Lahore Qalandars' Viral PSL Win Celebration Has An Unexpected Indian Twist

NDTV30-05-2025
When the Lahore Qalandars lifted the Pakistan Super League (PSL) trophy, they knew they had made history. But it wasn't just the victory that had them jumping with joy - it was the unexpected reward that followed: Shiny new iPhones handed out to the team, including a 24-karat gold-plated iPhone 16 Pro for captain Shaheen Shah Afridi. The locker room erupted in celebration, with star pacer Haris Rauf joking, "No brother, this is unfair!" in response to Shaheen's exclusive prize.

The video, now viral across Twitter and Instagram, showcases a moment of pure sporting joy - but behind the glittering devices lies a story that connects straight to India's booming manufacturing landscape.
Apple has quietly but significantly shifted a large chunk of its production operations to India over the past few years. The iPhone 16 series - including the luxury Pro models - are now being manufactured at Foxconn and Tata-run plants in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, as part of Apple's broader strategy to diversify beyond China.
So yes, it's entirely possible (and probable) that the devices sparking joy in a Pakistani dressing room were built in India.
It's a symbolic twist in the tale - one where India, often locked in regional sporting rivalries, is now becoming a key global tech supplier, even behind the scenes of its neighbour's cricketing celebrations.
What was once purely a US-China manufacturing story has taken a distinct South Asian turn, with India quietly powering the gadgets that players across borders now celebrate.

I ditched my old watch for the HUAWEI Fit 4 Pro and my friends thought it was an Apple Watch

The first time the HUAWEI Watch FIT 4 Pro was taken out of the box, it looked every bit like an Apple Watch. Friends noticed too, the green strap, the rectangular face, and the subtle shine of titanium at the edges all give off serious Apple energy. It is rare to find an Android smartwatch that nails this kind of look while keeping things functional, at the least. What surprised most was not just how great it looks but how it feels. At just over 30 grams, the watch felt like nothing on the wrist, even after hours of use. The band is soft and flexible, hugs the wrist just right, and is easy to swap out. Walking through the day, the sapphire glass catches the light, always clear and never scratched, something a plastic-screened tracker could never pull off. I ditched my old watch for the HUAWEI Fit 4 Pro and my friends thought it was an Apple Watch The titanium alloy bezel adds a quiet confidence, not flashy, but sturdy enough that if banged against a desk or doorframe rushing to catch a call (which happened twice in one day), it barely leaves a mark. HUAWEI Watch Fit 4 Pro Review One early morning, waking up to a measly 17% battery was a reminder. Putting the watch on the charger and making tea was enough time to get it to 100%. After four days with all sensors running nonstop, even sleep tracking active every night, the battery was still at 53%. That is exceptional, far outlasting most mainstream smartwatches under demanding conditions, validating HUAWEI's claim of up to 10 days for light users or seven days with typical use and always-on display off. Quick charging means just 10 minutes on the wireless SuperCharger delivers a full day's battery, brilliant for hectic mornings. Consistent stamina means heavy users don't worry about running out of power mid-day. The display is bright, really bright. Taking a call on the terrace under harsh sunlight posed no trouble. The 1.82-inch screen with sapphire crystal cover is always clear. The always-on setting pulls battery life down a bit, but glancing at the time was effortless and lag-free. This watch goes way past the basics. It packs in over 100 workout modes, backed by dual-band GPS and a built-in barometer for accurate environmental tracking. Trail runs were logged easily with accurate GPS. The barometer details elevation gains. If you enjoy swimming, the EN 13319 certification for free dives up to 40 metres is advanced for most users but reassuring. Wearing it through showers and splashes caused no concern - although I don't understand why someone would wear their watch in the shower everyday. Custom reminders for diving and a hover timer should help even in the pool. Workout analysis is also good. Ground contact time, running form, calories, and real-time heart rate broadcast to gym equipment come as bonuses. The Stay Fit food log encouraged better meal awareness and animated rings on the watch face kept motivation up before bed. Messages and calls arrived on the wrist without needing the phone while voice replies worked when hands were full. The remote shutter became a personal favourite for group selfies and watch faces offer everything from mood-based pet animations to minimal styles. Health insights extend beyond steps. Sleep phases, heart rate variability, menstrual cycles, mood, stress, ECG, and gentle reminders balance data depth with discretion. The platform is rich with info but understands when to stay quiet. Compatibility is best on Android for full depth. iOS users get basics but some advanced features like golf and navigation depend on phone and region. Navigation and voice cues make trail runs relaxed while the sapphire display resisted scratches even while tossed in a bag with keys and coins. Friends kept asking about it, sure it was an Apple Watch. Band swaps are simple with plenty of styles fitting easily. Third-party app selection is not as strong as Apple or Google's platforms. Some location-dependent features may need setup or be region-specific. Those are minor trade-offs compared to build quality and features. For an Android smartwatch that looks and feels as refined as an Apple Watch, the HUAWEI Watch FIT 4 Pro is the best bet - especially at the cost of ₹ 20,999. Sapphire glass and titanium make it durable without sacrificing beauty. The featherlight fit and thoughtful features improve daily life. It solves problems quietly yet effectively. For Android users who want style and comfort without compromise, this watch is a winner.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to Mac: Here's everything you need to know

CD Projekt Red is all set to launch Cyberpunk 2077 on Apple devices. Set in the year 2077, the game will be available on the Mac App store, Steam, Epic Games Store and Optimised for Apple silicon, the sci-fi RPG will run on a range of Macs, from the earliest M1 machines to the latest M4 chip. However, there's a catch: base models with only 8GB of unified memory (such as entry-level M1 and M2 Macs) won't be compatible. You'll need at least 16GB of RAM for a smooth experience. According to Apple's 2024 reveal video for M4-powered MacBook Pros, the game is expected to be available for those machines in early 2026. There's still no detailed performance data from Apple or CD Projekt Red on how the game will run across different Mac configurations. But if you have an Apple XDR display or another HDR monitor, you can expect full HDR support. The Mac version will also feature spatial audio and head-tracking for AirPods users. More powerful Apple silicon chips will fully support advanced features like path tracing—a cinematic-grade ray tracing mode that dramatically improves lighting, reflections, and ambient occlusion. CD Projekt Red has also introduced graphics presets optimised for different Apple silicon models to ensure a smoother experience across the board. Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac will support AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) for upscaling and frame generation, helping the game run more fluidly even with demanding settings like path tracing enabled. Apple's own MetalFX upscaling tech will also be available, and the game will be compatible with the Magic Mouse and Trackpad. The Mac version will be the Ultimate Edition, bundling the base game, all post-launch updates, and the Phantom Liberty expansion, which adds a new district and storyline. Until now, many Mac users have relied on Apple's Proton-like Game Porting Toolkit to play Cyberpunk 2077. That toolkit translates Windows APIs and Intel x86 instructions to run on Apple silicon. However, the official release will be fully native to macOS and built on Apple's Metal graphics APIs, including Tile-Based Deferred Rendering (TBDR), allowing for far better performance and visual fidelity. The game's Mac debut will coincide with the launch of patch 2.3, which introduces new vehicles, an upgraded photo mode, and several quality-of-life improvements. Cross-progression will also be supported, letting players switch between platforms without losing their progress.
