SINGAPORE – Ahead of his evening performance on June 25 at The Star Theatre, American R&B star Jason Derulo went on a local food hunt at Lau Pa Sat hawker centre.
The 35-year-old Want To Want Me singer tried a variety of dishes, from chicken rice, chilli crab sauce lala clams and rojak to desserts like ice kacang.
He was joined by 27-year-old local content creator Denise Teo, who goes by supercatkei online.
Derulo said of ice kacang: 'It doesn't look like it's going to be creamy, but it's very creamy. A lot of flavours going on. I love mango. I'm going to give this a nine out of 10.'
The singer then proceeded to sample chicken rice. He said: 'Yeah, that's it. I could eat this everyday. A 10 out of 10.'
Rojak, however, was not to his liking. 'The sauce looks nice. Peanutty. I don't love peanut with my dinner, so it's not really my vibe. I'm gonna have to give that a four.'
The video ended with the You DJ, I'll Drive singer trying lala. 'This is way better than it looks. This is an eight out of 10.'
Derulo is currently on his Nu King World Tour, which stops in Ho Chi Minh City on June 28. The Florida native made a name for himself on TikTok during the pandemic by taking part in viral challenges and more. He currently has 66.1 million followers on the video platform.

Taiwan's Jam Hsiao to perform in Singapore in October, will sing for three hours
Jam Hsiao last held a concert here in 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. PHOTO: ST FILE Taiwan's Jam Hsiao to perform in Singapore in October, will sing for three hours Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao will be staging a concert in Singapore in October. The show's confirmation came from the 38-year-old's lips, when he attended the 35th anniversary celebration of health and wellness company Best World Lifestyle as a special guest. During the June 26 event at Singapore Expo, the star took the stage. He sang rock number Princess (2009) while holding a yellow microphone and dressed in a grey get-up and black tie. Local concert promoters Live Nation Singapore and One Production posted a video of the performance to their Instagram pages on June 28. In it, Hsiao addressed the crowd and said: 'I will be coming to Singapore to hold a concert (in October). Hope to see you all there. We will sing for about three hours then, okay?' Details such as the date and location are not yet available. He last held a concert here in 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and also headlined the Sundown Festival in 2023 at Pasir Panjang Power Station. While the Golden Melody Award winner appeared cheerful onstage, he recently had to deal with the death of one of his dogs. Gabi was hospitalised in Taipei due to health conditions a few days before the singer had to leave for Shenzhen to hold a concert on June 21. In a post on June 24, the singer said he and his wife and manager, Summer Lin, had stayed with the dog for a while before they left . When they arrived in Shenzhen, things in Taipei seemed to be under control. However, before the final rehearsal for the Shenzhen show, they received the news that Gabi had died. Hsiao wrote: 'Summer and I cried loudly in the lounge for a long time. I almost collapsed on the day of the performance, and still shed tears during the final curtain call.' On June 22, he took the earliest flight back to Taipei to deal with the dog's funeral. He said: 'Our whole family needs time... Because I have to let you know, she is my child. 'May Gabi be happy and joyful in heaven, away from illness.' Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

Beyonce pauses concert after car prop mishap left her dangling over crowds
Beyonce performs at her concert in Houston on June 28. PHOTO: PARKWOOD/INSTAGRAM A car prop in which Beyonce sang high above the crowds suddenly tilted sharply to one side at her concert in Houston on June 28. PHOTO: PARKWOOD/INSTAGRAM NEW YORK - American superstar singer Beyonce gave thousands of fans a scare during a concert in Houston on June 28, as a car prop in which she sang high above the crowds suddenly tilted sharply to one side in an apparent malfunction. The moment, which was caught on video, showed Beyonce wearing a white cowboy hat with an American flag by her side performing her song, 16 Carriages (2024), from the back of a red convertible when it slanted in the air over the crowds. 'Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop,' Beyonce calmly announced as she paused the performance over the roaring crowd, which called for her to be brought down. The car and Beyonce were harnessed to cables and she could be seen gripping one as the vehicle continued to dangle over concertgoers, who held up their illuminated smartphones like candles. Beyonce, 43, was slowly lowered to safety, much to the joy and relief of her fans who cheered her. 'OMG, she scared me,'' one fan shared in a video. In another clip when she was back onstage, Beyonce told the crowd, 'If ever I fall, I know y'all would catch me.' It was not clear what led to the mishap. Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonce's management company, said in an Instagram post that 'a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyonce uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt'. The company said: 'She was quickly lowered and no one was injured.' A representative for NRG Stadium, where the concert took place, did not give further details. In a compilation of images from the show, the company also included one of Beyonce performing from the dangling prop. The concert, in her hometown, was the first of her two shows at NRG Stadium last weekend. The concerts are part of her international Cowboy Carter Tour, which opened in April in Los Angeles, to support her 2024 album, Cowboy Carter, which won Album of the Year and Best Country Album at the Grammys in 2025. Emma Stone enchants with her grown out pixie crop
