Zac Brown, Kendra Scott Engaged—But He's Still Fighting His Ex-Wife In Court

Musician Zac Brown and jewelry designer Kendra Scott, who is worth almost $1 billion according to Forbes estimates, announced their engagement Thursday less than two weeks after a judge set a trial data for the latest installment in an ongoing legal battle between Brown and his ex-wife Kelly Yazdi that has drawn the attention of millions on TikTok. Kendra Scott and Zac Brown attend the 2025 American Music Awards at Fontainebleau Las Vegas on May ... More 26, 2025. Getty Images Brown and Yazdi announced their split months after their August 2023 wedding, and their divorce was finalized in January, but a messy legal battle has continued to play out and the pair will face a jury in September in the U.S. District Courthouse in Atlanta. Yazdi has accused her ex-husband of repeatedly trying to stop her from speaking about their marriage, including through a lawsuit he filed in May over a poem she wrote referencing a relationship with a narcissistic abuser. Brown has also been sued by his ex, who claims he made a music video using a 'look-alike' model with the intention of defaming her and used footage from their wedding without her permission. Yazdi, who has chronicled the saga on TikTok, posted a video about the most recent litigation update—when a trial date was set—on July 16 as part of a nine-part series she's continuously updated on the app, and the post has already been viewed 9.3 million nine videos together have 36.4 million views combined. Representatives for Brown did not immediately respond to Forbes' request for comment Friday. Yazdi claims she was shocked by Brown's decision to separate and that he asked her to sign a nondisclosure agreement about their short marriage, which she refused to do. Brown filed for divorce in January 2024. One month later, the Zac Brown Band released a song titled "Beautiful Drug.' Yazdi said the music video for the track used real footage from her wedding to Brown, and that the band purposefully hired a "promiscuous" look-alike model to make her look bad. In July, Yazdi sued Brown over the video, saying she did not consent to be portrayed and wasn't paid for her likeness. In the music video, the model 'is depicted as being an illegal drug-using, promiscuous reckless abuser of alcohol,' Yazdi's lawsuit said. Brown's team has said the video was shot years before Brown and Yazdi met. In May, after the video was released but before she filed the lawsuit, Yazdi posted a poem titled "The Rebirth" on her Instagram. The poem did not mention Brown by name, but referenced a traumatic relationship and included accusations of gaslighting, threats and stonewalling. The poem suggested she'd been in a controlling relationship "disguised" as love: "His betrayal forced her down a road through Hell and brutal heartbreak, and the terrifying reality of narcissistic abuse," the post read. In May 2024, Brown filed a lawsuit against his ex, claiming the poem and another on her page defamed him and violated confidentiality agreement from her time working at his company, the Zac Brown Collective, Inc. He also filed for a temporary restraining order, which was denied. In a statement made at the time, Brown said he filed the lawsuit to take the "steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation." That lawsuit is the one with a jury trial date set for September. 'Those of you asking, 'Why has he been trying so hard to silence her,' get your popcorn ready because you're going to find out on September 15th,' Yazdi posted to TikTok Thursday. What To Watch For How the lawsuit plays out. Yazdi confirmed she and Brown both must appear in person in the Atlanta court on Sept. 15, adding 'I can't say I'm looking forward to our 'reunion,' but I am looking forward to putting this all behind me.' Tangent Brown and Scott first appeared together in public at the 2025 American Music Awards in May. The pair reportedly met through mutual friends. Scott, who has three children, has been married three times before and Brown, who has five children, has been married twice. The couple announced their engagement, and showed off Scott's pink diamond ring, in an interview with People magazine released late Thursday night. Some social media comments about the engagement referenced Brown's defamation lawsuit against Yazdi. In her most recent TikTok video about her divorce, Yazdi's caption read, 'This is also not about Zac's new fiancee. I will forever be a girls' girl, and I wish her the best… I would just hope that it would be more important to Zac to focus on his new engagement versus trying to control his last… but here we are…' Forbes Valuation Scott was ranked as No. 41 on Forbes' list of America's richest self-made women this year and has an estimated net worth of $900 million. Her fortune comes from a majority stake in her jewelry company, which has over $500 million in revenue. Berkshire Partners sold its stake in the company to Singapore-based 65 Equity Partners last year at a valuation of more than $1 billion. Fan scared by bug sparks stampede after pop icon's concert, hurting 11

