Inside Prince Harry's hidden 'struggles' since quitting royals for marriage

Daily Mirrora day ago
A royal expert has claimed Prince Harry continues to face a 'struggle' five years after he and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, embarked on their new life in the US
It's been more than five years since Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, stunned Brits by stepping down as senior working members of the Royal Family.
However, an expert reckons the Duke of Sussex is still facing a "struggle" to find his place beyond the gilded gates of Buckingham Palace, especially in terms of 'trying to be a breadwinner' for his wife and children.

Things have inarguably been eventful in the Sussex household since the Duke and Duchess swapped rainy Balmoral retreats for celeb hangouts in sunny Montecito. But has this markedly different pace of life proven to be everything the prince hoped for?

In various snaps shared via Meghan's recently activated Instagram account, she and Harry appear to be enjoying an idyllic life in California with children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
But according to Royal historian Marlene Koenig, the father of two, who previously served as a soldier in Afghanistan, could be missing out on professional fulfilment.

Ms Koenig told US Weekly: "I'm not sure if Harry has regrets about leaving, as he is determined to build a new life in the US.
"But he hasn't been entirely successful, especially in terms of earning money for the family. That seems to have fallen on Meghan.'

The pair got candid in their bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they made it clear they were keen to strike out on their own. Further revelations followed in their 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan.
Harry, 40, went on to publish his ghostwritten memoir Spare, which burst onto bestseller lists at the start of 2023. The Invictus Games founder also went on to take a position with tech startup BetterUp.
Meanwhile, Meghan, 43, showed off her culinary skills in a lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, in addition to her various podcasting pursuits, including the star-studded Confessions Of A Female Founder.

The former actress, who rose to fame playing Rachel Zane on Suits, has also shown entrepreneurial zeal through her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which stocks products such as raspberry spread and herbal teas.
In Ms Koenig's view, the role of "breadwinner" has fallen on the shoulders of business-savvy Meghan, with the fifth in line to the throne now playing a "supporting role".

Ms Koenig reflected: "He was always expected to play a supportive but not a supporting role. He may be comfortable in his California home with his wife and two adorable children, but what he hasn't found yet is the comfort of a success outside at home.'
With this in mind, Ms Koenig compared Harry's situation with that of his elder brother, Prince William, now the Prince of Wales and King in Waiting.
She argued: "One brother has found his role and knows what he has to do to prepare for his future. The other brother has yet to find the right balance for a successful career away from what he was raised to be.'

16 And Pregnant star Whitney Purvis on suicide watch while in jail over overdose death she's charged for

MTV star Whitney Purvis, who appeared on the reality show 16 And Pregnant, is on suicide watch as she is in prison over a fatal February 17 drug overdose she was formally charged with on Monday. The 33-year-old reality star is being monitored in the Georgia jail where she is being held for involuntary manslaughter according to TMZ on Tuesday. Law enforcement sources for the publication claim that Purvis was medically designated and committed within the jail system after making suicidal comments. The insiders also allege that the reality star is also going through detox as she withdrawals from drug use. This news comes after it was revealed that she had penned an emotional memorial to the man who passed away from the drug overdose. On March 3, Purvis took to the site of the funeral home which handled arrangements for John Mark Harris, a 37-year-old chef who authorities said Purvis provided deadly drugs to that led to his tragic end. 'John mark, I hate that I found out what happened today and missed your funeral,' Purvis wrote on the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home site. 'I wish I could've found out sooner and attended your celebration of life.' The MTV star posted the message more than three months before she was arrested Monday in Floyd County, Georgia in connection with with involuntary manslaughter and distribution of a controlled substance, among other felony counts, TMZ reported Monday. Purvis 'distributed a substance presented as "Tranq," commonly known as Xylazine and Fentanyl, to the victim, which directly contributed in the victim's death due to a toxic overdose,' law enforcement officials said in an arrest affidavit reviewed by People. It's been an awful year for Purvis, who would later pen an emotional memorial for her son Weston following his death at the age of 16 on June 2; Daily Mail has reached out to Purvis via Instagram for further comment on this story. Purvis thanked her late confidante 'for being such a great friend to me and always making me feel beautiful and cared for.' Purvis said that her late friend had been a dear one, as they grew close over their passion for cooking: 'We bonded over being chefs, our love of cooking and our struggle.' Harris had been employed as a chef at Barnsley Gardens, a popular North Georgia resort. She praised Harris for his candor and intelligence in their interactions over the years. Purvis penned an emotional statement in memory of her late friend - whose death she was subsequently charged in 'I could tell you anything and you always knew what to say or give me your honest opinion and advice,' Purvis said. The MTV alum added 'You've came to my rescue on many occasions and saved me over the years. 'I am so very thankful for the times we had together.' Purvis - who's also charged with use of a communication device to commit a felony involving controlled substances - said that she was dealing with serious emotional trauma over the loss of her friend. 'My brain just can't process this happened,' she said. 'I don't want it to be true.' Purvis listed off a number of things she associated with Harris that she would miss in the wake of his passing. 'I'll miss waking up to your silly messages and pictures you'd send me,' she said. 'I'll miss marshal and lunchbox. I'll miss your amazing cooking. 'I'll miss snuggling on the couch watching tv with you. I'll miss sitting outside, smoking camel crush cigs w/ you how we talked about talked about life, gossiping and you telling me what movies/shows I need to watch next.' Purvis characterized her late friend as 'a truly good hearted, one of a kind man' who she would 'never forget.' Purvis, who has more than 17,500 followers on Instagram, wrapped up in saying: 'Rest in peace and my condolences to your family and friends. 'I pray they are able to find some kind of comfort during this tragic time. I love you forever, John Mark. Love, Whitney.' Whitney has been arrested a number of times before. In 2015 she landed in jail after allegedly attacking ex-boyfriend, and father of her two sons, Weston Gosa, with a broom handle Following the death of her son last month, Purvis spoke on social media about how she was understandably struggling in the wake of her child's unexpected passing. 'This is so hard to write,' Purvis said. 'My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just dont understand. 'Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. 'How do you go on in life after losing a child?' Purvis said she was 'in disbelief,' thinking that 'this cannot be happening' and that she didn't 'want it to be real.' She added of her late son: 'I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can't describe the pain I am feeling. 'God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can't go on without you.

