Moment armed masked gang smash up home and cars in brazen attack
The shocking moment a gang of masked men, armed with weapons, attacking a home and cars in a brazen incident has been caught on video.
A mob of at least nine thugs can be seen approaching a home with weapons ranging from slash hooks to crow bars before attacking the front door in the disturbing footage.
More masked men are seen smashing up two parked cars, breaking all the windows and sending glass flying before cowardly fleeing, reports CorkBeo.
The frightening incident occurred last night shortly before 10 pm at Onslow Gardens, a mature housing estate near Blackpool, home to many older residents and young families.
The brazen criminals 'terrorised' the neighbourhood while it was still bright outside. However, it's understood there were no injuries.
Gardaí have confirmed they are investigating"an incident of criminal damage that occurred outside a residence in Onslow Gardens, Cork at approximately 9:45 pm last night." A spokesperson said: "Damage was reported to a house and vehicle. No injuries were reported."
In a plea for the perpetrators to stop, Ken O'Flynn TD said an escalating feud on Cork's northside is " terrorising... an otherwise peaceful neighbourhood."
"Innocent residents - men, women, and children - were caught in the middle of this madness," he said. "Several families have had their vehicles vandalised, their safety compromised, and their sense of community shattered. This is not just unacceptable. It is appalling.
"This kind of violence has no place on our streets... I am calling for calm and restraint from all involved. Nothing justifies this sort of aggression, and it must stop before someone is seriously injured or killed.
"I urge those engaged in this feud to take a step back and consider the devastation they are bringing not only upon each other but upon the wider community."
The Independent Ireland Deputy said he would raise the incident with Gardaí and the Minister for Justice and would do "all in his power to facilitate" a resolution to the feud.

Paedo offered to pick teen up at school in Mercedes before being caught in sting
Andrew Bolton pleaded for explicit images during conversation on Snapchat - but the girl was actually a specially trained police officer. A car valeter was snared in an undercover police sting after he begged the underage decoy for explicit photographs. Andrew Bolton, 27, used social media to strike up a conversation with the 14-year-old youngster. The chat became highly sexualised with Bolton pleading for her to send him explicit images of herself. But the girl was actually a specially trained police officer working as part of a probe dubbed Operation Overview. The pair exchanged dozens of messages between June and October 2023 which even saw him attempt to arrange to meet up with the girl. At one point Bolton told her he would pick her up in his Mercedes A Class car and asked if she liked being a 'good girl' for him. He later had his home raided by police and a vile stash of 34 illicit images and 11 videos of children as young as five being abused were found on his phone. Bolton, of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted sexual communication, attempting to meet a child and permitting indecent photos of a child to be taken. Depute fiscal Neil Thomson told the court: "Early in the conversation she made it clear that she was 14 years old but he continued the conversation despite acknowledging her age. "He thereafter made a suggestion to meet with the girl and the message 'come see me after school' was exchanged and he informed her he would pick her up in his Mercedes A Class motor vehicle." The court was told Bolton then unfriended the girl on Snapchat and was later arrested. Sheriff John Hamilton KC deferred sentence on the first offender until next month for reports and continued bail. He was placed on the sex offenders' register. Operation Overview was launched by police in 2022 and has so far led to the arrest of dozens of 'high-harm' threats to children in Scotland.

Tragic teen buried alive under 200C tar dies as family 'no longer sleep or eat'
Matis Dugast had only started working at the site at the start of this year. The family of a teen has been left devastated after a tragic workplace incident claimed his life. Matis Dugast, 19, tragically passed away on Tuesday, July 22, following an accident at his new job as a wheelbarrow operator with a public works company, which he joined in January. The shocking incident took place when he was engulfed by 200C asphalt at a construction site in Sainte-Flaive-des-Loups, Vendee, western France. In the wake of the dreadful event, his heartbroken mum spoke out determined to keep her son's memory alive reports the Express. Speaking to Journal des Sables, she revealed: "We no longer sleep, we no longer eat. "Right now, it's hell on Earth. At 6:16pm, our family died." She is resolute in her mission to honour Matis and to spare other families from enduring such pain. Considering setting up an association to promote safety within the construction industry, she aims to prevent similar tragedies. She detailed her plans: "It (The association) will bear my son's name and its purpose will be to prevent workplace risks. We want to help people, give them a sense of purpose, and allow them to speak out. "To gain recognition for these high-risk professions. We don't want such horrors to continue. We want him to live on through us and this association." Born in Charleville-Mézière, Matis Dugast was the youngest of four siblings, with three sisters. Just three months after his birth, his family moved to Rives de l'Yon in Vendee. His mum warmly remembered how he always claimed he hailed from Vendee, not the Ardennes. She spoke of him as a whirlwind of joy and vitality and called him - "a real lifesaver" in their daily lives. The family is also planning to hold a silent march to commemorate their beloved son. She announced: "We'll talk as a family to set a date, but it will be in the next few weeks. We want to honour him. And above all, put a stop to all these workplace accidents!" In another tragic incident in France, earlier this month, a newborn baby sadly died after being dropped on her head in a hospital, allegedly by a six year old boy. Following the death of Zayneb-Cassandra at the Jeanne-de-Flandre Children's Hospital in Lille, northern France, authorities have launched a criminal investigation. The infant was declared dead last Tuesday following a traumatic brain injury sustained the previous Friday, reportedly caused when the boy dropped her onto the floor, treating her "like a doll," an investigative source claimed.

Two other individuals - a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman - were also arrested as part of the coordinated sting, which saw officers search residential properties in the city's Douglas, St Mary's and Lochee areas, and a business premises in Douglas. The force said at the time of the arrests that they were not the end of the investigation, and that a probe into illegal activity in the city was still ongoing. Detective Inspector Keir Smith of Police Scotland said: "Today's action highlights our commitment to tackling human trafficking and drugs offences – crimes that have no place in our communities in Tayside. "We work closely with our partners, not just locally but nationally to raise public awareness to ensure that victims are given the support they need. " Drugs cause misery in our communities and those who import, sell and supply will take any opportunity to exploit vulnerable people. " Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the activities of organised crime groups and making Scotland a hostile environment them to operate. "This operation underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy." A Police Scotland spokesperson said this afternoon: "The individuals have since been charged."
