BEAMS Expands 'The A' Line With Refined SS25 Collection
BEAMShas officially unveiled a full look at its co-lineThe ASpring/Summer 2025collection — an 'experimental project' focused on crafting elevated menswear essentials with a refined edge. Initially launched in March, this second release offers a more extensive lineup and a clearer vision of what's to come.
Envisioned as a redefinition of 'authenticity' for the modern era, the collection emphasizes muted, monochromatic palettes and expert craftsmanship. Key standout pieces include a gingham short-sleeve shirt detailed in light blue and navy, which adds subtle texture to a clean, minimalist silhouette.
Designed with a slightly boxy fit, many of the garments lend themselves well to layering, creating a sharp yet casual aesthetic. Army green cargo jorts bring in a streetwear flair, while other looks highlight tonal layering—like loosely cut black parachute pants that mimic a leather-like finish.
Blending comfort, functionality and luxe materials, The A caters to a specific aesthetic sensibility: one that values understated design, practical styling and high-end execution.
In a statement accompanying the launch, BEAMS outlined the vision behind its new line:
BEAMS takes new ACTION to tackle the challenges of fashion in the modern society. In collaboration with factories that support BEAMS and ARTISANS with the top-notch skills,we would like to make clothes that we really think are great with a sincere ATTITUDE.Based on the origin of BEAMS, the AUTHENTIC American casual style,we design garments that you ALWAYS can wear for a long time. Our clothes have to be wearable regardless of AGEand become something that is ARCHIVED for the future. As the ALTERNATIVE of the conventional ideas,we, BEAMS, propose the ADVANCED originality that focuses on the future.THE A is our experimental project that gives the ANSWER.

China Reacts to Trump's New BRICS Tariff Threat
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. China said BRICS does not seek confrontation or target any country after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened a new 10 percent tariff. Trump said in a July 6 post on Truth Social that the additional levy would hit any country "aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS," an economic group of developing countries. He said there would be no exceptions. It is formed of 11 countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran. "BRICS is an important platform for cooperation among emerging markets in developing countries," said Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for the Chinese foreign ministry, at her press briefing on July 7. "It advocates openness, inclusiveness, and willing cooperation. It is not a bloc for confrontation, nor does it target any country. "On the U.S. tariff hikes, China has made its position clear more than once. Trade wars and tariff wars have no winners, and protectionism leads nowhere." This is a breaking news story. Trump threatened additional tariffs for countries aligning with 'anti-American' BRICS policies
President Donald Trump has issued a new tariff threat. "Any Country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% Tariff," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Sunday night. "There will be no exceptions to this policy," he added. Trump's comments come amid a two-day BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro. The group of emerging nations includes key members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. On Sunday, the BRICS group issued a statement expressing "serious concerns about the rise of unilateral tariff and non-tariff measures which distort trade and are inconsistent with WTO rules." The group also condemned US and Israeli military strikes on Iran, a BRICS member. It called for negotiations to achieve a ceasefire and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. "We reiterate our grave concern about the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, with the resumption of continuous Israeli attacks against Gaza and obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid into the territory," the statement said. It's not the first time Trump has taken aim at BRICS. In December, he threatened a 100% tariff on countries pursuing alternatives to the US dollar. Economists said at the time that the move could backfire. Even so, BRICS nations have been exploring alternatives to the US dollar. De-dollarization discussions accelerated after sweeping sanctions against Russia over its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. On Sunday, the BRICS group said it would continue discussing a cross-border payments system among member states. Trump's threats of even more tariffs on countries aligning with BRICS come ahead of his administration's plans to send letters to trading partners informing them of new tariff rates on their imports to the US. Trump said in a separate post that the letters would be delivered starting at noon ET on Monday.
