Sana'a Health Council reviews hospitals performance, approves new projects
Sana'a Health Council, led by Sana'a governor Abdulbasit al-Hadi, convened on Tuesday to discuss achievement reports from various hospitals, evaluate service delivery to citizens, and outline plans for future service improvements.
The meeting, attended by Dr. Khaled al-Muntaser, Director of the Health and Environment Office, and hospital directors, reviewed projects completed during the 2024 fiscal year.
The council assessed the progress of the Heart and Dialysis Centers at the 22nd of May Hospital in Dhila Hamdan, acknowledging the operational challenges posed by limited resources.
Dr. al-Muntaser and Eng. Khaled al-Dhabhani, Deputy Director of Engineering Affairs at the Ministry of Health and Environment, presented the designs for the Sana'a General Model Hospital project.
This ambitious project, planned for a 60,000 square meter site, will include medical centers, annexes, 450 inpatient beds, and 100 intensive care beds, with an estimated cost of $20 million.
The council also reviewed and approved the construction designs for the general emergency building, care, and diagnostic departments at Omrah Hospital in Arhab district, with an estimated cost of 110 million Y.R. Implementation procedures were approved to begin.
Dr. Mujahid al-Rumaim, Deputy Director of the Health and Environment Office, detailed Ramadan Medical Charity Program, which will provide free medical services in the province's hospitals during Ramadan.
The council approved the announcement of the program's services and scheduled its implementation from the eighth of Ramadan until the end of the month.
Attendees expressed gratitude for the local authority's support in implementing health projects and advancing strategic initiatives to improve healthcare services in the province.

Taiz next Saturday hosts eye free medical camp in Military Hospital
Sana'a - Saba: The Health Care Association for Affected Communities will launch its (66) free eye surgery camp next Saturday at the General Military Hospital in the Taiziyah District of Taiz Governorate. The camp, which will be held from 10 to 15 Muharram, is funded by the General Authority for Zakat in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Environment. It aims to provide examination services and perform 200 surgeries, including cataracts, pterygium, and eyelid cysts. Hassan Tamah, head of the Health Committee at the General Authority for Zakat, emphasized the Authority's commitment to supporting and funding medical camps to alleviate the suffering of citizens, assist the needy, and meet needs in remote areas lacking access to services. For his part, Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, head of the Health Care Association, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the free camp is part of a series of camps organized by the association as part of its solidarity projects, embodying the mercy of Islam, its commitment to caring for the poor, and its commitment to charitable and righteous deeds. He stated that during the first three days of the camp, which will be held in cooperation with the governorate's health office, screening and examinations will be conducted, identifying cases requiring surgical intervention and subjecting them to pre-operative tests. Taiz: Training Courses launched on management of acute watery Diarrhea cases, including Cholera
Taiz – Saba: The Health and Environment Office in Taiz Governorate launched today four training courses for healthcare workers in various districts, focusing on the management of acute watery diarrhea cases, including cholera. The initiative is being conducted in coordination with the National Program for Combating Diarrhea and Cholera at the Ministry of Health and supported by UNICEF. Each course will last three days, targeting 80 healthcare workers from medical facilities in the districts of Al-Ta'iziyah, Mawiyah, Maqbanah, Shar'ab al-Salam, Shar'ab al-Rawnah, Hayfan, Sama', Khadir, Salah, Al-Silw, and Jabal Habashi.
