NBA half-time star Red Panda suffers wrist fracture, back for next season

Good news, basketball fans: Red Panda intends to be ready for next season.
The popular performer who
fell off her unicycle and crashed to the court during half-time of the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final between the Indiana Fever and the Minnesota Lynx, has a broken left wrist and will need further consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon, her representatives said on Wednesday.
Red Panda – whose real name is Rong Niu – spent 11 hours in a Minneapolis hospital, with a pair of Lynx staffers there with her the entire time, agent Patrick Figley said. The Chinese-American acrobat was heading home for treatment and recovery, which should take a few months.
'She is very grateful,' Figley said. 'Red Panda thanks everyone for all the kind wishes and support. It means the world to her.'
The fall was caused by part of her unicycle being damaged during transit, Figley said.
The Fever won the game in Minneapolis, and during their postgame locker room celebration, Indiana star Caitlin Clark was among those – on teammate Sydney Colson's live stream on Instagram – to send Red Panda well-wishes.

More Hong Kong success for Ceci Lee, but coach downplays feats ahead of China Championships

Hervé Dagorne said he was reading nothing into Ceci Lee Sze-wing's twin triumph on Friday at the Hong Kong Track Championships. Hong Kong's best rider ruthlessly dominated a five-woman field to win the four-discipline omnium by a mammoth 29 points from nearest challenger Guardiola Cheung Li-tong. The 24-year-old Lee was similarly authoritative in claiming elimination race gold from second-placed Boey Leung Bo-yee. 'There was such a big gap in level after her, and it was a very small group,' Dagorne said. 'The pace was slow and we cannot analyse anything from it.' Chu Tsun-wai, who will turn 24 next Wednesday, pipped Tso Kai-kwong to victory in a stacked 23-rider men's omnium. He returned to finish sixth in an elimination race where top honours were claimed by Ng Pak-hang, who added to the Hong Kong International Track Cup scratch race gold he won in April. 'The men's races were very competitive, there were points available for National Games selection and Chu performed strongly,' Dagorne said.
