Nagpur: With only one driver and three contractual firemen currently deployed, and a 5,000-litre capacity fire tender stationed at the site, the recently-inaugurated Pachpaoli fire station started operating amid manpower constraints.
Despite the challenges, the facility is expected to significantly strengthen fire response in North Nagpur, where emergencies have risen due to the rising population, high-rises, malls, industries, hospitals, and slum clusters.
As part of a city-wide master plan for 22 fire stations, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation got the fully-equipped Pachpaoli station inaugurated by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of revenue-cum-district guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Sunday.
Residents of areas like Buddh Nagar, Barse Nagar, Lashkaribagh, Vaishali Nagar, Balabhau Peth, Nava Nakasha, Thakkargram, Kanji House, Yadavnagar, Teka Naka, Timki, Mehdi Bagh Colony, Kidwai Ground, Bangladesh Naik Talav, Kadbi Chowk, Mecosabagh, Mominpura, and Dhobinagar will benefit directly from faster response times.

The previous station building at Pachpaoli became unsafe in 2011, prompting a temporary shift to Sugat Nagar. However, the increasing demand for prompt fire services in north Nagpur led to the decision to rebuild at Pachpaoli. The foundation stone was laid on August 5, 2023, and the facility was ready within 18 months.
The G+5 storey structure spans 3,078.09 sqm on a 1,708.94 sqm plot, featuring two wings with 35 residential quarters — 2 for officers and 33 for staff — with 2BHK layouts.
The complex also includes underground parking and three water tanks with a capacity of 25,000-litre apiece.
The building has dedicated offices for deputy fire officers, men's and women's sections, a control room, and storage areas, with lifts in both wings. The station can house two fire tenders and two mini water tenders simultaneously.
The manpower for Pachpaoli fire station was spared from Sugat Nagar station.
The Sugat Nagar fire station is currently functioning with 11 permanent staff and a few contractual workers, spread over three shifts.
Typically, two drivers are deployed for every shift with absenteeism or leave reducing the
operational strength on any given day.
Fire officer Sunil Dokre confirmed that despite the staffing constraints, both stations remain functional and emergency response operations have already begun in Pachpaoli.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra on Saturday stated that the window grills of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple will be made of "titanium," marking a first in the country. Mishra explained that titanium was chosen for its exceptional durability and lighter weight compared to other metals. "For the first time in the country, the grills of windows of the temple will be made of titanium metal. Pakistan starts rebuilding terror launchpads destroyed in Operation Sindoor with ISI support: Report

Pakistan has begun rebuilding terrorist launchpads and training camps that were destroyed during India's precision military strikes under Operation Sindoor in May, NDTV said in an exclusive report citing top intelligence sources. The reconstruction is reportedly backed by the Pakistani military, its intelligence agency ISI, and the interim government. According to the report, Pakistan is setting up small, high-tech terror facilities in forested areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to evade Indian surveillance and future strikes. These facilities are being equipped with technologies designed to mask thermal, radar, and satellite signatures. ET Online has not independently verified the report. New sites are being built in areas such as Kel, Sardi, Dudhnial, Athmuqam, Jura, Lipa, Pachiban, Kahuta, Kotli, Khuiratta, Mandhar, Nikail, Chamankot, and Jankote locations chosen for their difficult terrain and thick vegetation. To reduce vulnerability, Pakistan's ISI has allegedly dispersed training across smaller camps, each housing fewer than 200 terrorists, the report said. These mini-camps are said to be guarded by specially trained Pakistan Army units and fitted with advanced surveillance tools, including thermal sensors and anti-drone systems. Live Events ISI-terror group nexus active According to intelligence sources cited by NDTV, Indian agencies intercepted communications indicating a recent high-level meeting in Bahawalpur, attended by senior commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed , Lashkar-e-Taiba , Hizbul Mujahideen , and The Resistance Front, along with ISI officials. Bahawalpur, the JeM headquarters, was a major target in Operation Sindoor. The meeting reportedly focused on rebuilding terror infrastructure, reassigning leadership roles, and accelerating recruitment efforts in Pakistan and Kashmir. NDTV also accessed footage showing condolence events for terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor, with masked armed men providing security. International aid allegedly misused Citing unnamed sources, the report said that part of Pakistan's international financial aid from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) is allegedly being diverted to finance the reconstitution of these terror camps. Pakistan has secured a USD 350 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to promote women's financial inclusion and economic empowerment under the Women Inclusive Finance (WIF) Sector Development Programme, according to Radio Pakistan. Separately, Pakistan is under a USD 7 billion IMF loan programme and has received two tranches so far, the latest in May. The country is also expecting to secure an additional USD 3.3 billion in foreign loans from Chinese banks through a syndicated loan and refinancing of commercial debt.
