As the UAE continues to lead in values of giving and inclusion, LEOS Developments aligns its success with the well-being of the wider community
Dubai, UAE – July 28, 2025 – LEOS Developments, in partnership with Dubai Charity Association, hosted a successful toy drive last month, collecting over 300 toys for underprivileged children across the city.
Held at the LEOS amphitheatre in Business Bay, the initiative brought together members of the community to support vulnerable children, many of whom have been left without stable family support. The donated toys were distributed during a joyful afternoon event, where children were treated to refreshments, interactive games, and inclusive activities designed to bring joy and a sense of belonging.
'Building a community means more than creating homes; it means creating spaces where everyone, especially the most vulnerable, feels cared for and included,' said Rui Liu, Chairman and Founder of LEOS Developments. 'When it comes to children without families, who face unique challenges and uncertainties, it becomes even more important that we come together to offer support and hope. While no single initiative can address every need, small acts of kindness, like this toy drive, can create moments of joy and a sense of belonging for these children that matter deeply. We hope this inspires others to contribute in whatever way they can, helping build a more compassionate and inclusive society for all.'
This initiative also builds on LEOS Developments' wider commitment to social responsibility, following the company's pledge to donate profits from its Kensington Gardens development and all future projects to the Dubai Charity Association in support of long-term charitable causes across the emirate. It also aligns with national efforts like Dubai's Family Village, a government-backed residential community that provides long-term care for children without families, highlighting the importance of community-led contributions.
As the UAE continues to lead in values of giving and inclusion, LEOS Developments, by aligning its success with the well-being of the wider community, continues to set a powerful example of how business and philanthropy can work hand in hand to build a more compassionate and inclusive future.

Trump Threatens UK Drugmakers With 60-Day Deadline to Cut US Prices, 'We'll Use Every Tool We Have'

Taarek Refaat President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to British pharmaceutical giants, warning they have 60 days to slash the prices of their medicines in the U.S. market or face aggressive action from his administration. 'We will use every tool in our arsenal,' Trump vowed on Saturday, targeting 17 drug companies in an escalating campaign to force them to match the reduced prices they offer in developing nations for the U.S. healthcare system. The move comes as the administration rolls out a wave of new tariffs on dozens of countries, including punitive duties on neighboring Canada, intensifying an already heated global trade climate. British drugmakers AstraZeneca and GSK saw their shares tumble amid investor fears over White House pressure, as Trump seeks to deliver on his pledge to bring down prescription costs for Americans. Analysts warn the policy could have ripple effects across the UK's National Health Service (NHS), which benefits from strong bargaining power with suppliers due to its massive purchasing scale, an advantage that could erode if companies are forced to harmonize prices globally. Trump is pushing for drugmakers to apply a 'most-favored nation' pricing model to Medicaid, the program serving low-income Americans, effectively demanding that the U.S. pay no more than the lowest price offered internationally. 'Cooperation toward global price parity in medicines would be the most effective path for companies, governments, and American patients alike,' Trump said in a statement. But his letter to pharmaceutical executives carried a blunt warning, 'If you refuse, we will use every tool in our arsenal to protect American families from unfair and excessive pricing practices. Americans need lower drug prices today, not tomorrow.' The president's remarks rattled markets, wiping an estimated £16 billion off the European pharmaceutical sector's market value amid concerns that lower U.S. prices could be offset by higher costs elsewhere in the world. Skeptics question whether Trump has the legal authority to impose direct drug price cuts, noting a similar effort during his first term was struck down in court. Back then, Trump accused current pricing models of 'subsidizing socialism abroad' by selling identical medicines, made in the same factories, at cheaper rates overseas, fueling inflated prices at home. Saturday's warning coincided with Trump signing an executive order imposing new tariffs on 68 countries plus the European Union. Canada was hit particularly hard, with duties raised from 25% to 35%, over what the White House called Ottawa's 'failure to cooperate' in halting the flow of illicit drugs, especially fentanyl, into the U.S. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney defended his country's efforts, citing 'historic investments in border security to apprehend drug traffickers and end migrant smuggling.' Switzerland, stunned by tariffs of 39%, far higher than anticipated, said it would continue negotiations with Washington to defuse the trade escalation. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Chelsea loan defender Sarr back to Strasbourg for upcoming season - World

Premier League side Chelsea loaned teenage defender Mamadou Sarr back to sister club Strasbourg on Friday for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. The French club confirmed the loan move on its website, having sold the highly rated Sarr to Chelsea in June. Strasbourg is owned by the consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital that bought Chelsea in 2022. The 19-year-old Sarr is a France under-20 international. He was a regular last season, playing 27 league games as Alsace-based Strasbourg finished in seventh place to seal a place in the Conference League playoffs. He previously played briefly for Lyon. Chelsea won the Conference League last season and will play in the Champions League after finishing in fourth place in the Premier League. Strasbourg was bought by Chelsea's ownership group, BlueCo, in 2023. Chelsea said Sarr had signed a contract until 2033 but didn't disclose the transfer fee. Strasbourg open its league campaign at Metz on Aug. 17. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.) Newcastle reject Liverpool bid for Isak: Reports - World

Newcastle have rejected Liverpool's opening bid to sign unsettled Sweden striker Alexander Isak, according to reports on Friday. Isak has been training at his old club Real Sociedad this week after reportedly telling Newcastle he wants to leave St James' Park. The 25-year-old has been linked with Liverpool since the end of last season and the Premier League champions are now believed to have formalised their interest with an offer of around £110 million ($159 million) plus potential add-ons. But Newcastle, who reportedly value Isak at £150 million, remain keen to hold onto their prize asset and have rebuffed Liverpool's initial bid. Isak, who joined Newcastle in a £60 million move from Real Sociedad in 2022, scored 23 Premier League goals last season to help Newcastle qualify for the Champions League. He has three years left on his Newcastle contract, but did not travel to Asia for the Magpies' ongoing pre-season tour, with the club saying he had a minor thigh injury. On Thursday, Real Sociedad confirmed he was at their Zubieta facility with his own trainers. It was reported on Friday that Newcastle had told Isak he could agree a new deal containing a get-out clause for next year, but he responded by insisting he wants to move now. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has already bolstered his attacking options by signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz during the current transfer window. But the Reds are keen to make their forward line even more formidable by adding Isak as they look to win back to back English titles for the first time since the 1980s. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe struck a defiant note earlier this week when he said: "He is still our player. He's contracted to us. "We, to a degree, control what is next for him. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. "My wish is that he stays, but that's not in my full control." Liverpool have spent over £250 million so far in the summer window, with Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili joining Wirtz and Ekitike at Anfield.
