Singareni CMD plants 500 saplings during Van Mahotsav programme
Balaram has planted 19,570 saplings across 52 locations in Singareni since 2019, which have now grown into flourishing mini-forests.
Alongside the CMD, area general manager Lalith Kumar, other officials, employees, and union leaders also participated in the programme, planting an additional 500 saplings on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the CMD emphasised that environmental protection is everyone's responsibility, urging all individuals to plant at least three saplings in the available spaces around them and nurture them to grow. He stated that instead of leaving behind material wealth, the greatest asset we can gift to future generations is greenery through tree plantation.
He highlighted that Singareni has already planted over 70 million saplings across 14,000 hectares, which have now grown into large forests. As a result, the Singareni areas experience lower temperatures compared to other regions, a benefit achieved purely through plantation efforts.
The CMD mentioned that whenever new mines are opened or roads are expanded, trees that need to be cleared are not cut down but are relocated to other locations through the translocation method and replanted there.
He shared that he personally gives top priority to environmental protection and finds great happiness in seeing the saplings he planted develop into 40 mini-forests.
He stated that Singareni Collieries Company has set a target of planting 4.5 million saplings this year, with around 500,000 saplings already planted so far. He urged that the plantation drive be taken up vigorously across all areas.
General Manager Lalith Kumar urged everyone to follow CMD's example and actively participate in the plantation drive.
The programme saw the participation of CMOAI President B. Mallesh, AITUC deputy secretary Maddy Ellayya, SEWA president Anita Lalith Kumar, area senior officials, agents, managers, workers, and union leaders.

Ensure that flex banners on electric poles should not cause accidents, says chief secretary K Vijayanand
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Secretary K Vijayanand instructed the AP power utilities to take all possible measures to avoid hazardous incidents due to the flex banners placed near electric poles. He asked the officials to launch a special drive to remove the flex banners that were hung across electric supply poles and wires with the support of the local bodies. He said that the flex banners often cause outages and accidents. He directed the officials to regulate the fixation of flex banners on electricity poles to prevent such hazards. In a virtual review with the top officials of the power utilities, the Chief Secretary stressed that any disruption in power supply must be addressed immediately and resolved without delay. He asked the officials to ensure quality and uninterrupted power supply to electricity consumers in the state. The Chief Secretary emphasised the need to maintain and strengthen the level of public satisfaction in the electricity department by proactively ensuring there are no inconveniences or power outages. He directed APCPDCL to establish teams at each mandal capable of quickly identifying jumper faults, hanging wires, and low-voltage issues, and to resolve them immediately to maintain uninterrupted electricity. He also advised the use of drone technology to monitor inaccessible areas for jumper or wire issues and instructed that detected faults must be repaired at the earliest. Stating that the state govt places high trust in the electricity department, he urged all employees from CMD down to linemen to work collectively to boost consumer satisfaction and ensure preventive measures, particularly ahead of the rainy season, to avert accidents. The Chief Secretary assured continued power supply to households, commercial establishments, and industries, and advised the department to focus on preventing 'tripping' events (brief interruptions) and eliminate them proactively. He instructed that in any instance of power disruption, alternate power lines should be deployed to restore electricity. He also advised that during repair work, both the power department and ward secretariats should inform consumers in advance. APCPDCL CMD P Pulla Reddy reported that 1,503 agricultural feeders are receiving continuous nine-hour power supply, and residents and commercial consumers across municipalities, mandals, and villages are being served without any load relief. The senior officials explained that 79 of the 81 feeder breakdowns were restored on the same day on June 24. Among 170 failed Distribution Transformer (DTR) units, 110 were immediately repaired, and steps are underway to restore the remaining 60. There are currently approximately 1,440 healthy DTRs in operation. He said that their top priority is to ensure quality and uninterrupted electricity for all consumer categories, and that efforts are on to further strengthen power infrastructure and customer service.

Electricity Dept staff directed to patrol areas with good tree cover as branches falling on power lines disrupt supply
HYDERABAD Field staff of Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) was directed to regularly patrol areas having good tree cover as an analysis of power supply disruptions in feeders found that tripping mainly occurred when tree branches fell or got in contact with the power lines. They were asked to take necessary steps such as cutting/trimming tree branches that spread close to power lines. To ensure uninterrupted power supply during the monsoon season, chairman and managing director of the TGSPDCL Md. Musharraf Faruqui asked the engineers and field staff of the utility to constantly monitor the 33 kV and low-tension transmission and distribution network, critical feeders and distribution transformers. In a video conference held with chief engineers (CEs) and superintending engineers (SEs) from the utility's headquarters in Hyderabad on Monday (June 9, 2025), he instructed the SEs to conduct field inspections regularly and review the supply position with field staff once a week and focus on feeders facing most interruption. He also wanted them to conduct inspection of lines, feeders and AB (air break) switches and take steps to prevent recurrence of problems. The CMD asked all the supervisory and field staff to be available in their offices during heavy rains and warnings issued by the weather department. He said that the auto-rickshaws in the fuse-off-call offices were equipped with a GIS system so that they could reach the location of the complaints swiftly. The survey taken up as part of the Telangana GIS, Asset Management, Inspection and Maintenance System (TGAIMS) in the past had enabled the utility with complete information on the electric poles and distribution transformers. He asked the authorities to take up a similar survey in the case of 33 kV and low-tension networks. In-charge directors of the utility Narasimhulu and K. Saibaba, chief engineers Chakrapani, Balaswamy, Kamesh and others participated in the video conference from the Discom's headquarters.
