Speaking in a half-yearly media briefing, however, Faury defended the company's target of raising deliveries by 7% to 820 jets for 2025 as a whole, which he said was supported by an agreement with the engine makers to secure enough deliveries.
He also said Airbus was progressing towards the planned opening of a second assembly line in China at end-2025 and, on defence, pledged to stay onboard a Franco-German-Spanish fighter project despite tensions with partner Dassault Aviation (AM.PA), opens new tab.

Rimac Reveals Bugatti Tourbillon And Nevera Secrets As Testing Ramps Up
Mate Rimac Reveals Bugatti & Rimac Secrets The Bugatti Tourbillon is deep into its development and testing phases, with numerous prototypes being tested in various conditions around the world. As it draws nearer, Top Gear got the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming hypercar from Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac, who gave the publication a tour of the massive facility where Tourbillon prototypes are being built (the production cars will be made in Molsheim, of course) and Neveras are prepared for their customers. Along with recapping and elaborating on many of the Tourbillon's neat innovations and design elements, Mr. Rimac also revealed some interesting details that would not be found in a press release, including the fact that the Nevera shares only a single part with another vehicle and that the electric hypercar almost formed the basis of the Tourbillon. How The Rimac-Based Bugatti Would Have Come To Life Source: Bradley Iger/Autoblog Mate explains that before he was directly involved with Bugatti, initial ideas included using most of the Nevera to form the basis of a new hybrid hypercar. Rimac imagined using the entire front half of the car, carrying over important elements like the dual electric motors and the steering system, cooling components, brakes, and crash structure. The battery of the Nevera would also have been retained, and then aft of the passenger compartment, a V16 would have been mated to the package. This was passed on for several reasons, but the simplest way to describe why this simpler route was not taken is with the word compromise. Not only would the dynamics of the Bugatti have been jeopardized, but the value of the brand would have been diminished, too. As Rimac succinctly said when referring to innovations like the speaker-free audio system in the cabin: 'If we [Bugatti] don't do it, who will?' In other words, Bugatti exists to set standards, not follow trends or take shortcuts, and although collaboration is okay – see the Tourbillon's Rimac-designed-and-made battery and Czinger/Divergent-sourced 3D-printed suspension – everything on a Bugatti must still be specific to the bespoke. Audi R8 Parts In A World-Beating Hypercar In the video embedded at the bottom of this article, TG's Oliie Kew notes, while looking at a naked Rimac Nevera R monocoque, that every component bears a Rimac stamp. Mate proudly says that the 'only component' shared with another car is the HVAC box from an Audi R8, and even that has been modified. Doing everything in-house must be expensive, and it is – Mate says that the Nevera project cost the team over €150 million, or around $173 million. Naturally, the conversation gravitated towards the disappointing sales figures of the hypercar, and although Mate concedes that the Nevera didn't sell out of all 150 units, he calls it 'the most successful electric sports car,' saying the company has 'sold most of them,' though an exact figure was not revealed. According to Bloomberg, Rimac has sold 50 cars as of July 2025. By providing your email address, you agree that it may be used pursuant to Arena Group's Privacy Policy. Bugatti Tourbillon Technology Coming To Everyday Cars Source: Bugatti During the tour, Mate often noted that battery packs and other components are being developed and produced for automakers that do not always wish to be named, and one example of that is highlighted around the half-hour mark, when Mate reveals that the front electric powertrain of the Tourbillon, which was developed specifically for the hypercar, has been repurposed as a rear-mounted electric motor for an unnamed upcoming SUV and sedan pairing. By developing the tech for hypercars first, the most costly research & development processes are already paid for, making the large-scale democratization of high-density energy storage and ultra-efficient motors cost-effective. In summary, the Nevera may have been a commercial failure in some ways, but it formed the foundation of the Rimac Technologies design and manufacturing juggernaut, served as a cautionary tale for Bugatti and others, and reset the bar for hypercar performance. Man United are 'prepared to meet £61m valuation' of Barcelona star in sensational swoop - as Red Devils wait for Benjamin Sesko's decision on potential move
Manchester United are reportedly ready to fork out £61million to bring in Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. The Catalan giants are open to offers for a number of their players this summer as they try to generate funds in order to register new signings Marcus Rashford and goalkeeper Joan Garcia in their squad. It's thought that Fermin is one of the players at risk of being sold, with manager Hansi Flick no longer reliant on the 22-year-old in midfield. The Spaniard, who made 28 appearances in LaLiga last season, is indeed likely to see his game-time slashed this term as Raphinha moves inside to accommodate Rashford on the left-wing. But it's thought that Man United are interested in offering Fermin an exit route, with Ruben Amorim and club officials ready to pay Barca's £61m asking price, according to Catalan newspaper Sport. The Red Devils