Ohio State football names summer workout 'Dudes of the Week' for June 18
We continue to get closer and closer to the start of the college football season (73 days for Ohio State fans, but who's counting?), but in the meantime, the Ohio State football team continues to go through summer workouts as it prepares to open up fall camp on July 31. (Reminder: The first three fall camp sessions are open to the public via ticket purchase).
There's not a whole lot of news coming from the Woody Hayes Athletic Facilities, but we have seen some highlights of the program's fun "June Olympics," between the staff and players, and we get a feel for which players are performing the best in summer workouts when the program announces its "Dudes of the Week."
We're not sure what goes into that, but the OSU Football Creative Team just announced the three guys recognized for this week. That trio is safety Caleb Downs, center Carson Hinzman, and linebacker Payton Pierce. There's not a whole lot of fanfare with these nominations or announcements, but you can bet these three are carrying themselves like leaders, working hard, and providing a great example for the rest of the team.
There's still a few more weeks before fall camp opens, and there's no schedule of how long the program will recognize guys for this, but as they do, we'll bring it to you so we can all get an idea of who is impressing the coaches and peers during workouts.

Why Gregg Popovich just had 32 wins removed from his NBA record
Legendary NBA coach Gregg Popovich's career win total has just taken a hit. The longtime Spurs head coach had 77 games, including 32 wins, removed from his ledger because he did not coach those contests after suffering a stroke on Nov. 2 that held him from coaching for the rest of last season. The games are now credited to Mitch Johnson, who has now taken over as the team's full-time head coach after he led the squad on an interim basis. Advertisement 3 Former Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Con Popovich's record now sits at 1,390-824, and though his total number of wins went down a smidge, his win percentage went up from .621 to .628. Though Popovich lost some wins, it does not knock him off his throne as the NBA's all-time leader in victories because he's still 53 wins clear of Don Nelson. Advertisement After the 2024-25 season concluded, Popovich announced that he was stepping away from the head coach position after 29 years. 'While my love and passion for the game remain, I've decided it's time to step away as head coach,' Popovich said in a statement. Wednesday's change was not the first time the NBA has tweaked the records of a head coach. In 1979, former Lakers coach Jack McKinney was involved in a biking accident early in the season, leading to Paul Westhead taking over as interim coach. Advertisement 3 Gregg Popovich in 2018. AP The NBA now only credits McKinney with a 10-4 record that year and a 50-18 record to Westhead, who led the team to the championship that year. In addition to the wins, Popovich's career includes five NBA championships and three NBA Coach of the Year awards. He was the head coach of Team USA during the 2020 Olympics, leading it to a gold medal. Popovich coached six Hall of Fame players during his career: Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Dominique Wilkins, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Pau Gasol. Ohio State Predicted to Lose Nation's No. 6 Recruit to SEC Powerhouse
Ohio State Predicted to Lose Nation's No. 6 Recruit to SEC Powerhouse originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Throughout the offseason, the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day have built on their national championship win, which is evident from their impressive 2026 recruiting class. Advertisement They've already received a total of 19 commits for a group that ranks No. 5 in the nation. On Monday, it was revealed that they, along with Texas, Michigan and Florida, were the four finalists for offensive tackle Felix Ojo. Ohio State has shown interest through the recruiting process, bringing him in for a total of three visits, including an official visit on May 30. However, on Wednesday, On3's Sam Spiegelman predicted Ojo will pass on the Buckeyes and instead commit to the Longhorns. Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is predicted to land offensive tackle Felix would be an exciting addition for the SEC squad, as On3 Industry Rankings place Ojo as a five-star recruit, the No. 3 offensive tackle, the No. 1 player in Texas and the No. 6 player in the nation. Advertisement Considering where he sits as a prospect and the fact that he stands at 6-foot-6.5 and weighs 275 pounds, with one more year of high school left, he is the kind of player who could come in as a true freshman and compete for playing time. If the prediction does become a reality, Ojo would be Texas' third five-star recruit and fill in nicely to a class that already has 15 commitments, ranking No. 7 in the SEC and No. 16 in the nation. This outcome would sting for Ohio State and Day, but it wouldn't sting them much as they have already landed several offensive tackle recruits, including four-star Sam Greer and three-star Aaron Thomas.
