ITV Midsomer Murders fans say the same thing as Inspector Morse star makes appearance
Midsomer Murders viewers found themselves thoroughly distracted on Tuesday evening after Kevin Whately popped up in a repeat episode of the ITV series.
The star, renowned for portraying Lewis in both Inspector Morse and the ITV spin-off Lewis, stepped into the shoes of murder suspect Jeremy in the John Barnaby drama.
Within moments of the episode beginning, fans flocked to Twitter to express their excitement over the Inspector Morse crossover.
@NickStevenson63 wrote: "So... when worlds collide; Inspector Lewis in Midsomer Murders. It was bound to happen sooner or later given the number of strange and bizarre deaths in this otherwise quiet corner of Oxfordshire."
@Suzy_H14 begged: "They can't kill #Lewis #MidsomerMurders," reports the Express.

Kevin portrayed Robert "Robbie" Lewis in Inspector Morse from 1987 to 2000, and in Lewis from 2006 to 2015.
In a 2023 interview, Midsomer Murders' lead actors Neil Dudgeon and Fiona Dolman graced the This Morning sofa to discuss the show's milestone 50th episode.
The on-screen couple shared a light-hearted conversation with hosts Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle about the enduring appeal of the series.
"So what's the secret to your on-screen success?" Alison inquired, prompting Neil to quip: "Sexual chemistry."
He elaborated: "I think we've just got on very well right from the start, didn't we?".
"We did," Fiona concurred. "Neil was already cast, so I had an audition, and I had to go in and read with him.
"And yeah, I think we clicked right from the beginning."
Reflecting on their long-running partnership, Fiona added: "We've done it for 12 years now which means all that kind of fear that you have as an actor when you join something and you have to pretend you have an intimate relationship with someone that you've never met, that's all just gone now, hasn't it?".
"It is great, I always said we should have had Fiona in the show anyway," Neil, who plays John Barnaby, interjected.

Welsh rock legend Dave Edmunds seriously ill in hospital after cardiac arrest
Welsh musician Dave Edmunds is gravely ill in intensive care following a cardiac arrest, according to his wife. The Cardiff-born performer, aged 81, reportedly died before being brought back to life, the Express reported. His spouse of 40 years, Cecilia Edmunds, known as Cici, posted a heartfelt message on Facebook describing the terrifying ordeal at their Rockfield home in Monmouthshire. Cici explained how she fought to "keep him alive" whilst a nurse administered "heavy CPR" on Dave at their residence. Cici recalled the nurse's devastating words: "Cici I'm gonna stop. Dave is gone. He is dead." Cici says she refused to give up on her husband and asked fans to send prayers and messages of support for Dave, who is critically ill in hospital. She revealed that he has suffered significant brain damage and memory loss, and is at a "high risk" of experiencing another cardiac arrest. She said: "I'm still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience. My brilliant talented funny and special Dave could really use as many peoples prayers and good wishes so to speak." "Thank you all for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me. Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. "But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always." Fans have been sending their best wishes and support. One said: "All my love, support and prayers to Dave, and please stay on your road to recovery, Cici." Another shared: "Deepest heartfelt prayers for Dave, praying for a miracle." A third person contributed: "Hi Cici. This is such sad news. Our thoughts are with you in such trying times." The musician is best known or his 1970 Christmas No. 1 hit I Hear You Knocking, which sold three million copies and climbed to number four in America. He enjoyed numerous chart successes during the 1970s and early 1980s with songs such as Slipping Away, The Promised Land and Girls Talk. Dave established Love Sculpture, releasing their first single in 1968, before pursuing a solo career and collaborating with notable artists including Sir Paul McCartney and Nick Lowe. Dave wed his Swedish wife Cici in 1983, and the couple now live in their home Monmouth.

Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews axed from ITV soap
Matthews has been a Corrie regular for the past 10 years, playing the role of Jenny Connor. She first appeared on the ITV soap (as Jenny Connor) back in 1986. Matthews departed the show in 1991, and apart from a brief appearance in 1993, she returned to cobbles in 2015. However, Matthews is now set for her second departure from Coronation Street, revealing on Friday (August 1) that she will be leaving the ITV soap after "doing an extra ten years". In a post on Instagram, she said: "I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much! "It's time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I'd 'grown up.' "Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter." Country legend Jeannie Seely dies aged 85 months after her husband
Country music icon Jeannie Seely has died at the age of 85. She was best known for her songs including 1960s hits Don't Touch Me, I'll Love You More (Than You Need) and Can I Sleep In Your Arms? released in 1973. Seely, who also played at legendary venue the Grand Ole Opry more than 5,300 times, died at Summit Medical Center in Tennessee on Friday. Her cause of death was complications from an intestinal infection, according to People magazine. Seely had been battling health issues for much of 2025 following the death of her husband last year, a statement from her rep revealed. She had also undergone 'multiple back surgeries this spring for vertebrae repairs' as well as 'two emergency abdominal surgeries'. The music star had also spent 11 days in the intensive care unit after suffering from pneumonia, the statement added. Husband Eugene Ward had died from cancer in December 2024. 'I have known Jeanie Seely since we were early on in Nashville,' the I Will Always Love You hitmaker began, calling Seely one of her 'dearest friends'.
