CM will hold meeting on MIDC issues in Pimpri Chinchwad, says minister Misal
Responding to concerns raised by BJP MLA Mahesh Landge in the ongoing assembly session, Misal admitted to problems in MIDC zones and said a joint meeting would be held soon at the chief minister's office in Mumbai. She said officials concerned from different government departments and representatives from industrial associations would be invited for this meeting.
Landge highlighted that there were a total of 3,470 industrial units in Pimpri Chinchwad.
They faced persistent infrastructure issues such as poor roads, drainage problems and unreliable power supply despite paying around Rs320 crore annually in taxes to the municipal corporation, he said.

He said, "There is no sewage line in MIDC areas and the condition of several roads is very poor. The road connecting Indrayani Chowk and Bhosari MIDC police station is filled with potholes."
Belsare said the industrialists had been demanding a dedicated effluent treatment plant (ETP), but there had been no progress on this matter despite meetings with officials of PCMC, MIDC and the industries minister.
The industrial units of Pimpri Chinchwad had been demanding the authorities set up a plant to process hazardous waste because they had to transport it to Ranjangaon MIDC, almost 60km away.
Landge said industrialists in Chakan MIDC faced similar issues. They had even threatened to launch a protest against the poor condition of roads and heavy traffic congestion.
Misal admitted to similar infrastructure issues in Nashik MIDC areas.
She said out of a 68km road network in Satpur and Ambad MIDC areas of Nashik, the administration had constructed 15km of new roads. The minister said the work on the remaining ones had been planned. She said the municipal corporation of Nashik had been directed to start work on the new drainage line to prevent flooding in the area.
Responding to Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh's demand for a standard operating procedure (SOP) to address multi-agency issues in MIDC areas across Maharashtra, Misal assured the House that appropriate action would be taken on the matter.

Tejasvi Surya reveals Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy flew economy, carried his own luggage; post goes viral
Infosys co-founder and billionaire N R Narayana Murthy, 78, known for his grounded lifestyle, is making headlines again after being appreciated by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya. In a heartwarming post on X, Surya shared that during their journey from Mumbai to Bengaluru on a low-cost domestic airline, Murthy not only travelled in economy but also carried his own luggage and used the common washroom at the airport, avoiding the VIP lounge. Surya called their two-hour conversation during the flight, spanning artificial intelligence, manufacturing, Indian urban development, youth upskilling, ethics, and leadership, 'deeply inspiring'. 'Had an inspiring conversation with the legendary NRN today on the way back to Bengaluru from Mumbai. NRN pioneered the Indian IT services sector, turning it into a global powerhouse. He created wealth for literally lakhs of middle class families through Infosys. In a response to ANI editor Smita Prakash—who praised Murthy for choosing a commercial flight over a private jet despite his $5 billion net worth—Surya added more context,' Surya wrote on X. 'From AI to manufacturing, state of our cities to upskilling our youth to ethics and leadership – it was a 2 hour masterclass learning from him. I humorously quipped at the end of our conversation that I'll strive to meet his 70-hour-a-week target – to which he laughed and said, 'The only person I know who probably works 100 hours a week is Prime Minister Modi!'' he added. 'Absolutely true. NRN indeed is a great entrepreneur. And the long working hours concept depends on the individual and not the organisation to drive. If you are committed to and want to go the extra mile, achieve great heights then time does not matter. So let's stop counting hrs!' another user commented.

Denying justice to family of Dalit youth murdered in Hisar shows ugly face of BJP-RSS's 'Manuwadi' system: Rahul
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha claimed that Ganesh's family alleges that he was killed by police, and even after nine days, no action has been taken. When the family sought justice, they were the ones harassed instead, he also alleged. "This is not an isolated incident - in the last 11 years, atrocities against Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities have skyrocketed unchecked. Why? Because the BJP in power has given free rein to violence cloaked in discrimination," the former Congress chief alleged. Gandhi further said the Narendra Modi government has not only remained silent on these atrocities but has also weakened constitutional institutions, turning the police and administration into "weapons" for such crimes and "shields" for the perpetrators of such crimes. "In Modi's era, being a Dalit, being poor, being marginalized - has become akin to a crime," he claimed. "Ganesh Valmiki's death is not just the death of an individual - it is the murder of the Constitution, the murder of Baba Saheb's dreams," Gandhi also said. "I stand firmly with the victim's family. This is not just one family's fight for justice; it is a battle for social justice and the soul of India. Immediate and strict action against the guilty will be the minimum justice required," the Congress leader said.

Why are 10 Senate Republicans pushing back against Trump's $7 billion freeze on school funding?
Republican senators oppose Trump's freeze of $7B in US education funding. (AI Image) Ten Senate Republicans have formally objected to the Trump administration's decision to withhold approximately $7 billion in federal education funding, stating that the move contradicts President Donald Trump's stated commitment to return control of schools to state and local governments. In a letter sent to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought, the lawmakers described the funding freeze as harmful to students, families, and local economies. The funding, previously approved by Congress and signed into law by President Trump, supports after-school programmes, teacher training, migrant education, and other key initiatives, as reported by Politico. Republicans cite contradiction with state control agenda The letter was led by Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and co-signed by Republican Senators John Boozman (Arkansas), Katie Britt (Alabama), Susan Collins (Maine), Deb Fischer (Nebraska), John Hoeven (North Dakota), Jim Justice (West Virginia), Mitch McConnell (Kentucky), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), and Mike Rounds (South Dakota), according to Politico. "Withholding these funds will harm students, families, and local economies," the senators wrote, adding that the decision is "contrary to President Trump's goal of returning K-12 education to the states," as quoted by Politico. OMB reviewing funds over programme content The OMB has confirmed that the education grants are under review, citing alignment with the broader goals of scrutinising federal spending on programmes related to immigration and LGBTQ+ issues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like SRM Online MBA – Empowering Future Leaders SRM Online Enquire Now Undo According to Politico, OMB officials have claimed that some of the funds have been used to "subsidise a radical leftwing agenda." Specific allegations include claims that New York public schools used federal money for students who are immigrants or English language learners "to promote illegal immigrant advocacy organisations." Additionally, the administration stated that in Washington state, funds were used "to direct illegal immigrants towards scholarships intended for American students," and that some grants were used for a seminar on "queer resistance in the arts," as reported by Politico. No detailed evidence was provided by the administration in support of these claims. Senators reject claims of misuse In their letter, the 10 Republican senators disputed the administration's assertions. "We share your concern about taxpayer money going to fund radical left-wing programmes. However, we do not believe that is happening with these funds," the senators wrote, as quoted by Politico. They further stated that the grants in question support "programmes that enjoy longstanding, bipartisan support like after-school and summer programmes that provide learning and enrichment opportunities for school-aged children which also enables their parents to work and contribute to local economies." Future of funds uncertain amid rescission threat The Trump administration informed lawmakers last month that the grant distribution would be paused until the review is completed. As reported by Politico, OMB Director Vought indicated that the funds could be targeted in a future rescissions package—an action that would legally reclaim money already authorised by Congress. Education Secretary Linda McMahon and President Trump have also proposed reductions to some of these programmes in the upcoming federal budget proposal, according to Politico. Republican districts to face larger funding losses According to estimates from New America, a progressive policy think tank cited by Politico, school districts represented by Republican members of Congress could lose 1.6 times more funding per pupil than districts represented by Democrats. This disparity has added to concerns among Republican senators whose constituencies rely heavily on these federal resources. The delay in funding distribution, which began on July 1, is contributing to growing uncertainty in school districts that depend on these grants to sustain staffing and programme operations, Politico reported.