A stampede after Beyoncé's Atlanta concert last week that was reportedly started by a fan being scared by a bug injured at least 11 people, according to Billboard. The incident happened at Vine City Station as concertgoers gathered to use the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) to get home from the 'Cowboy Carter Tour' show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 15. Videos on social media captured crowds pouring into the station and an escalator malfunctioning, throwing people on top of each other as a result. Billboard reported the stampede was caused by a fan who had screamed after seeing a bug. MARTA told the outlet that 11 people were injured in the incident. 'One person suffered a broken ankle, seven people were transported to the hospital with cuts and scrapes, and one person declined transport,' a MARTA spokesperson told Billboard. 'Two people requested medical assistance after reaching their destinations. MARTA Police on scene reported that a person began screaming and running, causing a stampede on the escalator that caused it to temporarily speed up and then stop suddenly.' The spokesperson added, 'MARTA Police on scene said there was a scream and witnesses said the person who screamed was reacting to an insect. I believe there's also video on TikTok of a woman claiming it was a 10-year-old relative who screamed when she saw a bug.' The escalator was later barricaded and was said to be under investigation, Billboard reported. The frighting ordeal happened on the fourth and final night of Beyoncé's Atlanta run on the 'Cowboy Carter Tour.' Also in Atlanta, Beyoncé's choreographer and dancer were robbed on July 8, with some of the superstar's unreleased music and touring plans being stolen. The final stops on the 'Cowboy Carter Tour' are on July 25 and 26 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mighty Nein Season 1: Release date, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on July 25, 2025, 17:30 IST Last updated July 25, 2025, 11:03 IST If you've been counting down the days since The Legend of Vox Machina wrapped up its latest season, you're not alone. But now, there's even more to get excited about: The Mighty Nein —the next animated series based on Critical Role's second Dungeons & Dragons campaign—is officially dropping on November 19, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video. Yep, the chaotic crew of lovable outcasts, accidental heroes, and emotional wrecks (in the best way) is coming to life in animation. And if you thought Vox Machina brought the drama, just wait until you meet this bunch. When Exactly Is The Mighty Nein Coming Out? The release date was finally confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025—and it's set for November 19. While there haven't been a ton of production updates, the creators have said the show is well past the halfway point. Voice work, animation tests, and storyboarding are mostly locked in, and fans got a sneak peek in 2024 of Fjord and Jester's first meeting. That short clip already had fans buzzing about the tone, style, and emotional depth. We don't have an official episode count yet, but it's expected to follow a similar format to Vox Machina —so around 30 minutes per episode, and yep, a TV-MA rating. Expect swearing, blood, trauma, and some very questionable decisions (you know the drill). Who's in the Cast? The best part? The original Critical Role cast is back to voice all of their characters. That means we're getting: Travis Willingham as Fjord , the broody half-orc warlock with a sea monster problem (hi, Uk'otoa). Laura Bailey as Jester , your favorite chaos-loving tiefling cleric who leaves drawings of dicks in holy books. Liam O'Brien as Caleb , the traumatized wizard who smells like old books and regret. Sam Riegel as Nott the Brave —later known as Veth —a goblin rogue trying to find her way home. Ashley Johnson as Yasha , a quiet barbarian with a seriously tragic backstory and a lot of swords. Marisha Ray as Beau , the human monk who punches problems until they stop being problems. Taliesin Jaffe doing double duty as Mollymauk Tealeaf , the flamboyant blood hunter, and later Caduceus Clay , the tea-drinking firbolg cleric who talks to mushrooms. And of course, Matthew Mercer will voice all the extra characters, monsters, and villains—just like he did in Vox Machina . On top of that, we've got Ming-Na Wen and Mark Strong joining the voice cast in undisclosed roles, which is already giving us chills. You just know they're going to be incredible. What's The Mighty Nein Actually About? Set in Wildemount, about 20 years after Vox Machina's big adventure, The Mighty Nein follows a group of broken, messy, occasionally criminal people who somehow end up saving the world (kind of). At first, they're just trying to survive. But when a dangerous magical artifact shows up—one that could literally reshape reality—they get dragged into something way bigger than themselves. This story leans more into political drama, redemption arcs, and serious emotional baggage, compared to the more traditional fantasy quest vibes of Vox Machina . Expect moral gray areas, inner demons, and some truly heartbreaking moments. Some standout arcs that will probably make it into the show: Fjord's connection to Uk'otoa , and the yellow orb that starts it all—leading the gang onto a stolen ship ( The Mistake ) and into high-seas danger with the pirate Avantika. Nott's journey to become Veth again and reconnect with her family, which is way more emotional than you might think. Caleb's past with the Cerberus Assembly , especially his old mentor Trent Ikithon, and how Dunamancy magic (read: timey-wimey chaos) plays into it. The gang's role in the War of Ash and Light , a tense conflict between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty. Oh, and the whole city made of brains and nightmares arc—aka Cognouza—which introduces Tharizdûn, the god of eternal darkness. It gets weird in the best possible way. Also, heads up: Mollymauk dies pretty early on. But don't worry, Taliesin's still around as Caduceus , who brings a completely different (and deeply comforting) vibe to the group.
