Trump backs Netanyahu, says Israeli PM must not be tried during war

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) called for the 'immediate' cancellation of the ongoing corruption trial against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sharing a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed shock over Israel continuing with what he called a witch hunt against Netanyahu. He wrote, 'I was shocked to hear that the State of Israel, which has just had one of its Greatest Moments in History, and is strongly led by Bibi Netanyahu, is continuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their Great wartime prime Minister! Bibi and I just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his LOVE for the incredible Holy Land.'
Trump praises 'Operation Rising Lion' and Netanyahu's leadership
Trump praised Netanyahu and his government as Israel launched 'Operation Rising Lion' on June 13, targeting Iranian nuclear sites to prevent further progress in Tehran's weapons programme. He credited Netanyahu's leadership for what he described as the 'complete elimination' of Iran's near-term nuclear weapons capability.
Trump calls Netanyahu trial politically motivated
Continuing his praise for Netanyahu, Trump stated that if anyone else had led the war, the outcome would have been 'losses and embarrassment,' while Netanyahu fought 'literally' for Israel's survival.
Calling the case against Netanyahu 'politically motivated,' Trump said the trial, ongoing since May 2020, marked the first time a sitting Israeli prime minister had faced trial. 'Just like the US saved Israel, it will now save Netanyahu from this horror show,' he wrote.
Details of the Netanyahu trial and ICC charges
Netanyahu is set to appear in court on June 30 for his ongoing corruption trial, which includes multiple charges such as bribery and fraud. He is currently facing three cases—known as Case 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000—all involving allegations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, according to Anadolu Agency.
Netanyahu has denied all charges, dismissing them as 'fake.' Separately, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants against him, accusing him of war crimes and crimes against humanity. These charges relate to civilian targeting and the alleged use of starvation tactics during Israel's military campaign in Gaza.

Indian exports not dependent on US, whole world is ready to do business with India: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that leaders like US President Donald Trump will get a befitting reply when India becomes the world's third-largest economy. 'India is not dependent on America for our exports. The whole world is standing with open arms to do business with India,' Gupta said, apparently referring to Trump's announcement of 25 per cent tariffs on imports from India and an unspecified penalty on the country for buying Russian oil. Gupta was speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of the Patparganj CPE Study Circle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push for 'vocal for local', One District One Product, and the use of swadeshi products means that everything Indians buy should have 'Indianness', Gupta said, 'so that all money spent by us is used by our country only'. 'If we all work together, then it will not take time to become the third-largest economy from the fourth number,' she added. Gupta also talked about the importance of chartered accountants (CAs). 'All the 30,000 CAs in Delhi are my army who encourage everyone to pay their taxes faithfully. Whenever there's a GST raid, the first call goes to a CA. They help ensure tax compliance,' she said. Gupta announced plans to launch a scheme to allow citizens to settle old tax dues without hassle. It would be a one-time opportunity, she said, adding that chartered accountants would play a pivotal role in its execution. 'We are working towards making the tax-paying system completely faceless. People shouldn't fear the Government. We are eliminating the need for multiple licences and simplifying systems,' she said. The chief minister said the public trust in chartered accountants is similar to that in doctors. 'No government campaign can be as effective as a CA's word. People trust their CA and do what they say,' she added. Gupta also stressed the need to end under-the-table transactions and build a governance model that encourages honesty and transparency. Netanyahu "Ready to Occupy Gaza" Despite IDF Objection, Zamir 'Frustrated', Asked to Resign if…

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have reached a decision for the full occupation of the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu's decision also includes areas where hostages are held, a source in the Prime Minister's Office told The Jerusalem Post on August 4. Netanyahu is set to convene his security cabinet this week to decide on Israel's next steps in Gaza amid speculations that more force could be an option. Several Israeli ministers reportedly said Netanyahu referred to the term 'occupation of the Strip' during private conversations, RT news reported. It marks a significant shift in tone as the Israeli government prepares to discuss the future of the campaign in Gaza. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION2:55 NETANYAHU TO SEIZE GAZA DESPITE IDF'S OBJECTION?4:55 ISRAELI CABINET DIVIDED OVER NETANYAHU'S GAZA PLAN?6:10 HOW HAS HAMAS, PA REACTED TO NETANYAHU'S PLAN?

Supported by Brics, like-minded allies: Russia amid Trump's tariff threats

Russia on Monday (local time) said the country is supported by a vast number of partners, like-minded states, and allies amid tariff wars or sanction threats by US President Donald Trump. Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made these remarks in response to a media question regarding the tightening of tariffs by the Trump administration towards the countries of the Global South. Zakharova noted, "Sanctions and restrictions have, unfortunately, become a defining feature of the current historical period, impacting countries across the globe." She further added that Washington is unable to accept the erosion of its dominance in an emerging multipolar international order and is continuing to pursue a neocolonial agenda, employing politically motivated economic pressure against those who choose an independent course on the international stage. Remarks from Russia's foreign ministry come days after Trump announced sweeping new tariff rates on dozens of countries, including India. On August 1, Trump imposed a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods, adding that the latter would also have to pay a penalty for its continued trade with Russia amid Moscow's ongoing war with Kyiv, which has now entered the fourth year. Zakharova also added, "Such actions by the United States represent a direct infringement on the sovereignty of other nations and an attempt to interfere in their internal affairs. Beyond these concerns, this policy risks slowing global economic growth, disrupting supply chains, and deepening the fragmentation of the international economic system." Russia exits the INF Treaty with the US Russia also announced its exit from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with America. Russia's foreign ministry stated that it believes that the conditions required to maintain the INF Treaty have "disappeared." The exit from the treaty came days after Trump ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines to "be positioned in the appropriate regions" near Russia. Trump's order to deploy the nuclear submarines came after former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev accused Trump of playing a "game of ultimatums" with Moscow. US-India trade ties strained Amid the ongoing global tensions, the US has also accused India of its continuous trade with Russia. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "Remember, while India is our friend, we have, over the years, done relatively little business with them because their Tariffs are far too high, among the highest in the World, and they have the most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary Trade Barriers of any Country. Also, they have always bought a vast majority of their military equipment from Russia, and are Russia's largest buyer of ENERGY, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to STOP THE KILLING IN UKRAINE — ALL THINGS NOT GOOD! INDIA WILL THEREFORE BE PAYING A TARIFF OF 25%, PLUS A PENALTY FOR THE ABOVE, STARTING ON AUGUST FIRST." In a separate post, he doubled down on both India and Russia and said, "I don't care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care. We have done very little business with India; their Tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world." India counters Trump's claims The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticised Trump's "dead economy" remark, reminding the US that when India started importing oil from Russia at the outbreak of the conflict, Washington encouraged such trade. Calling Trump's statements "unjustified and unreasonable', India defended its oil imports from Russia, saying they were driven by national necessity and were far smaller in scale compared to the West's energy purchases.
