France aiming for united front in Women's Euro clash with England
Coach Laurent Bonadei, who has spent a lot of time defending his decision not to bring the duo to Switzerland, told reporters he would be rotating his team at the Euros if that is what it took to end their wait for an elusive first major trophy.
"In my mind, all the players who are part of this group have their chance to bring their stone to the building of this team," he said. "Tomorrow there will be 11 players who will start this match but I can already tell you that those who will start the match against Wales will be different."
France are drawn in Group D with England, Wales and Netherlands, with the top two going through to the knockout stage.
Bonadei's new captain Griege Mbock is set to miss the game through injury but the French have sought to foster a strong mentality in which every player is ready to step up, regardless of age or experience.
"It's true that there have been a lot of changes over the past year but we remain a strong group, the French team. Of course, we have responsibilities that may be different at certain times but everyone has a role to play in this team," midfielder Sakina Karchaoui told reporters.
"We are all present for each other, we are building a strong team, we have worked on all aspects. Now, there is a very good competition coming and it is up to us to show what the French team has to offer." REUTERS

Gill's unbeaten 100, following his first-innings double century (269), took him past compatriot Sunil Gavaskar's 344 runs in a single test against the West Indies in 1971. India are yet to declare with four sessions left, but England already face a mountain that has been climbed by only four teams in test history - chasing a fourth-innings target of over 400 for victory. After Gill lost his vice-captain Rishabh Pant (65) following a 110-run partnership, Ravindra Jadeja (25 not out) joined him at the crease. Just as in the first innings - in which they shared a 203-run stand - they frustrated the England bowlers with a 68-run partnership to take India's total to 304-4. In the first session, Brydon Carse had Karun Nair caught behind while KL Rahul crafted a patient 55 before Josh Tongue struck with a ball that seamed off the pitch to go past the Indian batter's defence and hit the stumps. Tongue's delight was short-lived, however, as Pant walked in and unsettled the fast bowler with a boundary before he danced down the track to smash it over his head for six. Pant brought up their 100-run partnership in 89 balls when he smashed Tongue for another six which also took India's lead past 400. Pant lost his bat with another extravagant shot after lunch, but this time he skied the ball to long off where Ben Duckett took the catch. England did chase down 371 to win the first test by five wickets and their highest successful chase came at this ground three years ago when they made 378 to beat India.

LONDON :Former champion Elena Rybakina was sent spinning out of the Wimbledon third round on Saturday, the 11th-seeded Kazakh undone by the irresistible momentum of Denmark's Clara Tauson. On a blustery Court Two, Tauson - previously winless in three main-draw visits to the All England Club - barely put a toe out of line, breezing through their rain-interrupted duel 7-6(6) 6-3. "It was amazing to play here, even though it was a little rainy," Tauson said. "I don't know what to say. I played a really great match. Before the grass season started, I'd never won a match on grass so I'm super proud and happy with the way I played today." Her serve crackled, her groundstrokes thundered, and Rybakina, for all her pedigree, never glimpsed a foothold. "My serve is always a big weapon," added Tauson, who won 73 per cent of points on her first serve. "But learning to manage the first shot ... Elena plays so hard and I was there every single point and fighting for every single point. That was the key." This was a statement victory for the 22-year-old Dane, seeded 23rd, who at last broke her duck against the 2022 Wimbledon champion after two prior defeats. "My coach, who's also my boyfriend, we've worked so hard the whole year, the end of last year," said Tauson. "Every one of my friends and the people who came today to support me was amazing." Tauson now marches into a meeting with either eighth seed Iga Swiatek or American Danielle Collins, with a coveted quarter-final berth in her sights.