How is Prime Video's Ballard linked to Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer?

Ballard is set to come out this week, delving into the complicated life of Detective Renee Ballard. Prime Video's Ballard has almost landed - but how is the drama connected to The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix? Set in Los Angeles, Ballard is a 10-part drama that sees former homicide detective Renee Ballard (played by Maggie Q) start heading up the cold cases division with help from her team of volunteers. ‌ As well as trying to solve some of the history's most complicated long-forgotten crimes, Ballard is trying to overcome her personal issues with some within the LAPD. ‌ So as Ballard premieres on Wednesday, July 9, on Prime Video, fans are curious to know how it ties in with a hit Netflix legal drama. How is Prime Video's Ballard linked to Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer? The Lincoln Lawyer, which revolves around the work of charming lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), is a much-loved drama on Netflix which returned for its third outing earlier this year. Fans are now eagerly waiting for its fourth series to debut, although a release date hasn't yet been confirmed. Ballard and The Lincoln Lawyer are set in the same universe as the series are both based on books written by author Michael Connelly. In fact, Ballard is a spin-off of Bosch: Legacy, another creation of Connelly's with Detective Ballard first introduced in the Harry Bosch series' grand finale earlier this year. ‌ Another key tie between the two series is that Bosch, portrayed by Titus Welliver, is Mickey Haller's half-brother. It has already been confirmed in Ballard's trailer that Welliver will be reprising his role as Bosch in the Prime Video drama but it is very unlikely that fans are going to be treated to a Lincoln Lawyer crossover. ‌ The Lincoln Lawyer has been airing on Netflix since its debut while Ballard will be coming out on Prime Video. So as the shows are made by completely different studios, these characters are not going to cross paths despite their indirect link via the books. But as Amazon Studios owns both Ballard and Bosch, this is why these series are able to be connected on the small screen. Ballard was able to help Bosch with one of the most difficult cases of his career at the end of Bosch: Legacy so is he going to be able to repay the favour in the spin-off Ballard?

It follows a row over an investigation by counter-terror police into rapper Mo Chara, who is accused of terrorism offences related to a Hezbollah flag he allegedly held up on stage. They apologised to fans following the TRNSMT decision, and in a bid to "try to make up for it", the band decided to put on a show at the O2 Academy. And ahead of their show, police and sniffer dogs were scouring their dressing room. A video which was shared on the band's Instagram shows an officer leading a dog around the room while members sit on some sofas. Another snap on the group's Facebook shows a van with a 'search dogs' sticker on the side. Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar are also performing in the city today, with Police Scotland "aiming to minimise disruption". Cops also stated that a "proportionate and considered policing plan" is currently in place during the gigs. Superintendent Paul Douglas said: "We are aware of a number of events and concerts due to take place in the Greater Glasgow area in the week beginning Monday July 7 2025. "A proportionate and considered policing plan is in place within the city and we are working with a number of stakeholders to ensure the safety of all those attending these events and where possible minimise disruption to the people of Glasgow." Crowds gather as Kneecap play Glasgow gig after TRNSMT axe Pictures from the venue earlier showed the group arriving and waving to fans, with member Móglaí Bap wearing a classic Celtic Bumblee away shirt. Meanwhile, Mo Chara greeted fans with a peace sign as security led the pair into the venue. Police were also standing by outside the O2 with pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered nearby.
