Ranking every Big Ten football 2026 recruiting class by average player rating (July 6)
The class of 2026 recruiting rankings continue to finalize with each passing week. With the June official visit schedule now complete, most programs have the core of their class committed. Commitments over the coming months will slow to a trickle, those updates only mildly affecting the overall team rankings. Those rankings did receive a major shift earlier this week when Oregon added five-star interior offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho. Iheanacho is the Ducks' third five-star commitment in the class. His addition sent the Ducks' relatively small class of 14 commitments up near the nation's top 10. When the cycle concludes later this year, none should be surprised if Oregon approaches the top five. Notably, Oregon currently boasts the Big Ten's best average player rating (93.15). While different from 247Sports' national team rankings, which give significant weight to commit volume, average player rating is an important metric to use when comparing the conference's top-ranked groups. With that, here is Oregon, Wisconsin and every Big Ten recruiting class of 2026 ordered by average player rating, plus where each falls on 247Sports' current national team rankings. Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 63: a history of the number and who wore it best
The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we're at 63 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 63 and the players who wore it best. Current Steelers No. 63 wearer: N/A There is no current wearer of No. 63 on the Steelers roster — and for good reason, as there hasn't been one since the best to ever wear it in Pittsburgh retired. Last five Steelers to wear No. 63: Best No. 63 in Steelers history: C Dermontti Dawson Dermontti Dawson is the best Steeler to ever wear No. 63. Drafted by Pittsburgh with the 44th overall pick in the second round of the 1988 NFL Draft, Dawson had huge shoes to fill — those of Hall of Famer Mike Webster, who left Pittsburgh in 1989. From 1988 to 2000, Dawson started 181 games for the Steelers and was one of the most dominant offensive linemen of his era. He was named to seven Pro Bowls, six First-Team All-Pros, and even made the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. Dawson was also named to the Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team and the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor. He would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and is without a doubt the best Steeler to ever wear No. 63 — which is why the number is unofficially retired. Iowa women's basketball 2027 four-star recruit commits to IMG Academy
After two dominant seasons at Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Fla.), Iowa women's basketball's four-star 2027 small forward recruit Madison Mignery announced on Friday that she will be transferring to IMG Academy to further her blossoming development. In her sophomore campaign with Cardinal Mooney, Mignery averaged an impressive 16.0 points per game on 56% shooting from the floor, 36% from 3-point territory, and 77% from the free-throw line through 28 contests. The 6-foot-1 forward also captained the Cardinal Mooney team to a 24-9 record, helping guide the school to a 2025 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A state championship with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the title game against Bolles. The Sarasota, Florida, native is regarded as the No. 2 player in the Sunshine State per Prep Girls Hoops. The Hawkeyes extended Mignery an offer on May 29, which added Iowa to a growing list of offers, including Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, Florida, TCU, and Stanford. With the move to IMG, Mignery will compete against some of the top talent in the nation, which should help her improve her game as her recruitment furthers while staying relatively close to home in nearby Bradenton, Fla.