will however likely face stiff competition for his signature, after Chelsea, Arsenal and a number of clubs in the Saudi Pro League also expressed an interest. Any deal for Fermin is expected to take place in 'the coming weeks' with the new seasons of both LaLiga and the Premier League now just around a corner. United's priority ahead of their first league game against Arsenal on August 16 is thought to be the acquisition of a striker. After missing out on prime targets Liam Delap and later Viktor Gyokeres, the Red Devils turned their attention to Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko. They this week however focused their efforts on RB Leipzig's Sesko, after reportedly being priced out of a move for their other option, the Aston Villa forward. United however are embroiled in a two-horse race for the Slovenian's signature with Newcastle, who are believed to have submitted their first bid for the striker on Friday. Sesko is currently weighing up his options, according to reports, and is yet to decide whether he favours a move to Old Trafford or further north to St James' Park. Ruben Amorim's maiden summer at the helm has so far seen United acquire Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo in two deals totalling almost £140million. It's hoped the Premier League-proven wingers can strengthen a United frontline which has been devoid of goals, and confidence, in recent seasons. Rasmus Hojlund, who has actually somewhat impressed this pre-season, could leave the club this summer if Sesko comes through the door. It's thought RB Leipzig are showing a strong interest in securing his services, with the idea of Hojlund being used in a swap deal a genuine possibility. Elsewhere, Amorim is said to be keen to improve his squad in both midfield and in-goal. While no targets have been identified in the centre of the park, club officials reportedly enquired about the possibility of bringing Emi Martinez to Old Trafford earlier in the window. Aston Villa however turned down the proposal.

Benjamin Sesko: Newcastle bid £70m for Manchester United target
Newcastle United have submitted a £70million offer to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Sesko, 22, is also a target for Manchester United this summer, but Newcastle have made the first concrete move for the Slovenia striker. Their offer is worth €75million, with potential add-ons taking it to €80million (about £70million), which matches the lower end of Leipzig's valuation of the player. He was not in the squad for the German club's pre-season friendly against Atalanta on Saturday. Newcastle's pursuit of Sesko comes amid uncertainty over the future of Alexander Isak, their star striker. Liverpool offered £110million for Isak on Friday but that was rejected and, as things stand, they are not expected to come forward with an improved bid. 'It is difficult because you don't know what is going to happen,' Eddie Howe, the Newcastle manager, said from the club's pre-season tour in the Far East. 'There can be all sorts of talk and hypothetical situations, but then you are dealing with reality. 'The reality is we had the first bid from Liverpool yesterday. I believe that was turned down, from this point onwards let's see what happens. I have no idea to try to predict that. I really don't know what happens next. From our perspective, we still support Alex in every way, and my wish is that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again.' Asked if he knew Isak had been training alone at his former club, Real Sociedad, in Spain this week, Howe said: 'I know where is now — through the media. So I think from that perspective, it is difficult to go into any type of detail.' Isak is expected back in Newcastle this weekend. Manchester United may yet match Newcastle's offer, as Sesko is their priority this month, and the Old Trafford club will not have to wait to make further sales before completing a deal for a new striker despite a tight financial situation. Sales would no doubt help the club, but sources have indicated that despite things being tight another incoming player is not dependent on more exits. United's figures have been helped by Marcus Rashford's loan move to Barcelona, which moved his £350,000-a-week wages off the books, and the club have worked to reduce the wage bill this year with loan exits in the second half of last season. They have also benefited from some small sell-on fees for Anthony Elanga, Álvaro Carreras and Maxi Oyedele, which total about £15million. Nearly £130million has been spent on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but the structure of those deals, to be paid in instalments, means there is still room in the budget to make more signings, however it will be tight and United are adamant they are not in a position to be driven up on prices. Alejandro Garnacho is another possible source of profit, with Chelsea retaining an interest in the winger, while Saudi clubs are also keen on Tyrell Malacia and United remain hopeful of selling Antony and Jadon Sancho before the window closes. Those four players are the remaining members of the 'bomb squad' who were left behind as United travelled to America for their pre-season tour. There are no plans to reintegrate them once the group returns to Manchester on Monday. Amorim does not plan to reintegrate Garnacho into his squad once they return from the pre-season tour in the US OLI SCARFF / AFP It is understood they will still be able to use all of the facilities at Carrington, including the first-team dressing room, and there are no plans to banish them out of the first-team building. However, they will remain on different schedules to Amorim's group as they prepare for their opening Premier League game against Arsenal.
