
If Revel can return to his pre-injury form as viewed by the Cowboys scouting department he could jump into a lead role alongside DaRon Bland.

Ultimately, that's been part of the plan here. And errant reports aside, the plan has not been altered.

Dez Bryant hits back at Jerry Jones after getting dragged into Micah Parsons saga: ‘We can have story time'
Dez Bryant and Roc Nation are calling out Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for dragging them into the messy Micah Parsons negotiations. Bryant called out Jones for being 'disrespectful' in comments made Saturday rehashing negotiations between the former wide receiver and the team's front office in 2015. 'Jerry Jones I don't think it's smart to mention my name,' Bryant posted Saturday on X. 'I kept quiet about a lot of unfair s–t…We can have story time if that's what we are doing. 3 Dez Bryant is pictured during a December 2017 game for the Cowboys. Getty Images 3 Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, is pictured on July 26. Imagn Images 'Y'all don't understand the amount of s–t I let slide,' he added in another post. 'Do not mention my name about s–t.' Jones had brought up Bryant to reporters Saturday while being questioned about the recent trade request by Parsons, the Cowboys' four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher who had posted Friday on X that 'I no longer want to be here' and 'no longer want to be held to close door negotiations without my agent present.' When asked about the latter contention, the 82-year-old Jones told reporters, 'When we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found.' Jones then brought up negotiations a decade ago with Bryant and Roc Nation Sports, the agency run by Jay-Z. 'Jay-Z said that Dez would make all meetings. Jay-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours,' Jones said. 'He said, 'Anybody in my organization is on time.' He said, 'My office used to be on the street corner, and I've always been early. So, they will be on time.' 3 Micah Parsons is pictured at Cowboys training camp on July 22. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect 'And what did I say? I said, 'I'm going to call you [if I have a problem].' He quit taking my call.' Bryant landed a five-year deal worth $70 million before the 2015 NFL season, but he was released in 2018. Roc Nation also issued a statement Saturday on X refuting Jones' claims. 'In 2015, at the 21 Club, on a napkin, Jerry Jones, Juan Perez, Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter and Stephen Jones negotiated a five-year, $70 million deal, which included a $45 million guarantee and a $20 million signing bonus for Dez Bryant,' the post read. 'At the time, it was the second-largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history. The claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it's also a comical one.'

Dez Bryant, Roc Nation take issue with Jerry Jones
The recent Jerry Jones word potato salad regarding his direct negotiations with linebacker Micah Parsons included a gratuitous slap at former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant and his agent, Jay-Z. Via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones had this to say about Bryant and Jay-Z: '[W]hen we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found. Jay-Z said that Dez would make all meetings. Jay-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours. He said, 'Anybody in my organization is on time.' He said, 'My office used to be on the street corner, and I've always been early. So, they will be on time.' And what did I say? I said, 'I'm going to call you [when I have a problem].' He quit taking my call.' Bryant responded on Twitter, with an all-caps warning for Jerry. (We've edited it, so that we're not screaming at your eyeballs.) "Jerry Jones," Bryant said, "I don't think it's smart to mention my name. I kept quiet about a lot of unfair shit. On some G shit. We can have story time if that's what we are doing." Jay-Z's sports agency, Roc Nation, issued a separate statement that takes issue with the claim that Jay-Z stopped taking Jerry's calls. (Again, we've edited it from the all-caps tweet.) "In 2015, at the 21 Club, on a napkin, Jerry Jones, Juan Perez, Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter, and Stephen Jones negotiated a five-year, $70 million deal, which included a $45 million guarantee and a $20 million signing bonus for Dez Bryant. At the time, it was the second-largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history. "The claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it's also a comical one." Setting aside the question of how Jay-Z was directly negotiating NFL contracts without being licensed by the NFLPA to do so, the currently salient point is this. Jerry Jones, in trying to put out the fire arising from Parsons requesting a trade, may have accidentally turned the hose on a couple of hornets' nests. We'll sit back and wait to see if he gets stung.

Judge tracks pitches, Leiter eyes Texas return as Yankees wait for reinforcements
Judge tracks pitches, Leiter eyes Texas return as Yankees wait for reinforcements originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Long before the gates opened, in a quiet Yankee Stadium, Aaron Judge stood in the batter's box on Wednesday. He didn't swing the bat he was holding, but it's another step in his rehab of the elbow injury that is expected to have him out until August. According to reports, Judge just tracked pitches from right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. during a live BP session. That allows him to maintain his timing after returning from a right flexor tendon strain. Judge has been hitting lightly in the cage, but this allows him to see live pitching. The Yankees aren't rushing him. With his UCL reportedly intact, the goal remains to get Judge back in the lineup as a DH before he gradually works his way back to the outfield. On Wednesday, Judge tracked and caught balls in the outfield, but did not throw them back in. He lightly tossed them to the side. There's still no official return date, but early August is in play if his elbow responds well. As for Leiter, he's a step ahead in his rehab and could be back soon. Leiter is recovering from a stress fracture in his left fibula and has been throwing off a mound. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the team is targeting the upcoming series in Texas for his return—assuming no setbacks. The Yankees are desperate for arms, especially in the middle innings, and Leiter had been that key bridge before the injury sent him to the IL on July 7. Both Judge and Leiter seem to be heading in the right direction. Neither move solves the Yankees' larger issues. But with the trade deadline winding down and the injuries still stacking up, any internal help feels like a win.
