Bangladeshi Passenger Tries To Break Through Glass Barrier At Kolkata Airport, Detained
Last Updated: Ashraful tried to forcefully break the glass partition in an apparent attempt to exit the terminal. Mohammad Ashraful, a Bangladeshi national en route from Singapore to Dhaka, was arrested at Kolkata Airport after attempting to break a glass barrier during a layover. Ashraful, who did not possess an Indian visa, was restricted to the international transit area and was not authorised to enter India. The Kolkata International Airport's terminal is designed with secure glass enclosures that prevent passengers from leaving the transit zone without following proper international transfer procedures. Despite this, around noon on Friday, Ashraful tried to forcefully break the glass partition in an apparent attempt to exit the terminal. Authorities remain unclear about his motive for trying to enter Kolkata without a visa. Following his arrest, Ashraful was questioned, and his responses raised suspicions, leading to his detention for further interrogation. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing. view comments First Published: August 02, 2025, 07:25 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