We've seen the beauty realm evolve in a multitude of ways over the past decade. Long gone are the days when celebrity beauty ops would be dedicated solely to the red carpet with techniques used often obscured from the public eye. We've fast moved on to an aspirational age of social media: how-to tutorials by the professional artists themselves, established content creators sharing their own cosmetic hacks and even full-face routines by some of the biggest A-listers. And we've all emerged the better for it. It's undeniable—the likes of Instagram and TikTok have given us all a space for unabashed self-expression. And for some, an artfully made-up mien or a customised change of talons are the perfect canvases to do so. Pop culture has had significant influence in the sphere. Experimentation is abound, with novice creators and popular personalities alike attempting to ace a make-up look that is all the rage or share a thematic one-off look for others to recreate. Then begs the question: how do we sieve out the best of all? Make-up trends surely begin somewhere, and learning from our seasoned celebrities is never a bad place to start if you're feeling overwhelmed. Vogue Singapore might be of help to you on that front—with our monthly curation of captivating beauty moments, courtesy of our favourite faces from Hollywood, the K-pop scene and more, just for that fresh jazz of inspiration. This month, June heralded the start of the northern summer—and there's plenty of pointers to heed for a seasonal beauty refresh. Celebrities like Sofia Richie Grainge and Somi make stunning cases for the chic bob haircut, while Emma Stone's grown out pixie crop is as alluring as it was when she debuted it. Conversely, on the beauty front, Jodie Comer and Nara Smith opted for romantic shades of berry pink and dusty rose for their Mediterranean make-up looks. For more on these looks, scroll down to see the month's celebrity beauty highlights: @ninapark 1 / 14 Emma Stone The allure of Emma's angelic pixie crop is only enhanced by Nina Park's make-up artistry. Pairing prettily with her tousled strands, a classic jet-black eyeliner and mascara combination adds a touch of definition to her warm-toned base. Getty 2 / 14 Jenna Ortega As the second season of Wednesday draws closer, Jenna Ortega looked every part the gothic glamour girl at Netflix's Tudum event. Her hair stylist Cesar Ramirez '[drew] inspiration from vintage hairstyles [in] homage to iconic Hollywood' while creating this defined-curl hair look. @sofiagrainge 3 / 14 Sofia Richie Grainge The razor-sharp bob remains an eternally chic crop. Just ask Sofia Richie Grainge, who debuted her own 'French bob' at the hands of hair stylist George Curran while on holiday in the South of France. @somsomi0309 4 / 14 Somi Another star making the case for the classy chop is Somi. Poised to make a comeback with her new song Extra next month, she shows off her own shortened locks in a promotional still. @simoneashley 5 / 14 Simone Ashley The picture of grace in Barcelona, Simone pairs her polka-dotted ensemble with a ballerina bun and cheekbones sculpted in deep cherry. @sabrinacarpenter 6 / 14 Sabrina Carpenter Her upcoming album Man's Best Friend has been a hot topic in pop culture this month. But we think Sabrina's sweet curls, pictured here on the set of her Manchild music video, are also deserving of recognition. @ninapark 7 / 14 Mia Goth Trust celebrity make-up artist Nina Park to serve up a bombshell-worthy beauty look. On Mia Goth, a winged smokey eye, Old Hollywood waves and a dusty pink pout more than fulfil this criteria. @naraaziza 8 / 14 Nara Smith A pregnant Nara Smith certainly radiates a certain glow while holidaying on the Amalfi Coast. A berry-tinged base from flushed cheeks to glossy lips seals the deal. @aespa_official 9 / 14 Aespa's Winter An Aespa comeback being nigh is always a signifier of experimental beauty looks to take note of. This time around, our favourite is these tight curls seen on Winter. Talk about volume up. @katseyeworld 10 / 14 Katseye's Manon Feeling blue has never looked better. Manon of Katseye co-ordinates her knitwear with some subtly placed, technicolour eye accoutrements. @tatemcrae 11 / 14 Tate McRae Whilst on tour, Tate McRae treats us to a close-up look at her glamorous beauty details—hyper-dramatic lashes, iridescent eyelids and a classic white manicure radiate the songstress' look-at-me energy. @jin_a_nana 12 / 14 Nana How to pull off a perfectly edgy beauty look for the Valentino fashion show? If you're Nana, you'll do so with wet-look locks, an insouciantly tightlined gaze, and the Valentino Puffer Gloss in tow. @jodiemcomer 13 / 14 Jodie Comer We've been loving taking in the soft yet impactful make-up seen on Jodie Comer whilst she does press for 28 Years Later. Seen here in Paris, make-up artist Naoko Sofia Patrizia Scintu created her classic beauty base, whilst hair stylist Christian Wood tended to her wavy tresses. @konichan7 14 / 14 Nana Komatsu For a Chanel event, Nana matches her vampy fit to tousled hair and lashings of jet-black liner to make an arresting impression.
